Fast X
(2023)

Exactly what you expect. But is very entertained.
After previous movies going to space you know before enter the theater that this franchise turn into an ode to exaggeration. And with this movie is exactly what you get. Hyper exaggerated situations but according to the spirit of the movie, is very entertained. If you want to go to the theater to over analyze a plot looking for an Oscar worthy story, save your money. This is about explosions, fast cars and nonsense action scenes and you will be rewarded nicely in such apart. Said that, I lower my rate because of the effects that look kind of rushed (not all of them). Not bad at all, but does not feel precise, does not feel well curated as we are getting accustomed from other action movies during last years. I saw the movie on Imax, landscapes and colors looks fantastic, sound is good but timing of the effects is the bigger sin of this movie in my opinion, no matter how fake you expect this movie could be. The plot is simple but has a very good addition in the role of the villain that for sure is a plus. Is the one that steal the show. Other additions like Brie Larson and Alan Ritchson are welcomed too. The usual crew deliver well and there are some funny moments with Rome as expected. Worth of seeing on theater? Yes. Is very entertained if you are clear about what are you paying to watch for. Worth of any kind of prize? Not at all. There is only one post credit scene but worth to see it. In summary, a popcorn flick for a couple of hours of nonsense entertainment.

John Wick: Chapter 4
(2023)

Action Movie of the Year. So far. Such a good movie, Is a MUST to see it in Theaters!
I just saw this movie on Imax and have to says that Is really a good movie. A terrific one. Growing from a simple premise but successful in so many aspects. The elegance of the world where this run is taken to a whole new level without losing the charm they put there from previous installments. The action is just priceless , P R I C E L E S S, with sequences that really shine for the originality and the precision of the cuts, many of them quite long. I want to emphasize the original part, as there are some sequences so clever and original that for sure in the future we will be flooded of this fantastic sequences as everybody will try to copy from now on. The star looks more vulnerable but at the same time more invincible than ever and what you expect from his kills is nothing but the best of the franchise. Terrific additions of new characters are welcomed and some of them really steal the show. Do you remember the dogs? Well, they were not forgotten on this one and for sure the bar was raised again. A lot of scenes looks like taken from a graphical novel, so well performed and choreographed that a bow goes to the director. The locations are stunning and is good to see that finally we have another Cameron to do night scenes. All of them so well illuminated. Fantastic. Actions sequences everywhere and all of them exciting and fast paced. The villains are really good and surprising, making this well entertained. Sound is terrific and colors are superb. This must to be seen in big screen. Almost three hours that run like feather in the air. A solid 9/10 for me, i give a 10 to compensate some 2-3 stars that clearly are trolling the rate without a proper reason. If you looking for action, look no further. This is the one, at least until Mission Impossible arrives, and that movie will need to be quite good if want to take from Mr. Wick the title of Action Movie of the year.

Better Call Saul: Plan and Execution
(2022)
Episode 7, Season 6

My very first SHOUT ever!!
I'm pretty sure this is my shortest review , but what can i say? Is the first time IN MY LIFE that i shout seeing a TV series. Just SHOCKING. Cannot address enough how this episode deserve praise and for sure prizes.

Top Gun: Maverick
(2022)

THE GODFATHER 2 FOR TOP GUN
Is well known that sequels usually are not worth of the good will their predecessors carry on, but this one is a quite nice exception. You get what is expected of a movie like this, but without a doubt the plus for this one is a super entertained, emotional and immersive film. The sound is great and the air sequences are exciting in a manner you can feel the passion , the excitement the pilot is feeling in their seat. I really loved the air sequences, cannot say right now another movie to highlight in that regard. Again, air sequences are fantastic. FANTASTIC. So real, so natural view, so immersive. Sound is great and of course IMAX is recommended. I loved the cast, all of them are nice and welcomed additions. There are some very emotional scenes that worth the ticket alone. Plot, is made to enjoy. Every bit. Lovely references to prior movie and superb cinematography. Music is good, however didn't find a new classic song for my particular taste, but maybe there is one for you. Super enjoyable product, the one that put you to search where to learn to fly. Absolutely recommended to see it in theaters. So IMMERSIVE experience that not even the best home theater will match. Well, if The Godfather had The Godfather 2, Top Gun has Top Gun Maverick.

Spider-Man: No Way Home
(2021)

That kind that make you smile!
Very enjoyable movie. Fun, fast paced, interesting, dramatic and full of action sequences. I like the plot and characters give a good dosis of scenic passion, specially Tom Holland. Good movie to enjoy in theaters as is packed of nice sound and effects and totally worth the ticket. For sure sequels are well deserved and hopefully all the possibilities of alternative universes will gives vastly interesting plots.

No Time to Die
(2021)

Decent ending of Craig Era. Something is missed.
Craig's Era has been a nice one for the Bond saga. As much as i been waiting for this final installment and as good as it is i feel like something is missing. Don't know if because of too high expectations or too long runtime but the movie didn't feel as entertained as I thought it will be. Is good but don't have the emotion of Casino Royal. Is quite slow compared to that one. Maybe because of the long runtime you also feel there is less action than before and more drama dialogues instead. Said that, the acting is quite good and Craig brings a solid performance and leave the bar high no matter what. The new 00 agent is good but not quite engaging as Ilsa Faust in Mission Impossible for example. Different story is Ana de Armas, so lovely and sexy but quite short time appearance. Action scenes are up to the expectations however there is not too many of them proportionally to runtime speaking . Gadgets are in the usual manner but as with the rest of the movie you feel there is too little of that. Locations are superb and photography is just breathtaking. Callbacks to Bond's history is a very high point. Summarizing, solid execution mostly flawless but lack of emotion ( in the pacing sense of the word ) is it sin. Otherwise this would have a much higher rating. Nonetheless worth the price to see it in theaters.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
(2021)

That sensation after a good enjoyable movie!
So happy to see movies like this in theaters again. The ones that give you that satisfying feeling at the end. Honestly don't know if is tight to chinese culture but look quite respectful to it imho. Also didn't know about the character before and the novelty didn't disappoint as instantly become one of the best heroes origin film both DC and Marvel of course. Most of the cast is unfamiliar to me but nothing that demerits the product, on the contraire quite surprised by the good performances. The figths are very well choreographed to the point to bring back the sensations of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. The effects are so well made that is very hard to find a defect to complain about. Mostly flawless to me. Remarkable the smoothness of the water scenes. Nature and creatures scenes are very well done too. Beautiful scenes appears with some regularity. Sound is terrific too. Is a Marvel movie and conserve the tone of all the previous ones. Enjoyable, interesting, not dark, well paced and of course well done. I give a 9 to counterpart the ones giving 6 star or less, but definitely is a solid 8 to me. Hope more movies like this appears more often as make super enjoyable the visit to the theatre (3D Imax worth it!)

Mortal Kombat
(2021)

Like a Kid in a Candy-shop!
Did you follow an order choosing flavors in a Candyshop? Most probably is not. You just enjoy every flavor whenever you want. This movie is like that. Just enjoy the flavors of several versions of the videogame and the 2+ hours pass like a breeze. Very good special effects, lots of references, simple but enjoyable and even funny plot ( people criticizing the plot looking for a Godfather like script are laughable. The movie name is Mortal Kombat, what you were expecting? Shakespeare dialogues? Get out of here!) As an action movie is quite intense and as videogame adaptation is what players were waiting for. Favorite Scorpion and Subzero get the deserved screen time and most of the other fighters are terrific and faithful to the spirit of the video-game. Hope this movie gets well on box office to fans get more of this. James Wan didn't disappoint and for sure a second movie with more budget could be a good thing for fans. And for the non initiated too. The movie is packed in action, very good fights, nice effects, good sound and as you can guess nice techno! Good for anyone, Best for fans. In summary just enjoy a super violent film. How many times you can say that in non Tarantino movies? GET OVER HERE!!

Joker
(2019)

One of the most depressive title I'd ever seen! Please keep young or happy people away of this movie.
I'm a big fan of superhero movies and I had to see this one. I went to the cinema at one of the late shows so I will begin telling that no matter the movie is very long and the show was very late ( I sleep early), you don't blink during the whole movie. And I mentioned this because the movie Is kind of slow paced but no matter that, everything looks so well placed that anything relating to filmmaking cannot be criticized in any level. Is just so well done. The acting of Joaquin Phoenix is superb, like he is meant to be the right one for interpretation of mentally affected characters. The sound is good, the music is mostly sad but fits so well that in the end that doesn't bother you. The sound is terrific. In summary everything relating to technical and artistic filmmaking is superb. But a movie is not only that, it has a soul based on the plot and this one has very good history but one just so depressing that cannot recommend this movie if you're going to the movies to have a nice moment. Seeing a movie is about feelings about a history and I consider that the history is key in how you feel after the movie, but this one goes too beyond in that apart. Is simply too much depressive. Not even sadness as we are talking of a villain. People is talking about darkness. Is not anything like that. Is just depression in maximum level. The character could be any other character that you can imagine. Name anyone. This is not a comic book story but the psychological fall of a person. A fall into a criminal citing society excuses. Doesn't need to be named the Joker. Anyone could have been the lead character Name. This movie could be named after anyone you can imagine. Don't need to be a comic character. This is not about comics or superheroes. Is about how humans minds can be devastated by society. You'll see a radiography of the society but a one that will highlights the bad in a way that will hurt your happiness. In summary, I give this one a 10 for is cinematic merits ( will receive Oscars for sure) and a 6 for being such horribly example of human degradation. In the end this one is a solid 8 to me. Not because any flaw of the movie on its own production, neither artistically or technical, but for the tone so devastating and depressive of the movie. Please keep young or happy people away of this movie. They will leave the movie on such low key that they don't deserve to see or have such a horrible point of view of life. For that there is enough on TV news. This Is not a superhero movie. Nor a comicbook one. It is a psychological study on how people lost faith in theirselves, fitted into a commercial character that drag audience to the cinema.

The Lion King
(2019)

Good but Need to be evaluated from 2 points of view
One point of view come from those people that see the original one. The second from the ones that didn't. For both of them this is a stunning visual achievement. Absolutely it is. The images are so crisp and technically perfect. The music is really nice, the scenes are funny (Timon and Pumba steal the show), most of the content is really good. But here comes the difference: for the ones that saw the original this all technical achievements comes without a soul. What happens Is basically a triumph of the art ( hand animation) over the science (computer animation). The art succeed In transmitting to you the feelings of the character. You can identify yourself with them, think was is happening in their minds, see the evil or the good or the joy on the eyes of the character. Science on the other hand couldn't get there. The visual result is terrific but lacks of emotion. Is like if Disney made a live action of his beloved Cars, no matter how good is the CGI you will not be able to see a smile coming from the hood. Here is similar, the animals looks real but their faces cannot provide the same emotions you can see on the 2d animated counterpart. Don't get me wrong, the scenes are gorgeous, but feels like seeing a 2 hour Natgeo program or seeing a movie with the directors comments audio track enabled; feels odd to say the least. For the second group, the ones that didn't see the original movie, the power of the story can give them a very enjoyable visual experience, sound is terrific, action scenes are quite good, totally worth it. But again, once they see the original they will find how way far of the remarkable simplicity but emotional original this movie was , instead they receive a superb technical tour de force. This is a frame by frame copy and I truly believe that is one of its strongest point as the original is so good that nothing need to be changed. The point of view of the ones that didn't see the movie is clean and the lack of comparison will provide a less critical opinion. No matter that, In no way this movie deserves less than 6 stars, but no more than 7 either , mostly because of the lack of searching a way to put more feelings on screen/animation. In summary i recommend to see both versions as each one have they own merits to be proud of.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum
(2019)

Brutal Ultraviolent Masterpiece Movie - BUMM! - The best of the trilogy!
This movie is not romance, drama, sci-fi. Is pure solid non-stop action. Do You like action movies? you cannot miss this one. I really like the first chapter ( oh! ) but this sequel was so good that takes the crown of the trilogy. Terrific choreographies, very nice rythm, very good music score and right amount of humor. A masterpiece of action movies. Good enough to get from you smiles of joy. How many times you can say that from an assasins movie? Very few for sure. A bonus: Do you like dogs? You'll be sooo happy.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World
(2019)

This one deserves the Oscar that was denied to WallE
Some years ago WALL E deserves an Oscar for best picture. But the competition was really fierce that year and Wall E has to back home without the prize. Animation has a second chance with this movie. The story is maybe less "political" than Walle but the real merit is in the secuences you get from this movie. Absolutely beautiful. Stunning! Lets see next month with Alita, but this can be one - if not THE ONE - of the best animations of all time. Period. That good it is. Since Final Fantasy you didn't get such level of sharpness. The textures, the colors, the details, hair, skins, eyes, everything at max level! The story is very good too and overal you get a great product with also a terrific soundtrack. I spend more than 9 tickets and no regret at all. All the family enjoyed the film. As an advice is recommended to see the previous ones before. Also i think is good content for enjoy in Dynamix or 4DX theaters. In summary, Terrific movie. Great closing of a beloved franchise.

Aquaman
(2018)

Ohh that red hair!!!
I always have been a fan of Justice League. But I wasn't very happy with the Movie we receive last time. Was not bad but definitely we expect more. And this movie is precisely that. It gives all what we were waiting in previous DC movies. The storyline is nice and have a faster pace that made the movie everything but boring. Has very nice visuals to the point that Avatar need to bring something very stunning to surpass these water scenarios. There are some very nice details in the lights the shoots and the general mood of the movie. Is lighter than previous DCEU but not shallow. The main characters the villains, the weapons the rides all of them are ensembled so nicely that is very enjoyable. And of course that red hair ... Amber looks sooo gorgeous in this movie that it almost make you feel sorry for Johnny Deep. CGI on faces are remarkable to the point you can't decide which one is more beautiful if the Nicole Kidman in this movie or the Nicole Kidman of Days of Thunder. I really think Wan has the Midas touch for action movies and this one is no exception. Totally recommended. And most important I believe this will give a good push to next installments as apparently DC found the formula. Finally. My grade will be 8.5/10

Ralph Breaks the Internet
(2018)

Better than expected.
We went to the movie looking for another movie but due age restrictions we had to change to this movie. I found the first one a very good movie and this one is a worthy sequel. Digital artists achieve nice sequences with very good rhythm. Not all ideas are new but the presentation is quite good. The mixing between universes are very well achieved and of course action sequences deserve a praise. I don't like sequences with multi particles composition and for me is one of the parts I didn't like. My family like it a lot and truly believe this one deserve to be in the 8 range but maybe will finish at 7.4-7.6 and the end of is run. Not for heavy thinking but to pass a nice light time.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
(2016)

RT Critics vs Audience : TFA 92%-90% Zootopia 99%-95% Deadpool 84% 93-% BVS: 30%-75%
As a general rule i always go to see a movie as soon as i can and always WITHOUT read any critic prior to go to the theater. With this movie i can't be more satisfied with my choice as if i took for true the critics opinion i wouldn't see a good movie. You can see the percentage of the title, how is possible that biased results? There is no consistency at all. This movie is not perfect but any measure but is not that bad as critics promote. First you have to be clear that this is a Zack Snyder movie. In that way this guy has a strong preference to make his movies as a kind real life graphic novel. If you understand that you will see that, this movie fit exactly in what was supposed to be. A lot of scenes are meant to give you a taste of a graphic novel product. And he succeed in that apart because some scenes are truly remarkable. But to do that he has to use many times an slow pace, that is not a critics preference unless the production of the movie says Scorsese or something that make them look smart. The rhythm of the movie is the most recurrent problem according critics. As usual with critics the movie has no storyline, my grandpa write better, my version of the plot has no holes and all that repetitive stuff. Consider the point of graphic novel and you see that this movie is consistent with previous Snyder works like 300 and Watchmen. In that order this movie has the same approach, is not that fast at the beginning and look for give an extended explanation of what will happens. Maybe that is it bigger sin, as the most of critics are looking for a roller-coaster start, a Disney linear and simple approach. In no other way you can accept a 100% note for Zootopia and just a 30% for this. I see the two movies and the mammal film is not that good and this one is not that bad. Linear? That doesn't happens here. Here you have many changes that cut the story in a way that maybe is hard to understand to usual critics but not hard to read at all. About the acting we found a very good performance of the most of the cast, specially Affleck who gives a very strong Batman, maybe too merciless for purists. Cavill is good but he is a little plane, need to be more emotive. However he is the physical resemblance of the comic book character so you don't make a big deal of his acting. Gadot is beautiful and her scenes are plenty of actions. Not Linda Carter but not bad at all. Her upcoming movie look very promising. Alfred is a good one in my opinion and has a more intrinsic relation with Bruce, not just advising Batman but helping at all level. The CGI is good for the most part and as happens with other movies the problem in my opinion is using villains with no defined form. Doomsday is a kind of messy aspect very powerful but messy. There are a few poor looking effects but not enough to disqualify the whole movie. In the end, you see that opposite to the 30% of RT, the audience is given the movie a good 75%. The movie has hefty 2.5 hours run, but is good enough to take that time very fast. Overall, this is a movie that deserve to be seen as it will lay the foundations to the DC Expanded Universe.

The Smurfs 2
(2013)

Very good and funny sequel. Enjoy the show again!
The Smurfs are so beloved characters, that a movie about them have to be good in almost every sense. The producers made it with the first movie, and this time they not only match the quality of the first one, but give us an improved product in visuals, plot and funny quotes. New additions to the story are very well received as they are funny and leverage the story. Also main characters are very good and now are more developed and involved in the plot giving the movie a much more familiar feeling. Many of us grew with the smurfs and this time you feel that your are seeing a follow up to the classic TV series, in a good way. All the fun is still there but this time you have great locations and many more emotion. The location in Paris couldn't be more wise. Such a nice visuals that you wish to be there in that moment. CGI are terrific, i can't say right now a flaw about this, maybe is there but i couldn't tell. Funny quotes are spreading across the movie then you don't have almost any boring time. This movie will not get the box office levels of Despicable Me 2, but i believe it deserves to be in that league. Hopefully this movie will be a welcome thrust.

Turbo
(2013)

Audience love it a lot! Tons of fun and emotion! Terrific sound!
As good as Pixar is making animated movies, the best counterpart is ,without no doubt, Dreamworks. And this guys bring this time a nice movie where they show how much are improving their works and how close they are getting their stuff to Pixar quality. Said that, this movie is a solid piece of work. Is entertained, heart warming but most important is very exciting. The pace of the movie is fast in a very good way. This are not the kind of movie to see looking for logic or anything like that. This is just about fun, about a product that give a moment of truly entertainment. As limited as the space in this plot idea could be, is remarkable how much emotion they can put in the movie. Very few times you see the crowd giving so much support to a screen character and this is what this little Turbo get, the whole audience loving him. I see Monster U and Despicable Me too but i believe that Turbo has more emotion than the other two and considering how good that ones are you will get a lovely speedy fun in your eyes.

Despicable Me 2
(2013)

You can't explain exactly why, but the minions make you laugh a lot!
This movie is a kind of movie that you as an adult can't explain honestly. Maybe has this kind of child movie sensation but at the same time you're laughing a lot. The crowd can't stop laughing. This minions are so contagious that their creators deserves a prize not just for the quality of the characters but for getting a so unique way of make people happy. Because the people leaves the room with a happy face. They are like tickles, you just can't resist. Period. The plot is not a Mensa product but it doesn't matter, it makes you laugh! Maybe the pitch, the form of the minions, i don't know. You will get contagious fun. Also the story has nice heartwarming moments that deserves the ticket on its own. Gru is a terrific character and the new female agent is a very good one too. Color are nicely balanced and makes panoramic shots looks very natural. The little kids are screen candies, very funny and cutes. It is not a Shrek 2 but for sure is a terrific second part for a surprising franchise. For sure deserves a sequel.

Man of Steel
(2013)

Even for Marvel fans this is a must GO!
The trailers of this movie were released in a so effective way that you start to fear if the product will fill your expectations. And with the usual critics-know-about-everything-nothing-is-good- to-me reviews the chances of be confused about this are increasing. As high as the expectations were raised after trailers, i have to tell you that you will not disappointed with this movie. Is different in many ways to the usual superhero movies but is a solid product that fits in what you expect from this kind of film. Nice references to previous movies are well executed and new plot additions are well received too. As you can expect from a Zack Snyder movie, there are several scenes that try to resemble graphic novel arts and in my opinion are very well made. Some of the nicest things about this movie is the way they made the fast moving scenes. The most of them (unfortunately i can't say all of them) look very realistic according laws of physics, the CGI are so well made that you wish that development for many movies you seen before. The movements are what you expect if such kind of people exist in reality.

About the plot, i believe this is the more controversial point of what i see in reviews across the internet. Most moviegoers like it a lot, but are critics the ones ( not all of them) that are giving mixed reviews. What you realize is that critics expect another Dark Knight but this movie is not looking to be a darker one of your beloved Superman. If you are smart enough to understand that this is ANOTHER hero you will be happy with the story. If you are looking for a fourth darker than Batman movie for sure you will agree with critics giving bad reviews. This is a Superman movie and in that scenario this is a very good one.

The movie has some flaws to me for sure ( i don't know about a perfect movie) but i will not comment about that as i believe everyone need to discover by themselves what - if any- dislike for their preferences.

In summary this is a super hero movie that even Marvel fans will appreciate as is giving a whole new level to a classic story, turning the most beloved hero in an actual hero and mixing a great graphic novel specialist with great digital artists to give you a full action packed movie that make a good foundations for sequels.

Furious 6
(2013)

You Love Cars? Fun? Action?? You have to SEE this movie!!
After watching the trailer you go to the cinema with some ideas or fears of silly fun. Not at all! This movie is a really really enjoyable fun packed in a superb dose of action. Maybe 10 is a very high note, but thinking on the kind of movie we decide to see, is what it deserves. The movie have a lot of jokes that really work well with the plot. It's hard to get that combination (plot-jokes) work properly but this is one of that rare cases. About the action, the scenes looks very natural maybe some annoying close ups but overall very good job with chasing scenes. Funny, nice twists, nice action scenes, by far the best of the whole series. People was laughing, wowing and clapping. You love cars, action and fun? then you have to see it and enjoy it asap. Is by far the most entertained movie released this year.
