Dunki
(2023)

Genuine Review - Disappointment for a Rajkumar Hirani fan
I am not one of those who look just for stars in a project. For me the director, storyline and then the actors matter and in the very same order.

Dunki is unlike Rajkumar Hirani's any other project. It is indeed a mediocre production and a disappointment. Not a bad movie, its just that it doesnt suits Rajkumar Hirani brand.

It had foced laughters, forced emotions as if they are pinching us to cry but the scenes did not lead anywhere near to those emotions.

The side actors have done a good job. Not the best performance of Shahrukh but not that bad either. Vicky Kaushal sole the show. Taapsee looks same in every emotion and every movie and the same was the case even here.

Songs were mediocre, no home run here.

I compare Rajkumar Hirani to the likes of Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Sai Paranjape. He is best at what he does. Dunki shouldn't've been made.

You won't miss anything huge if you miss this movie.

Saas Bahu Achaar Pvt. Ltd.
(2022)

Average writing, not up to the expectations
I have always been a fan of TVF series and the trailer of this one really intrigued me to watch. Unfortunately, it was not up to the mark.

The good: direction, locations, supporting cast The bad: The writing. With this series, I was expecting a tear-jerking series, an emotional roller coaster with eventually a sweet joy of victory but it was a weird experience.

The main character looks very weak. The protagonist itself looks negative. She cheats, manipulate the workers, misbehaves with almost everyone, does not work hard enough or at least that's what I felt. All she masters is in making a good pickle. But somehow she misses the fighting spirit, relies on the support around. The whole victory in the end is achieved by the supporting cast and luck. Think of it: a businesswoman gives free pickles and gets business easily. That makes no sense. The support cast looks really strong and everyone else looks positive except the protagonist. She may have her reasons, but they were not clear enough. It did not look like anyone was mean to her, but she certainly was to everyone.

The main character was played by a strong actress from gully boy fame but here she misses the mark. She plays someone who can be hated easily.

In the end, not worth a watch.

Chinese Bhasad
(2016)

Garbage
With the trailer I thought this is going to be an amazing web series. Struggled to watch it for long as I don't live in India and the content is not available outside. Then purchased VPN, changed my location to India and saw this with my wife and wish I had not paid for that VPN.

The storyline looked promising but the girl in the character appears to be more Nepali then Chinese with zero acting skills. The writing is ridiculous, not funny at all, the characters though strong except the lead guy cannot do justice to such poor writing and all falls flat. It's just Garbage. I just realized that I should not even waste my time to write a review on something so bad. So that's about it.

PK
(2014)

Finally a movie which IS NOT an insult to Indian Cinema
Every time a bollywood movie releases a particular section of cinema lovers gets frustrated and disappointed. Movies like "Happy new year", "Bang Bang", "Dhoom 3" (2 of them have Abhisek Bachhan and it is really a coincidence) make so much at the box office but to be honest they are like insult to our cinema.

The movie PK really stands out. It a daring effort and who else could have done that other this actor-director duo. The movie starts with an Alien but as it progresses you can't miss even a single shot. Each and every scene is flawless and beautiful. This is a must watch for people who actually love cinema and like good cinema. The best part is, it connects with real life though the genre seems to be fantasy but then as the movie progresses you feel every incident is related to you.

Must watch movie. AND IT IS NOWHERE RELATED TO INSULTING ANY RELIGION. IT IS THE MIND OF THE PEOPLE WHO Perceive IT THAT WAY.

Happy New Year
(2014)

Awful! Worst movie of the decade.
And finally the curtains are raised and what we get to see is another dramatic, senseless, idiotic work from Farah Khan and SRK.

Can't believe that I loved this guy in his early career flicks and last time in Chak De. Farah is on her worst in terms of the direction, it sucks without any doubt. The story makes no sense, jokes aren't funny and things are not where they should be.

It is an insult to Indian cinema the land of legendary Mother India, Hirishikesh Mukerjee's flicks and great directors.

It is a tight slap on the face of Indians. If you can pay for this movie then really you don't deserve to crib about the price rises and Indian economy.

Waste.

Bang Bang
(2014)

Again a bakwas by Bollywood. Hiritik just lost some respect !!
Why would you watch a bollywood remake of an awful Hollywood movie? Looks like Hiritik tried to follow CHennai express, singham2, dhoom 3 etc.

We want to respect cinema not insult it by such creations. He has done movies like Lakshaya, Guzarish and Zindagi Na Milegi DObara.. yes they were awesome but here you miss that charm. The movie was made with a sole intention of commercial success and without heart. Of Course effort have been made and it involves a lot of hard work but man you gotta be creative. Only a bollywood/tollywood/kollywood fan (please note they are not real cinema fans) can encourage such an idiotic art. A real cinema lover will give it a miss out of respect for cinema. This is an insult to cinema and the director and the actor gets full credit for that.

In the end I would just say what a waste of such an enormous talent. Hiritik you deserve better.

Mary Kom
(2014)

Really Disappointing! Would recommend a pass to this one.
When we were hoping for another biopic with a Bhaag Milkha Bhaag style this one disappoints to the core. The movie is a result of bad choices in terms of direction and star cast and do no justice to the real Mary Kom.

I wish they focused more on the sport rather than the star cast and the love story. It's time our movie makers gather some courage and stars act in a real manner. Really upset with this outcome.

This is made only for whistles and money. A movie of this kind needs passion and courage and I doubt if the director or the stars have the reputation of this kind. This adds to their poor reputation.

Jail
(2009)

An intelligent script and direction - a must watch
Considering most of the Bollywood films with imaginary stories, songs as well as dance sequences in the gardens, I was pretty much reluctant for this movie. But happened to see it on TV. Really impressive work, later found out the director is Madhur Bhandarkar, no doubt there are really very few directors to create such kind of magic.

Very real and strong script, with superb direction. The movie progresses stage by stage with a charm. It was such a treat to watch this movie. Loved every part of it and the best part is touching one of the most sensitive areas in India. Never had so much sympathy for Indian jail convicts so far. This is for sure a movie of international standards.

A must watch.
