Fourth of July
(2022)

stages of grief over family trauma
Beautiful film with heartfelt drama that unfolds in a subtle way, and through the protagonist's journey comes wisdom.

The finale was truly beautiful. Our protagonist goes through the stages of grief and finds acceptance for his family, but also for life in general. Sometimes the only thing we can do is to change our own perspective rather than those around us.

What helps the protagonist awaken is a shift in his focus, from the internal to the external. It is through caring for other people (buying his family pizza, taking on the role of a sponsor) that he learns to deal with his own misery.

It's going to be ok.
