Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver
(2024)

The story continious
The second edition of this series impressed me by seamlessly continuing the story from where the first one left off. Unlike many sequels that introduce entirely new elements, this one maintains continuity with both the storyline and the cast.

In terms of action, it surpasses the first edition, delivering a relentless barrage of excitement. If you're seeking non-stop action, you'll find plenty of it here.

The story remains consistent, but it's essential to watch the first part before delving into this one. Without that context, the movie won't make much sense. Therefore, it's crucial to maintain the sequence.

Additionally, Sofia Boutella's portrayal is notably improved in the second edition, featuring enhanced action choreography.

Overall, Netflix has done a commendable job with this presentation, earning a solid 6.5/10 from me.

Dune: Part Two
(2024)

It could have been better
I am dead sure that a lot of negative response to this review, but hey not every cinematic brilliance becomes an all time classic.

I grew up watching Star Wars and other similarly plotted stories on the big screen. Dune, both Part One and Part Two, falls into the same category.

There will inevitably be people who disagree with this review, but I gave Part One a solid six stars, and I intend to do the same for this installment.

The movie is undeniably long, perhaps excessively so, due to the abundance of twists and turns throughout.

The final showdown between the champions was disappointingly executed and could have been improved upon.

However, when it comes to the acting, there's no doubt it's outstanding across the board. The director truly captures the essence of character development, from Paul to Atreides to Muad'Dib to Kwisatz Haderach to Usul; the directors builds the story very nicely.

It's apparent that this saga is far from over, with much more to come in the future. Let's hope it only gets better from here.

Scoop
(2024)

A very okish
The world is filled with dark secrets and this movie endeavors to shed light on just one story among millions. With the central figure deceased, countless victims and their tales are interred with them.

Firstly, there seems to be confusion on IMDB regarding the order of the movie cast. Gillian Anderson is erroneously placed in the secondary cast list, while Rufus Sewell is not prominently featured in the primary cast lineup. Hopefully, this discrepancy will be rectified soon.

Regarding the aforementioned issue, the performances delivered are nothing short of exemplary. Both actors have meticulously embodied their real-life counterparts and portrayed their roles with finesse.

Beyond that, the movie delves into the scandalous exposure of a member of the British Royal Family to the scrutiny of television and the public eye, due to their association with a convicted sex offender who has ties to numerous affluent and influential individuals.

As for the veracity of the Prince's claims, that is a judgment left to the viewer's discretion.

The Great Indian Kapil Show
(2024)

Slow start
I won't blame Netflix, but perhaps the entire cast for the slow start and some repeated jokes.

Initially, I was eager since the show on Netflix was more accessible across the border, unlike YouTube where there was no cutting or editing of songs, etc. That was a positive aspect. However, the cast's performance was quite mediocre.

Archana Puran Singh seemed to be forcing herself to laugh harder than ever before and contribution to the show was absolutely and totally nothing.

Kapil started with the usual routine but with very dull introductory jokes.

Sunil Grover's return was welcomed, considering his strong presence in the show, but his solo endeavors in movies, etc., were just terrible.

Krushna Abhishek's performance was mediocre; it could have been better.

Kiku's portrayal as a chef was very uninspiring; his second appearance was below average.

The show lacked substance and seemed like a desperate attempt at humor. It could have been better. Fresh jokes with better punchlines are needed.

I won't make a final judgment based on the first episode; let's hope the subsequent ones are better.

Fighter
(2024)

Loser
There are movies with entirely imaginative stories, where directors aim to elevate the narrative through the grandeur of the big screen.

Then there are real-life stories that directors attempt to adapt for the screen, striving to do justice to the original events.

And then there's Siddharth Anand, who first twists a real event into his own fantasy and then proceeds to ruin it with subpar plotting, a weak storyline, and dreadful visual effects.

In attempting to emulate Top Gun, Hindi cinema not only misses the mark but completely loses the essence of the film. While Top Gun begins with a tower flyover, Hindi cinema takes it to absurd heights, with planes flying upside down over runways, thankfully without scraping the asphalt or featuring the hero lighting a cigar or busting a dance move mid-flight.

The beginning of the movie is not just a poor imitation but perhaps a D-grade copy of top gun.

Hrithik Roshan seems to have misjudged his role, as if starring in War wasn't enough to make him realize it's not his forte, especially when the same director and team have already produced a similar action movie. It's not just about acting in a copied Hollywood movie but also in your own.

Deepika Padukone barely gets any meaningful role in the movie, apart from forced scenes, unnecessary songs, and trying to grab some screen time with Hrithik Roshan, who not only acts selfishly in the movie but seemingly in real life too.

The rest of the movie is filled with the same tired tropes of portraying Pakistan forces in a negative light, along with the usual Bollywood imaginings of Pakistan, its people, and language.

It's a bad movie from the very start until the end, where the Hindi cinema maverick decides to transform into Rambo.

P. S.

Anil Kapoor, someone forgot to tell him that it was Hritikh copying Tom Cruise and it was not his role to play.

Road House
(2024)

Liking not loving
In the vein of today's Western narratives, the plot unfolds with the antagonistic force attempting to shut down a business. The owner recruits an outsider to defend their cause and amidst intense confrontations, the heroes emerge victorious, culminating in a classic sunset walk. The end.

The film adheres to a similar storyline, emphasizing hand-to-hand combat over firearms, with commendable fight choreography offering audiences a fresh take on action sequences. However, despite these merits, the narrative lacks depth, resulting in a somewhat mundane viewing experience that may not warrant repeat watches.

Jake Gyllenhaal delivers a captivating performance, showcasing a whole new facet of his acting prowess, albeit hindered by the shortcomings of the storyline.

True to his real-life persona, Conor McGregor maintains his signature presence in the movie, as astutely anticipated.

Murder Mubarak
(2024)

Horrible Movie Mubarak
GGuess the title should serve the purpose and believe me, it's more than sufficient to describe the entire 2 hours and 20 minutes of complete nonsense.

A film attempted by Homi Adajania (who has previously been associated with some regrettable films) goes completely haywire from the very start. Yes, he attempts to make something interesting by forcefully inserting ridiculous R-rated scenes, language, and not to forget the almost completely unnecessary dance sequence featuring Sara Ali Khan.

Advice for Sara Ali Khan: Acting? Not your forte, it seems.

Pankaj Tripathi delivers in his usual style, but with some super boring lines.

Sanjay Kapoor, well, not even OTT is working for this Kapoor.

Karisma Kapoor should not have chosen this as a comeback vehicle.

Anyways, it's a complete waste of time to watch.

Dunki
(2023)

Boring
Dunki, to cut the rest of the review short, it didn't seem like a Hirani movie at all.

The director, well, don't blame us, but he himself has set the bar higher after each and every movie.

The hallmark of Hirani's movies is that they carry humor, fun, and a message. However, Dunki has a story and a message but lacks everything else you would expect.

The biggest letdown of the movie is the ridiculous makeover of Shah Rukh Khan in the first half. He looks like a resurrected mummy, for crying out loud. Although he delivered two blockbusters this year with brainless movies, he needed a serious one to appeal to the award masses. The choice was good, but the execution by Mr. Khan himself was very poor. He should seriously consider reminding himself that he is not Raj anymore.

Taapsee Pannu, whom you would expect to elevate the film with her performance, disappoints.

All in all, I was expecting it to be much better and more memorable. Guess what? Half of the movie is already forgotten.

Madame Web
(2024)

Bad Horrible and Crap
What was that? How did Marvel Studios even approve of this? There was no coherent story, just some terribly directed scenes with a senseless and confusing plot. It was a truly disappointing experience.

It seems like the Marvel producers were preoccupied with something else, perhaps distracted by Fifty Shades, while this movie slipped through without proper review.

The storytelling was so poorly executed that even the characters seemed confused, leaving the audience just as lost as to what was happening and why.

I'm running out of negative words to conclude this review, but suffice it to say, regardless of your admiration for Dakota, watching this film would be a complete waste of time.

Ricky Stanicky
(2024)

RIDICULOUS
Funny, dont know when it was funny, where it was funny or how it was. I couldn't pitch anything from it.

Let's be frank, the theme was perfect, the story was engaging - finally, a good guy's movie after a while. The casting was solid, with Zac Efron and John Cena making a good combo. I'm not sure what the idea was behind Andrew Santino's inclusion, but nevertheless, everything seemed to be in order regarding the movie.

Now, here's the deal: the movie is completely tasteless, with only half-hearted performances and hardly anything happening at all, leaving a bad and awful taste.

The movie is a complete waste and has nothing to offer. I'm truly surprised that some people actually find it good.

Watch at your own risk.

Damsel
(2024)

Dont fall for the bad reviews
Movies are meant for entertainment; if not for the same purpose, then why bother with them in the first place?

This movie is not based on a well-known fairy tale, but it surely feels like one. I am surprised to see some very harsh reviews labeling it as lame, but I found the movie very interesting, thrilling, and entertaining.

Some claim it was predictable; well, one can predict the end, but not how the movie will approach it.

Millie Bobby Brown, from Stranger Things to Godzilla to Enola Holmes and now this, is not only improving but delivering stronger performances one after another.

It's beautiful, it's nice, and it's full of excitement. Do watch.

Merry Christmas
(2024)

A complete wow
Firstly, unlike other reviewers, I will not even mention what the movie is all about. Even saying this might be considered a spoiler.

I recently watched this beautiful Netflix movie, and it was a complete weekend treat. Everything about the movie was exciting, and there was simply no dull moment in it.

Katrina Kaif was at her best; she showcased her acting skills to the max, and it was just too good.

Vijay Sethupathi, whom I first saw in "Farzi," was good, and now pairing opposite Katrina Kaif-though it may sound like some parallel universe-the actor has pulled it off magnificently.

In conclusion, don't read any reviews; they might spoil it for you. Just watch it, and you will find it much more entertaining.

Argylle
(2024)

Me likey likey
Come on, the reviewers are being very stringent and strict with their ratings and reviews and I am completely surprised, once again, as to why everytime there is a same situation over this platform.

Movies are supposed to be entertaining, you should leave after viewing with a smile and not with your hair pulled out in frustration.

As for this movie, well, it was good. It was funny, had some twists, and was crafted quite nicely-too nicely, in fact.

The cast was exceptional, starting with Bryce Dallas Howard, aka the "Jurassic" lady. Despite carrying some serious weight, she looked cute and performed exceptionally well in her role.

Sam Rockwell was surprisingly good in his performance, and the cherry on top was Henry Cavill.

So, all in all, it's a good watch. Just go for it.

Spaceman
(2024)

Cant think of a title
I didn't enjoy it, it was quite depressing, not a pop corn movie. As the astronaut embarked upon a lonely voyage, I watched all of that alone. It lacked entertainment and wasn't any fun. However, it did convey a message that loneliness can be a silent killer, rendering your mind mindless.

There are other similar movies where, in the pursuit of exploring the mysteries of the universe, individuals embark on distant travels to gain understanding. The significant downside is leaving behind everything you love and the one you leave behind might now always eagerly await your return.

Apart from that, there's nothing sci-fi about the movie; it's akin to watching a man in a box fighting himself. In short, it's extremely boring.

Man fighting lonliess, a million times better movie, Cast Away.

Maamla Legal Hai
(2024)

Just splendid
Why don't lawyers go to the beach?

Because even the sand can't escape their scrutiny - it's always under "appeal"!

Courts serve as a forum to address various social injustices prevailing in the world. They are often viewed as a social gutter, where even minor disputes can take years to resolve.

"Maamla Legal Hai," despite the tense and tiring atmosphere commonly associated with legal proceedings, presents a captivating and humor-filled courtroom drama on Netflix. I assure you that it will not only make you laugh but also provide enjoyment from the beginning to the very end.

Episode 3, in particular, stands out as the funniest.

From Ravi Kishan to Naila Grewal to Nidhi Bisht, each actor has portrayed their roles beautifully.

Don't hesitate; just click, watch, and enjoy.

Avatar: The Last Airbender
(2024)

Better than the 2010 movie
I haven't watched the cartoon, etc., so the movie I saw in 2010 was just completely horrible, senseless, and overall just too bad.

Now, onto the series - I had no idea what to expect. Well, it was way better than the aforementioned movie, but I was still expecting Avatar to have it all, mastering all forms. Maybe another season or two, or perhaps just one more for that.

I don't understand why producers and creators don't aim to complete a series in one go. Why do they have to drag them out? It often results in a few good scenes with one or two excellent episodes, while the others are typically boring, long conversations and just being stretched.

The same story applies here. Although every episode provides good fighting scenes and displays of power, there's also a lot of unnecessary chatter, twisting, and drama, which, for me, was the boring element.

Given the limited options on screen these days, it's still a good series to watch.

P. S.

Gordon Cormier, superb acting on his part.

In the Land of Saints & Sinners
(2023)

The film will surely send you off to sleep with sheer tedium
If you're not inclined to read the entire review, here's a concise version:

The film starts off well with a captivating storyline and some excitement, making you think, "Oh, finally, Liam Neeson is back." However, about halfway through, the pace slows down, boredom sets in, and ultimately, it joins the never-ending list of Liam's lackluster movies.

As a fan, I might still be clinging to the high of "Taken," and that's perhaps why his subsequent films fail to impress. Additionally, they consistently seem to have low budgets, a fact evident in this one as well.

In conclusion, manage your expectations, as there's little difference whether you choose to watch it or not.

Animal
(2023)

Burtal, Glore and just bad
I am really disappointed and shocked by the movie. Despite the trailers being enticing, I anticipated a strong comeback from Ranbir Kapoor. While his acting is commendable, the overall execution of the movie, including its story and plot, was excessively barbaric and brutal in nature.

The film, regrettably, contains scenes that render it unsuitable for family viewing. The portrayal of women's cruelty and the depiction of individuals with unstable minds contribute to the movie's unsettling nature, detracting from its cinematic essence.

It is imperative to caution against viewing this film with one's family. Ranbir Kapoor, an inherently gifted actor, elevates his performance to an unparalleled level with intense dedication to his role. However, the question arises as to whether he should engage in projects that seemingly forsake humane values. Despite acclaim at the box office, the movie's reception on OTT platforms appears less favorable.

Bobby Deol's role, though brief, portrays another manic character. While initial interest may be piqued by a song teaser, subsequent exposure left me disgusted. Furthermore, the movie is replete with senseless action, heavily drawing inspiration from other films, notably a scene from Maula Jatt.

In summary, the viewing experience leaves a bad sense of discontent and a bitter taste in your mind.

Not at all worth seeing.

The Beekeeper
(2024)

For how long these bad movies patch
Upon encountering the name David Ayer as the director, alongside Jason Statham in a production bearing a promising title, I anticipated a satisfying full on action movie experience. However, akin to the recurrent pattern observed in Statham's previous films, this one, albeit marginally superior, failed to meet expectations.

Initially, the director presents a character engaged in beekeeping, yet the portrayal lacks authenticity by sparing only a meager 100 bees and possessing a minimal number of hives, if not fewer than a dozen.

The film's execution is notably deficient across numerous scenes, prompting a sense of incredulity and frustration. Numerous lapses in coherence and logic pervade the narrative, leaving the viewer bewildered and questioning the purpose of the cinematic endeavor.

The prevalence of clumsy mistakes becomes evident within the initial minutes, rendering the movie entirely nonsensical in its unfolding. Emmy Raver-Lampman's casting in a particular role remains questionable, lacking a discernible rationale.

In summation, refraining from viewing this production does not entail a significant loss, as it fails to deliver any substantial content of note.

Ferrari
(2023)

Against the odds i liked it
Well, I have observed that reviewers are giving much lower ratings, at least lower than what I was expecting. Without delving into too much detail, I enjoyed the movie; it was good. Not excellent, but still good.

From House of Gucci to portraying the Italian legend Enzo, Adam Driver's performance knows no bounds. He handled the character with great skill.

As for Penélope Cruz, forget about her attractive appearance in the movie. Just witness her brilliance on the screen.

I am strongly against providing spoilers, so, without revealing too much, the movie is based on a small portion of Enzo Ferrari's life. As others have mentioned, there was a lot more that could have been included to make the movie more exciting. However, capturing the entirety of Enzo's life, the founder of Ferrari, in a single film would be an impossible task.

Nevertheless, the movie is good, and you won't regret spending your time on it.

Salaar: Cease Fire - Part 1
(2023)

What ever it is
Action movies have become excessively exaggerated in Indian cinema lately. Prabhas, known for his roles post-Bahubali, seems to be stuck in a rut with repetitive movies where he remains stationary, only altering the planet's rotation. This particular film features a dozen entry scenes, with Prabhas engaging in fights without moving from a single spot, resulting in hundreds of people being chopped down. The movie appears to be heavily inspired by Game of Thrones but executed poorly, mirroring the constant shifts in the storyline.

The main lead in the film resembles a mere model, standing stoically and striking poses every 5-10 minutes. The movie lacks substance, presenting a mindless and directionless action spectacle where everything seems to spiral out of control. Unfortunately, there's a sequel on the horizon, much to the dismay of the audience. It's advisable to steer clear of this film at all costs to save yourself from disappointment.

The Marvels
(2023)

Yes, it could be worse
The enforced narrative lacked substance; in reality, there was no story to speak of. If given the option, I would have preferred to stick with the movie's trailer and considered it the entire experience because the actual film was disappointingly awful.

Why was it so poorly crafted? The storyline was unimaginative, dull, and outright stupid.

The standout in the movie was Iman Vellani; she infused the film with a sense of fun and provided some level of entertainment.

As for Teyonah Parris, her character abruptly entered the story out of nowhere, gaining superpowers without any meaningful explanation or training. The introduction of her character seemed utterly pointless.

Throughout the movie, Brie Larson appeared visibly uncomfortable with her surroundings and the overall situation.

To cut to the chase, the story was lacking, with a few enjoyable moments. However, it ultimately presented a weak representation of the Marvel universe.

12th Fail
(2023)

A Sheer Class
Forget about all the reviews; forget about everything else. Just sit back, play it, and immerse yourself in a beautiful and true story. Not only will you enjoy it, but it will also touch you, teach you, and instill a deeper appreciation for the life it portrays.

Vikrant Massey has been given a genuine character to portray, and he has executed it beautifully.

With Vidhu Vinod Chopra at the director's helm, the film is a masterpiece. The meticulous work, the placement of characters, and bringing it all to life on screen make it undoubtedly one of the best offerings from Hindi cinema in 2023.

It is a must-watch, without a doubt. There should be no second opinion about it.

Just watch it.

Lift
(2024)

The Slow and The Disaster
Firstly, F. Gary Gray must have had questionable judgment in undertaking this project. Following in the footsteps of the Fast & Furious franchise, the director seems to have produced one of the worst films of his career. The concept is poorly developed, the execution lacks finesse, and the effects are subpar.

Kevin Hart should realize that leading a movie requires a certain skill set, and with films like this, it's evident that it's not his forte. It's not only tedious but downright absurd to watch. He should reconsider experimenting in genres that don't suit him.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw didn't seem discerning enough to grasp that she was part of an ill-fated combination while taking on a lead role. Wasn't she aware?

The movie brings nothing new to the table; it either draws uninspired inspiration from other films or poorly mimics them. It falls short in every aspect.

My advice: steer clear of this one. The movie is simply bad.

Napoleon
(2023)

Not great as expected
Napoleon, according to the end titles and historical accounts, was a peculiar individual, losing himself in grandiose delusions of greatness.

While the movie attempts to depict this aspect, it falls short in explaining the reasons behind his eccentricity, leaving a gap in historical context.

Moving on to Joaquin Phoenix, post-Joker, the actor undoubtedly exhibits a remarkable skill set, showcasing his prowess with the character at hand.

The war scenes, their choreography, and attention to detail were well-executed by the director. However, the lack of excitement in each scene resulted in a sense of boredom for the audience as the movie progressed.

As acknowledged by the filmmakers, the movie falls short of expectations, making it unlikely to leave a lasting impression or encourage repeat viewings.

There were numerous ways in which the film could have been improved.
