Day Shift
(2022)

Good, not great.
This was a solid action movie, a very average vampire movie, and a poor comedy movie.

Sure, the cgi wasn't perfect, but the action and especially the violence delivered.

The vampire rules were a bit confusing, but lately that's par for the course.

The biggest disappointment, however, was the lack of comedy. Considering the talent involved, this could've been the 'Shaun of the Dead' vampire sequelish movie we never got.

It's worth a watch, but you won't be blown away.

Jackass Forever
(2022)

Worst one, but still some fun.
'Danger' Ehren gets the worst of it, as per, and is the clear stand out for it. Chris Pontius does almost nothing. Even the newbies do more. Why was he even in this?

Apart from Knoxville's run in with the bull and Ehren's testicular heroics, it's a much more toned down version; but that's to be expected as they're not as sprightly as they once were.

Mortal Kombat
(2021)

Great Fun
Sure, they changed the story, and sure, there was no tournament. But who cares? It's clearly explained why and MK fans know the story inside out, so I appreciated the change.

This movie was badass, even if the digital stuff stood out sometimes, it draws you in anyway.

Bi-Han's swagger is unreplicatable.

The before credits coda had me whooping.

Turn your criticism off and enjoy.

Bring on the sequel!

Deadpool 2
(2018)

Deadpool 2
This movie sucked. It took forever to get going, and even when it did, it was still slow going. Deadpool was an almost flawless movie. This was boring. None of the awesome violence and well used profanity made it over to this sequel. It seems like it was toned down to reach a bigger audience because of the success of the first. That was a bad idea. The first one worked because of the violence and profanity. It was funny. This movie is not. Funny after-credit scenes are good, but can't save it.

Robin Hood: Men in Tights
(1993)

Mel! Where have you gone?!
Movies like Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles are timeless. But for some reason, Brooks tries gags with early 90s movies in mind, as spoofs; this ain't Spaceballs, which wasn't very funny, btw. Although Roger Rees does his best with what he's given, nobody else can be Alan Rickman. Blinkin attacking the tree, and his temporary sight are otherwise the funniest parts of this movie. And while they made me laugh as a 10 year old, they only get a smile of remembrance these days. Also, we get it, you're Jewish. Jesus...

Guessable?

Good, silly fun.
I hope this gets renewed. Too many British quiz shows are one-and-done. A good laugh.

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood
(2019)

Fantastic
Maybe not Tarantino's best outing, but the performances from Pitt and DiCaprio make this worthwhile. I liked the alternate history of Inglorious Basterds, and was expecting a violent saving of Tate, Folger, et al, in the same vein. Instead I watched one of the best unassuming tough guys since John McClane and his bully (dog) wreak havoc on a bunch of overconfident nutjobs, and finally a man apart get redemption. This movie was damn near perfection.

Schitt$ Creek
(2015)

Where has Dan Levy been?
This show is amazing. Dan Levy shines in an amazing cast, and he and his father also write the show! Where has this man been before this? Brilliant.

The Twilight Zone: Nightmare at 30,000 Feet
(2019)
Episode 2, Season 1

Privileged Class?
Takes you out of it a bit and right at the start! Best time, I suppose. Otherwise well acted. Ending wasn't great.

Catching Milat
(2015)

Underwritten and Vague
A fascinating and horrific tale that's underwritten and vague. While some actual quotes make their way in to the script, too much of what happened is glossed over. For a 3 hour+ miniseries, so much more could've been included. Most of the cast aquits itself quite well. Kennard is very good as the title character and Field is near-flawless as always. However, top-billed (?!) Cawthorne is difficult to watch; his expression never changes, even when he's shouting or upset and should show some sort of emotion. Watch Crime Investigation Australia (2005) and/or Wolf Creek (2005) instead.

Cobra Kai
(2018)

Wish I could forget I watched it.
I was actually depressed after watching this show. Cheesy nostalgia, montages, sometimes questionable acting, obvious plotting...it's damn-near perfect. And I was depressed because it was over. Zabka is brilliant, Xolo Maridueña is perfectly cast, the writing couldn't be better, the action is fantastic, and it's funny as hell. I wish I could forget I watched it because I'll never see it for the first time again. Bring on series two!

Velvet Buzzsaw
(2019)

Okay, not great.
A meandering story without much suspense. Gyllenhaal is outstanding among a talented cast, although Diggs is pedestrian and way out of his league.
