Endings, Beginnings
(2019)

Beautiful Cinematography but tedious storyline
The movie is visually beautiful and it pulls you in immediately with striking visuals and beautiful lighting. However after a few minutes the tedious boring storyline and the awkward improvised dialogue from the actors proceeds to ruin everything. The main character is unlikable and has no redeeming qualities besides the fact that her status as a rich white woman allows her to fail upwards and never have to face the consequences of her poor decisions and sloppy behaviour. The two male co-stars are okay, but even the combined hotness of Jamie Dornan and Sebastian Stan does not manage to salvage this movie.

Ce que le jour doit à la nuit

Amazing, emotional, great acting
This was such a great movie, i definitely recommend, It is set in colonial Algeria, and follows the story of a young Arab Jonas who is torn between being with the girl that he loves and honoring a promes he made to her mother. It has the independence war as a backdrop, and several historical events are portrayed such as the revolution and the liberation of Algeria. The injustice and cruelty of the colonial French is also showed without being too accentuated. The the ending is very emotional and had me crying for at least half an hour, and Foua'd is gorgeous of course! Overall a great movie about missing out on the love of your life.
