Road House
(2024)

Entertaining
I vaguely remember liking the original Roadhouse. I need to rewatch it. I found this movie entertaining. Jake Gyllenhaal was pretty ripped, and believable as a tough guy. The conclusion of the final fight was pretty epic. I don't think the film deserves all the hate it's getting, I can suspect what's triggering it though. Mr. McGregor needs to take some acting classes if he wants to continue his acting career, his fight scenes were pretty good though.

I didn't mind the Florida setting. There was a lot of beautiful scenery, and great boat scenes. As imperfect as remakes can be, I like them, because they bring stories to a new generation.

Damsel
(2024)

Enjoy the show
I liked this film. It has a great heroine, great relationships, the princess saves herself with an assist from her dad and his team, while rehabbing a vengeful and lonely dragon into a great ally.

Robin Wright comes full circle from her character in The Princess Bride.

I disagree with the reviewer critical of the princess for cutting her hair. If she is running for her life from a dragon with sharp claws it makes since to cut it short, so it's less likely to snag or get grabbed. She probably did not have a scrunchie handy that could handle that amount of hair.

I hoping for a Damsel part 2, where the dragon takes her around the world.

Bama Rush
(2023)

A theory on the off topics scenes
I watched this out of curiosity. It made me glad I was in sports in college instead of trying to rush sororities. Learning about "the machine" was very interesting.

I kind of wonder if the off topic scenes where the director discusses her alopecia were filler. Once the college and the sorority members tried to shut down the documentary, it must have been harder and harder to get footage, so maybe she had to put that in there to use up time. I feel horrible that she went through that, but it seemed like she was trying to make it all about her.

I am concerned about the girls who are featured in the documentary. Are they going to face hate, and retaliation, cyberbullying?? I hope they're okay.

Special Ops: Lioness
(2023)

Entertaining so far
Some people need to calm down. First off this is a fictional show not a documentary. A commenter said that her mile and a half time of 8 minutes was unrealistic, it's actually approximately 5:10 mile pace which should be doable for somebody who used to run the 800 meters as she said. Many high school and college runners could easily run that pace. In the second episode they show her doing calisthenics and running, hence her tip top form.

Many women stay with abusive men longer than they should. No she may not be as strong as a big burly Navy SEAL, but could a big burly Navy SEAL befriend the girl she's supposed to befriend which is her first mission?? The only issue I have is her boasting about how many pull-ups she could do. If you're a woman and you want to make female enemies, you should say things like that. She should have just pumped out the pull-ups without making such a big deal about it. But, Tyler Sheridans is a man, so maybe he doesn't know that. I look forward to new episodes since Joe Pickett is ending soon.

No Time to Die
(2021)

Entertaining James Bond
I found this movie very enjoyable and entertaining. It was slightly easier to follow than some other Bond films. I think they hinted at a new female Bond just to trigger the anti-woke mob and make their heads explode. Of course the next James Bond will be a man. It's so silly. Their are minorities on earth, and hence it's no big deal for them to be in films. Relax people. I did not like the ending though.

Prey
(2021)

Trying to find positives
The English dubbing was pretty good, which is not always the case. You can entertain yourself by criticizing the characters poor decision making, and hand-to-hand combat skills. Some of the actors are quite handsome. Critiquing and debating what we would have done differently while watching the movie made it amusing overall.

The Tomorrow War
(2021)

Entertaining and fun
Okay when I see a decent movie getting one and two star reviews I have to post. This was an entertaining film, Sometimes it's a little far fetched, but it's make believe. It's not all action with no story which is refreshing. There is a good combination of both with a nice dose of humour. I have a theory as to what may have triggered some of the rampage reviewers. I will leave that to your imagination.

The Ice Road
(2021)

A good show in the snow
My goodness people are harsh. I love a good Liam film. I don't understand why people are calling it predictable. I thought it had a unique and interesting story. Granted some CGI looks circa mid 90s, and the acting is not always oscar-worthy, but it kept me entertained. It was neat to see the Northern US in southern Canada featured in a movie.

Zack Snyder's Justice League
(2021)

Best director's cut ever
New and improved. Wow , so much more story so much more emotion. It was inspiring and inspirational. Excellent job. Good show.

For All Mankind
(2019)

Women and minorities in space oh my
I love this show. The alternate reality is very interesting. Joel Kinnaman does great. It is disappointing that movies and TV shows can feature man eating sharks, monsters, zombies, and natural disasters and the thing that scares some people the most is a woman or minority and one of the leading roles of a fictional TV show.

Ava
(2020)

Entertaining enough
Interesting cast, beautiful scenery and entertaining story. I didn't mind the melodrama, the toxic mom was relatable, and her family issues explained her alcoholism. Milla Jovovich still dominates in this arena, but Jessica put on a decent show. My boyfriend chuckled that Jessica would not be able to beat up all those men... maybe he's being sexist??

Terminator: Dark Fate
(2019)

Pretty darn good. A lot of negativity from sexist haters.
I almost did not see this movie because of the negativity spewed at it, but I had to check it out because I'm a die-hard Terminator fan. I'm glad I did because of all the Terminator movies I would rank it third behind the original and T2. It's a spectacular Terminator Battle Royale with comedy and even some Terminator chivalry. I think a lot of the negative comments are coming from men whose manhood is challenged by females in leading roles. Come on guys we're just putting your insecurities on display. Great flick so glad I checked it out.

Little Fires Everywhere
(2020)

I signed up for Hulu for this show
Okay, okay I had to write a review because people seem to be piling on Kerry Washington regarding her facial expressions. People are saying it's over acting. Not necessarily, I've met women who regularly scowl, sneer, glare, side eye, stink eye other women on a regular basis. Even women who don't really deserve it. If you have not experienced this, consider yourself lucky, but it's not inaccurate. Overall I love the show it's addictive and binge-worthy. My boyfriend is even into it which is very surprising. Reese and Kerry are great and I love the 90s set, although the one guys high top hair do would be a more appropriate for the eighties and early nineties not 1997. He should have a short fade. No biggie though good show.

3022
(2019)

The beginning and end of the movie indicate the year is not 3022
The people saying that the year of the movie is 3022 did not pay attention to the beginning or the end. I thought this was a decent low budget sci-fi movie. I thought the acting was great, and I consider it a star-studded cast. People should make sure to mark spoilers when they are spoiling the plot of the movie. Paraphrasing the plot is not a review.

Spinning Out
(2020)

Great show 10.0
Okay, I'm using the old scoring system, and I actually rated it an 8. Although I loved the show it's not perfect, but who or what really is anyway. I love sports drama movies and TV shows, and this one fit the bill. First off I loved seeing January Jones as a toxic / struggling mom, and Johnny Weir as a catty and overly competitive competitor.

The show has A LOT of drama and address a lot of issues like toxic moms, stage moms, sibling rivalry, extreme competition, relational aggression, parental pressure, love triangles, mental health and pushing through injury to name a few. The characters really get put through the ringer. The main theme that I got out of it was persevering through extreme adversity, and never giving up.

I'm annoyed at some of the catty comment being made about whether the actresses look like real athletes. Did the catty commenters completely miss the story line about an athlete becoming anorexic? The actresses do a great job of portraying the variety of body types you see in real life, and in competition in many different sports. Great show, loved it.

The King
(2019)

Pretty darn great
This is an excellent film. It kept my attention from start to finish. It has a great set, cinematography, and actors. I had only recently heard of Timothy Calumet because of the Margot Robbie photobomb at the Oscars. He's an amazing actor. This film has so many great actors, Ben mendelsohn, John Edgerton, Robert Patterson, Stannis Baratheon's wife, Johnny Depp's daughter. Great job.

I do want to add that movies are not documentaries. I don't expect them to be a blow-by-blow of History. Movies like this do encourage me to research what really happened. Movies are movies I think people are smart enough to realize that they add, change, and fabricate things for dramatic effect.

T-34
(2018)

An epic reminder to check out foreign films
I've seen countless WWII movies from mostly the US or British perspective. I thought I'd check this out since the Russians were a big part of the Allies success over the Nazis. I'm glad I did. The film draws you in from the first scene and keeps you entertained. I cared about the characters. It has great non-stop action with a few doses of comedy. Oh and excellent soundtrack. Pretty decent special effects. I loved the German forest it was beautiful.

My only minor complaint was the version I watched was dubbed in English. The voice actors were great, but I like hearing the Russian language or at least Russian accents. I took Russian in high school and I like to see how much I can remember and it's a neat language to hear.

Green Book
(2018)

Loved it
I have become hesitant to watch movies that feature racism from back in the day. I tend to find them depressing and upsetting. Although this movie did feature racism it also had great comedy, and was uplifting overall.

I was so sorry to hear of all the controversies the movie faced. I never expect movies like this to be absolute documentaries, with a blow-by-blow of what actually happened. I love Mahershala and Viggo and think they did excellent.

I did want to point out the "Elephant in the room" Viggo Mortensen is Danish and he's portraying in Italian isn't that a "Race swap" or "Culteral appropriation". It interfered with my "immersion into the film".... I'm totally just kidding, some people need to calm down about that stuff. : )

Lost in Space
(2018)

More positives then negatives
I like to rate shows when I feel that they are being unfairly bashed. I never saw the original series, I just remember seeing clips of it on TV , and remember the robot as a kid. I did like the 1998 movie. The special effects are great. The Robinson family is kind of dysfunctional, but I think that's realistic because a lot of families are. They do take it to the extreme. The amount of zingers and toxicity can be a bit much.

Also there are plenty of families where the mother is dominant and has a grudge towards the father, so again realistic. The mother is an engineer / rocket scientist so I don't see how her acting in the leadership role is arrogant or unrealistic.

Obviously Judy is either adopted, or Mr. Robinson's biracial stepdaughter people should know that.

They are in constant peril, one thing after the other, it never lets up. But they are in space on a foreign planet on which they crash landed so I guess that's how it goes. Some sci-fi shows get too bogged down in the tedium of everyday life, and get really boring.

I did like the robot and hope he makes a comeback. I wish they would have done more to make the planet they were on look different. It just looked like Earth with a bunch of CGI dinosaur mutants.

Overall the show did draw me In I watched it in 2 days. I look forward to season 2. I hope there's less verbal jabbing back and forth between the family and other colonists because that got tedious.

Oh I completely forgot to address doctor Smith. I'm extremely curious to know her backstory. Is she just completely crazy? The amount of chaos she created was just unwarranted given her situation.

Yes yes there were some sketchy unrealistic scenes, added for dramatic effect that will annoy some people, but I still found it entertaining overall.

Dumbo
(2019)

Let's get ready for Dumboooooo.
I haven't seen Dumbo since I was a kid but remember liking it very much. I could tell that the plot was very different from the original even though I really didn't remember all the details of the original until I pulled it up on Wikipedia. I miss the characters of The Mouse and the crow, and especially the song "when I see an elephant fly. I would have liked a little more nostalgia, but it was still enjoyable.

Hotel Mumbai
(2018)

Pillow soaked in tears
Exceptional film. Makes you almost feel like you are there. Amazing acting. I'm so sad that anything like this happened. I'm not sure how anyone could call this movie boring. The climactic scenes are nerve wracking and brought me to an extreme amount of tears.

In the Shadow of the Moon
(2019)

Review details
I did want to point out that the time traveling serial killer was biracial and if you look at her father he looked like he may be from India or something to that effect. So that would make her not African American. I do agree that it started better than it ended.

Us
(2019)

Well okay now
I wouldn't say this is as bad as people are saying. It's kind of a horror, comedy, farce Fusion. But kind of inaccurate. Once team above-ground figured out that the red pajama scissor wielding people were killing them, team above ground would dominate. We have the military the police and the US is the gun capital of the world. It would probably be like The Purge but the above grounders could take them out especially with all the terrorist attacks and shootings we have experienced Americans would defend themselves a lot better. I did like the daughter swap twist at the end that was unexpected. Keep making movies Mr Peele you are honing your craft

Serengeti
(2019)

Almost Game of Thrones for Animals
Maybe a slight exaggeration, but I'm really enjoying the show. I'm so sad that the rip it to shredders are going to work on this. My first thought was the creators are trying to piggy back off of the Lion King Reboot, and why not.

First off animals DO have emotions and feelings, I loved the names, story lines, drama, cinematography and narration. The story moves from pride, to pack, to flock, to heard. All of the different "houses" of the Serengeti. I actually found myself sometimes rooting for the predators because of the storyline. There are great stories of heart brake, resilience, redemption and reunion.

Also I had to add, so what if they edited the scene with the baby zebra in the river. They did it for dramatic effect. The poor thing went through enough of an ordeal anyway, you'd think people would focus more on empathizing with the poor thing, Yes they occasionally add stuff for dramatic effect. They may have even sent some the animals to acting class and provided scripts...Just kidding. Let's take over criticalness down a notch and appreciate all the hard work they put in. I know I could not film lions, wild dogs, hyenas, crocodiles etc.

Cold Pursuit
(2019)

An excellent adaptation
Sometimes I worry when they redo a foreign film with an American version, because sometimes the essence of the film is Lost. That's not the case with this film they did a great job. The storyline is very similar to the original version, but there are a lot of slight changes that are just as good if not better than the original film. I've always liked Liam Neeson, and as always he does an excellent job.
