A New Ray Of Hope
Yes the movie is actually a new ray of hope in Malayalam movie with its fresh story and narrative. Talents like Rajesh Pillai needs to be encouraged at a time when there is a huge black hole in the terms of fresh story. We have been treated with reused story line. Its just like saying as old wine in new bottle. Bobby and Sanjay also needs to be encouraged for treading a new path rather than using the old formulas. It also needs to be encouraged the fact that the movie doesn't boast of big names in the industry.Talented actors such as Sreenivasan and Sai Kumar had lived up to expectations. Kunchako Boban too in his new avatar has been constantly been improving with each releases. Anoop Menon and Asif Ali performance also needs a special mention.

The story interludes into different aspects of different people in different spectrum's of life on a particular day and how at one point of the story these different people join for a common goal. This is actually the highlight of the movie where it was able to bring together the feelings and complexities in emotions of different people in different spectrum's of Life Sidharth Shankar (Rahman) is getting ready for the release of his new film. On the same day, Traffic Constable Sudevan (Sreenivasan) joins back on duty, after being suspended from service for taking bribes. The day is special for Dr. Abel (Kunchako Boban) who is celebrating his first wedding anniversary. Raihan (Vineeth Sreenivasan), an aspiring television journalist, is starting his first job with an interview with Sidharth Shankar the very same day.

On a particular day at a crowded traffic junction in Kochi, Raihan and Rajeev (Asif Ali), traveling in a bike is fatally hit by a speeding car at the signal. Raihan was all set to interview the superstar, Siddharth Shankar. Also at the junction, in another car, was the surgeon Dr. Abel.

Raihan goes into comma and is declared brain dead although he is kept alive using ventilator. Meanwhile, Siddharth's ailing daughter's condition becomes worse and she urgently needs a heart transplant. At first Raihan's parents does not agree to take their son of the ventilator and donate their son's heart but Rajeev and Raihan's girlfriend persuades them into it. Now that the heart is available, the problem was with transporting it from Kochi to Palakkad. No chartered flights or helicopters were available and so the heart has to be taken by road. Someone has to drive the 150 kilometers in under two hours during the rush traffic.

City Police Commisoner Ajmal Nazar (Anoop Menon) is asked to carry out the mission. He initially refuses considering the complexity and risk involved in the mission. But finally he heeds to the persuasion of Dr.Simon D'souza (Jose Prakash). Sudevan, being an experience driver who has driven as an escort for ministers, volunteers to be the driver of the Jeep because he wanted to regain the name he lost due to the bribe incident. Accompanying them on this mission is Dr Abel and Rajeev.

Everything goes smoothly for sometime. But at a point the police team loses contact with the vehicle and it mysteriously disappears. Later it was understood that before the mission commenced, Dr Abel had hit and run his wife when he discovered her affair with his best friend. Abel tries to sabotage the mission in an attempt to escape, but Sudevan and Rajeev manages to convince him to save the girl's life. All goes well and they reach the hospital in time to save the girl's life.

I would give 8 out of 10 for this movie for its freshness in thought and the attempt to convert it into a watchable movie without the usual gimmicks of heavily invested movies. Thumps up for all those behind the movie and hope to be treated with more of such movies in future

Makeup Man
(2011)

Predictable Jayaram Story and Climax
When a movie is directed by Shafi we know what to except from the movie. A combination of full length comedy movie with lesser importance to a strong story line. But still it would once in a while give memorable characters and dialogs such as Innocent in Kalyana Raman and Salim Kumar in Pulival Kalyanam.

The film has Jayaram as Balu, who is amidst losses after floating an event management company. He is in such deep debt that he has to enter his own house after dark like a thief to avoid bumping into his many creditors. It is in this dismal situation that he is forced to take care of Soorya (Sheela), who is madly in love with him and has fled from her home before her marriage to be with him. Balu's only company in the city is a film production manager Kichu Manjaly (Suraj Venjarammoodu), who arranges their stay in the hotel room allotted for a new heroine of the movie. Confusions galore follows and Soorya is forced to act as the new face and soon she is selected as the heroine of the new film 'Cindrella' by director Siddharth(Siddique), which is under production. The director changes her name to 'Anamika' and in order to stay close with her, Balu takes the role of her personal makeup man.. The climax of the movie seems to be goofed up due its predictable nature.

Jagathi didn't had much to do in the movie compared to Suraj Venjaaramoodu. Siddique was pick of the lot as a supporting role. Prithviraj,Kunchakko did a cameo appearance without much importance to their roles. Songs are below average considering the talent and capability of Vidhyasagar and there isn't much to pick as for hummable tunes I wouldn't recommend this as an entertainer and worth enough to be seen more than once with its weak story line and climax. Rather recommend the older movies of director such as Kalyana Raman, Chocolate and Pulival Kalyanam if you are looking for a full length comedy movie.

Swapnam Kondu Thulabharam
(2003)

One of the Poorly Scripted Movies
When we think of Rajasenan movies, first thing that comes to our mind is a string of successful comedy movies with Jayaram in lead. Movies such as Meleparambil Aanveedu,Ayalathe Adheham,C.I.D Unnikirishnan couldn't be classified as a sort of classic films ever for the depth of their stories but would always be remembered for its light hearted, natural fun and clean comedies mostly related with the common people we see next door in our life on a daily basis without the sort of double meaning jokes or mimicry currently disguised as comedy movies.

But its not the case with Swapnam Kondu Thulabharam. To be frank the basic plot for the movie was a good one but didn't had necessary ingredients to be successful commercial movie. The story is basically of two brothers Vishnu(Suresh Gopi) a professor, soft spoken, academic, loving brother and caring son for his parents (Janardhanan and SreeVidhya) and having all sorts of virtues which can be associated with a good man and Aniyankuttan(Kunchako Boban) a fun loving college student and enjoying his life. But Aniyankuttan somehow believes that there always has been a partiality shown towards him by his parents while sharing love. He isn't preferred over his brother for inaugurating the new showrooms opened by the family and even partiality while sharing sweets in another occasion by giving in a much smaller glass than his brother. All this might seem to be curious for audience for having grudge over his own brother but somehow makes part of the story. The movie isn't devoid of usual heroines, though faulty scripting doesn't give them enough prominence in movie. Srividhya(Prabhavathi)a college student studying in the same college as of Aniyankuttan is having a crush on Vishnu for a long time and tries every way to get his love and even gets closed as a sister with Anniyankuttan to get close to her love Vishnu. Kalyani(Nandana),Anniyankuttans another college mate who has crush on Anniyankuttan, but somehow ignored by Anniyankuttan. The turning point in the movie comes when Anniyankuttan, who believes that Srividhya is in love with him finds out that she has been loving Vishnu and even assumes that Vishnu has, as usual taken away his happiness. He even assumes that he is an adopted child and that's why he has been ignored and devoid of all happiness. His revenge towards Vishnu and the Vishnu efforts to get back his brother forms the rest of the movie proceedings and climax.

The movie in no way can be called an entertainer and could be termed as boring to a certain extent due to its faulty scripting.Talented actor like Jagathi was totally wasted with his character and his comical situations in the movie where short of bringing laugh to the audience. Janardhanan and Sreevidhya tried to give their best with the space given to them in the movie. The songs by Ouseppachan though not of his usual repute, were on an average. The pick of the lot would be Kingini Poove...

I wouldn't recommend this movie for even one time watching, rather recommend the old movies of the same director such as Meleparambil Aanveedu,Ayalathe Adheham,Vardhakya puranam,Sreekrishnapurathe nakshatrathilakam.Diliwalarajakumaran.... if you wish to spend almost 2 hrs for a standard clean comedy movie
