Every single thing about this episode is trying to grab your attention at once, from irritating corny blues rock to the main character just bickering on and on in the most unlikable way.
Theres an odd trend i see of this stuff in this show, they seem to think there is something really interesting about a character that is just flat out irritating, and has no character arc. Also, i get that part of the gimmick is that its a bit raunchy or whatever, but the way women are treated is pretty gross and i don't know why they think its funny.
The only good thing i can say for this one is that the absurd character and set designs are fantastic in a purposefully stupid kind of way. I think this is the only part they nailed. Its a little like a super low budget Tim Burton crossed with Idiocracy and Fallout. If it weren't for the visual design this episode would probably get a 2.
The ending on this one is absolute nonsense, totally unrelated to the rest of the episode. Again, it actually looks great, but the plot here is kind of like a family guy joke, it just meanders around for no reason and thats the joke.

Listen, i get it,m the episode is slower than the one before it, its the slowest episode of the series so far, and its slow on the scale o f TV. IMO though, it took guts for the production team to make this choice and it was the right one.
How do you make an episode about a quiet abandoned place without adding some quiet abandoned mood? How do you get more personal without slowing down and watching the ways a person carries themselves? The answer to all these for me is you don't, this was the only way to tell this part of the story correctly.
Now i wanna ask you: Is severance just a show about "Getting the information?" because thats what these poor ratings assume, is that Severance failed in its "Job" to provide you with a constant drip of new information at a high level of intensity. Thats not how i see the show, and thats not how i think the creators see the show either, and for good reason, that would sap the humanity out of the show.
This episode took a character we knew barely anything about, turned what little we knew on its head, and set the whole series on a new course IMO. IF you can't handle a slight lull in thee pacing maybe severing would be a better option for you.

Its not gonna wow your or suprise you with its plot twists, and maybe halfway through the plot lags for a second and people seem to be kind of repeating points they already made, but overall the characterization here is good, and the script tackles socio-political ground that was less well-worn in the 90s when it came out.
The end at least adds a few details to what you were expecting to happen, so it's not one of the "Yes, and?" episode of the outer limit, but neither is it one of the "Woah!" episodes. More like one of the "Oof, geez, dark..." episodes.
I might give this an 8 if i had more of a stomach for the pseudo-military type of episodes, but since thats my least favorite type of episode in this series, i gave it a 7.
