Megas XLR
(2004)

One of the Greatest Shows on Television
Like many people, when I first heard about Megas, I was skeptical. I have never been a huge fan of giant robot shows (Voltron, Gundam W, Big O, and G Gundam being the exceptions) so I figured this would be nothing special.

Boy, was I ever wrong when I finally started watching the show.

Megas XLR is about a super robot from the future built by the destructive race known as the Glorft. With their next target being Earth, a human girl named Kiva steals the robot and sends it back in time. It's found in a junkyard in Jersey City by a slacker/gamer/anime fan/wrestling fan/gearhead named Coop and his girl-obsessed sidekick Jamie. Coop completely rebuilds the robot, using his car and various video game controls to pilot it. When Kiva attempts to reclaim Megas, she finds that she can't even pilot it anymore! Kiva then recruits Coop and Jamie to help her fight the Glorft, who have also traveled back in time to reclaim Megas.

The show parodies nearly everything from the 1980's to the present, be it movies, anime, video games, or whatever else the creators think of that day. The blend of action, comedy, and even some serious moments cause the show to be downright entertaining on nearly every level. If you have not watched Megas XLR yet, I advise you to give the show a try.

Gekijô-ban - Bishôjo senshi Sêrâ Mûn R
(1993)

The Best of All Sailor Moon by Far
Sailor Moon, in total, is 200 episodes, three movies, and two TV specials (excluding the live stage shows and such). In any series that I enjoy that is that extravagant, I tend to have a hard time picking out what is truly the best showing. This is not one of those cases, as Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon R is easily the best showing of the entire Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon series.

The storyline is downright awesome, as die-hard fans finally get some insight into Mamoru's (Darien's) past and what he went through as a child. Also nice is that the villain isn't truly evil, just a lonely being whose feelings have been manipulated towards evil.

The animation is excellent. Every movement flows nicely, as is usually expected of anime movies. Also great is the music. Aside from the original background music, every Sailor Soldier gets her own transformation music, and Sailor Moon's is punched up a bit. All of this great music is capped off by the theme of the movie, Moon Revenge, a song sung by the five Soldiers.

For anyone who questions whether Sailor Moon is worth watching, I suggest you see this movie first, as it is the best showing and most representative of the series.

Tarzan the Ape Man
(1981)

Bad movie, but with nudity!
This movie is quite awful, but it's hard to completely hate something when Bo Derek parades around topless for more than half the flick. The acting is beyond sub-par, and the ha-halarious bits with the monkeys gets old fast. This is little more than an excuse to have Bo take her clothes off, along with a bunch of "natives" who are usually topless. Watch it if your some horny dude who hasn't got a date and hasn't seen Bo nude in a while. Better yet, go find some nude celebrity website and save yourself the trouble of watching this entire piece of junk just for some topless scenes.
