Former CIA spies Emily (Cameron Diaz) and Matt (Jamie Foxx) are pulled back into espionage after their secret identities are exposed.
Right, do not believe the reviews that it's a bad movie, that it's formula, that it's badly made and that it's not funny. OK it is formula, but so are 90% of all movies made these days. That doesn't mean they're bad, they present the same story, but in multiple different ways and with different people. How many original stories can you name in theatre, film or books? Yeah...not many.
That said, I do like Diaz but only in a narrow genre of films. I like Jamie Foxx, but only in a narrow genre of films. This is right bang in the middle of their lane, and they both shine. They're quick, and witty, and as seasoned and experienced actors they deliver everything perfectly without trying to be funny or dramatic or anything else. I don't rate this film over Mr and Mrs Smith, but I do rate Diaz's and Foxx's performances way better than Pitt's and Jolie. McKenna Roberts as daughter Alice absolutely shines as always, reminding me a little of a moody Amandla Stenberg. Even the inexperienced Rylan Jackson turns in a fine performance as the nerdy son, Leo.
It's a very fun, rolicking ride with some great effects, some fab banter, great acting and some belly laughs along the way. A solid 7 for this fine and enjoyable movie.

Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) is tasked with running the traditionally secret conclave after the unexpected death of the Pope. Once the Catholic Church's most powerful leaders have gathered from around the world and are locked together in the Vatican halls, Lawrence uncovers a trail of deep secrets left in the dead Pope's wake--secrets which could shake the foundations of the Church.
I was slow to watch this as I didn't think it was going to be of interest to me. However, Fiennes is excellent in his role as Cardinal Lawrence, and Tucci is his masterful self as Cardinal Bellini. The many faceted John Lithgow finds some deep gravitas in his soul to bring us a brilliant representation of Cardinal Tremblay. The acting isn't in question then and is more than capable from everyone. The film goes through the very genuine traditions of choosing a new pope, including burning the votes and releasing dye so that the watching people know when a new pope has finally been chosen. I very much liked that there was an admission that even senior church figures were attacked by problems within their faith, and were subject to mortal desires and weaknesses. There was also a scene where one cardinal tries to bring the church against the 'war' that they see had started between Islam and Christianity. But it was down to a new cardinal to revise the tenets of their faith and pour water on the fire of malcontent.
There is a stunning twist at the end and I can't make my mind up if it is in support of a modern ideology or not. The point is made by one of the cardinals that if god made us we must accept what he made. However god did not make us. He only made Adam and Eve in his own image, and then they made all subsequent men and women. So it tries to make a point, but fails on a theosophical level. Nevertheless, it was a very enthralling film with great acting, clever photography, a suitable score and excellent dialogue. I'm very glad I watched it. I give it a solid 7.

After newlywed Georgina's (Julia Stiles) billionaire husband Constantine (Anthony LaPaglia) is killed in a yacht explosion, she is shocked to discover the fortune and lifestyle he maintained was surrounded by violence, lies, secrets and murder. She soon must step out of her comfort zone to protect the family and herself.
I watched this as the local press were saying everyone was raving about it, and because Julia Stiles stars. She used to be one of my favourite actors but I've not seen her for a while. After the first 2 episodes I immediately got the strong impression that the local media was probably doing a paid gig by hyping it up. The acting was boring, the story was ok'ish, the dialogue was at times silly and childish, not one single actor managed to imbue their character with any real presence in the series, I simply couldn't take it seriously. It made me think of some 1st year amateur dramatic plays I've seen at college. As much as I like Julia Stiles this is not her type of film because she was also awful in it, although possibly one of the better actors in the series. So I stopped at 2 episodes and did not bother investing more time in a series that I am 100% certain will not get any better. I give it a 3 because it's so poorly done.
