It had potential, but it missed one important part of this type of horror. It says it is based on the writings of Lovecraft. His writings are big on monsters, right? This entire movie has no payoff: you never get to see the monster. Fail. Otherwise good.

I consider myself an aficionado of found footage horror films. I have seen them all, even the most obscure and rare ones. The Curse of Aurore is good. First, it's based on a real case, so that makes it more interesting. Second, the acting is really good, certainly good enough to not distract from the story. Third, there are little Easter eggs here and there that I picked up on, but I will not spoil them for you. Finally, cult movies are right up my alley. Definitely worth a watch.

So, the acting was not that bad to be honest, and the concept was OK, but the effects were cheap and horrible, and the plot was boring and went nowhere. With a huge budget, alright maybe, but this is a low-budget flick and just obviously cheap.

Bad writing, low budget, terrible acting except for maybe one or two characters. Not scary, no SFX. It looks like a film school student's freshman project. I actually wish a cult would have kidnapped me so I would not have had to suffer through this stinker.

It's a solid entry in the werewolf genre, and I am very picky about horror. The werewolves look great, and there is enough character development and drama to make it really interesting. Highly recommended if you like this genre.

If you have ever spent time among the natives of the Ozarks and Appalachians, then you know that they are, for the most part, good people, but deeply superstitious. this wonderful film demonstrates the damage that can be done by people guided by superstition versus reality, and the helpless victims that it can hurt. There are enough questions for the viewer to make it genuinely spooky and unsure, but also there is a great message. The acting, filmography, and plot are super. I highly recommend this movie if you have an interest in the superstitions of rural people.

Terrible, low-budget garbage. Don't waste your time or money.

You really have to understand Asian/Chinese/Taiwanese cinema and culture to appreciate this film. The main idea is this: who is the real monster: a monster who eats to live, or humans who delight in tormenting others? As someone who was bullied in school, I appreciate this film. A monster made a monster through no fault of her own, trying to survive, versus teenage humans who take great joy in tormenting and hurting others. Who, indeed, is the real monster? And, what can turn a good person into a monster? Is there redemption for such a person? Do parents create monsters in their children? This is a great film if you understand themes in Asian cinema. Keep in mind that it is magical realism, like many Asian films. It is both in reality, and in a fantasy world. It is both a story, and an allegory. It touches many themes in Asian culture, too many to list here. If you are willing to explore the rich world of Asian cinema and culture, then you will enjoy the hell out of this masterpiece. If you approach it from a Western horror movie mindset, then you might not like it.

The movie is so-so, but the sound mixing is terrible! The actors mutter almost inaudibly, so you have to turn up the volume, then music or a sound will blast through so loud that your eardrums rupture. Possibly the worst sound mixing on a film that I have ever heard, and I have heard some really bad ones! Inexcusable!

They were trying to create some sort of Shakespearian "Descent into madness" theme, but these writers, my friend, are no Shakespeare. If you enjoy over an hour of a chubby guy breaking down like a wimp and crying, with the occasional interlude of "hearing things" and with literally no monster view payoff in the end, then this is your lucky day! Otherwise, avoid this garbage. It is a moralizing flop, and they did not even reward the viewer with a monster sighting. I mean, a guy in a furry monster suit would have been better than nothing!

If you enjoy over an hour of three people walking around and bickering, then this film is for you!

The most horrifying thing about this pitiful excuse for a middle school film project is the acting, the plot, the writing: heck, it is all terrible. Only watch this is you are about to hang yourself and want yet another reason to.

The only positive thing I can say about this found footage movie is that, compared to most found footage movies, the acting in this one is not terrible. Now, the negatives. First, the characters, especially the two alpha male guys, were so obnoxious, such douchebag pricks, that I could not wait until they died. Second, the movie was a bit more than 3/4 over before anything "horror" happened. That's right, the vast majority of this film is just some immature pricks yelling at one another. Finally, when something happens, it is not supernatural or even scary in any way. Third, we never find out who the villain is, which is so unsatisfying, given that I had to sit through most of the movie before any action happened. There was no character development, no plot development, no mystery, no build up to a climax, no denouement: just a bunch of hillbilly, immature pricks cursing and yelling. The most horrifying thing about this movie is that I wasted a portion of my life to watch it.

This is possibly one of the worst movies ever made. It's like some film school students found some "actors" and agreed to pay them in beer and pizza if they would "act' in their semester project movie.

The characters are total douchebags who deserve nothing less than death. There are enormous logical and plot holes: if you found a dead body, would it disconcert you in the slightest? Hmm.

The acting is more like shouting, and nothing about it seems natural: it is all just a bunch of film students trying to remember their lines.

The plot itself is horrible. The "activist group" might as well be serial killers, and the "internal conflicts" between the members are forced and juvenile.

I think I made better movies as a kid with a 1980s VCRrecorder and my little friends. This movie is total crap. In fact, it is a Crap-See incident.

Four immature, childish millennial douche-bags try to drive to a cabin to party, and on the way, they meet some psycho hillbillies. They make survival mistake after mistake. Most of the time, they are screaming at each other like naughty little girls while the one person in the movie you want to see survive -- the little sister -- gets hurt.

I personally like found footage and psycho hillbilly movies, but almost nothing happens in this one. If you like puerile man-children and their idiot girlfriends screaming at one another in the woods, then this is the movie for you. If not, you can do better.
