Le miroir de l'eau
(2004)

medium and sixth sense French style
An exciting unraveling murder history with believable acting and an original story line. If you like shows like Medium and/or the movie the "Sixth Sense", you will like this.

It is really very different from these, much less focused on psychic novelty. It includes an revealing family secrets leitmotif, not totally related to the series of events that seem to take place from a different plane. These two elements blend together and through secondary relationship stories are always balanced. Throughout the movie the plot is believable, exciting and engrossing.

The film includes 4 episodes and if you can't get the French DVD (already available), you will really be in anticipation of each part of the series. .... the rest you really should see. A definite two thumbs up.

Los jornaleros
(2003)

A happy ending to a sad reality
Mexico meets the United States in this gritty and sad, yet ultimately fulfilling story about daily Mexican workers in California. The brothers each have stories of hard work, drug dealing, prostitution and the happiest one in the end has a gay wedding.

The most wonderful aspect of seeing this film is that it is not a parody, a comedy, farcical or unrealistic. It does give a cinematic yet accurate portrayal of the issues facing immigrant Latin Americans and especially Mexicans. The relationships enable you to share the Mexican joyfulness, family and sorrows while they discover America and begin to translate their values. A MUST-SEE for anyone interested in these modern-day events and intercultural relations in any way. Most of all, it was an enjoyable movie.

Les beaux jours
(2003)

HEARTWARMING FILM FOR A COLD WINTER
On TV 5 this winter, the film tells the story of a French working class group in 1936. It is charming and heartwarming, with a French flair that even if you need to read the subtitles you will appreciate greatly.

Fascinating political film
A heartwrenching drama, and touching film for a political disaster at the doorstep of the U.S...this film is a must for anyone interested in using the cinema to know today's Cuba through an extremely tragic but realistic story

Bednyy, bednyy Pavel

Excellent historical intriguing film
A must even for people who hate subtitles! This movie is what going to the cinema is all about: it has a truly intriguing plot, a historical setting that is well represented, and for people outside Russia provides the perfect opportunity to get to know that country better while enjoying it thoroughly. I asked a friend who usually sees only American films to the movie, and after it he declared that he was ready to renounce Hollywood. The way the film keeps your interest, is historical as well as exotic, and provides a compete thrill has become uncommon.
