Team America: World Police
(2004)

So Republican it has to be Democratic
I just got back from a sneak preview of "Team America: World Police" and it is outstanding. I have always been frightened of puppets. Today gave me a new reason to be afraid. Trey Parker and Matt Stone were amazing in this hilarious parody of the United States view on the 'War on Terrorism."

The film opens with a quick viewing of what "Team America' really do. They utterly obliterate terrorists. And thats an understatement. Then the true plot is uncovered. So Team America recruits an actor to join their ranks as a spy. From then on the comedy only gets better. Kim Jong Il'as the antagonist can only remind the audience of Cartmen. He is portrayed as an evil little dictator who wants to destroy free society. And Team America have to stop him from doing so.

If you have seen "South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut" (1999) you will understand the musical score chosen. The songs are all written only for this movie. The songs are hilarious and completely offensive to those that they are directed to.

I must say, that this film is an excellent watch. Its not tasteful, however it is a good laugh. If you have ever wonder what exactly can happen to a puppet in ANY situation, watch this movie. The republican's never-ending desire to wipe out terrorism is illustrated in a liberal democratic style in this film. Enjoy.

The Forgotten
(2004)

Unforgettable
I always enjoy watching movies where a storyline that has never been used before becomes twisted and even more original. "The Forgotten," starring Julianne Moore, Gary Sinise and Dominic West, is about a distraught mother Terry (Moore) who is mourning over the recent loss of her nine year old son.

However she begins to feel that her husband (Anthony Edwards) and her psychatrist (Sinise) are trying to force her to forget that her child ever existed. It's only after she meets the father of another child (West), who died in the same accident that claimed the life of her son, that she begins to suspect that someone, very important, wants them to believe that their children never even existed.

Now this movie can get the blood going. Not because of the jumps you and the people will experience, but the fact that as you sit there you suspect that they are coming and beyond all reasoning you are still whipped into the wake of the event. This kind of experience is difficult to explain. You must watch the movie for yourself to understand. Seeing it twice will cause you too look for certain little things over and over, but the first time you will be taken completely by surprise.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest I give this movie an 8. -It is an excellent movie to bring a date on because whoever you bring, male or female will jump into your arms.

The Village
(2004)

Horror movie on the 'resting rock', with a real twist
I do apologize for the title. I will not give up anything and there is a small place in the movie called the resting rock, i will not lie. However, I will not give away spoilers.

M. Night Shyamalan's "The Village" is about a quaint, peaceful, tranquil, and boring little village in the middle of a clearing surrounded by forestry. The little village is not quiet though. People are living in fear. fear of something they have never seen, to an extent, something that has never attacked them, something they do not speak of. They have three real rules in the town. Don't let the color 'red' be seen. Don't go into the woods, and when you hear the warning bell, run like hell. Thats all well and good. But as you watch the movie, you begin to see the ultimate twists and turns that Shyamalan is known for. The acting is very good, each person seemed to feel their role as simple 19th century villagers.

The village itself is very authentic looking. The borders to the village (wooden flag polls) that line what seems to be a mile wide little town. everything down to the lock on the 'quiet room' door is that of the turn of the century. Shyamalan did another excellent job keeping the scenery authentic. Since all of his other movies were set in the late nineties and the early millenium this must have been an interesting change for him. He took that curve very well I must say. Overall, this is a hard review to write since saying anything that happened in the movie would give away a shock, I must advise you go see this one yourself. If you have a date, he/she may jump into your arms. It does shock both sexes. I saw people of all ages in the audience jumping and gasping at certain scenes. Heck even I jumped, and I do not do that very often. So I hope you'll who do watch it, enjoy it! -knightblade

The Terminal
(2004)

Do you ever feel like you're just living at the airport?
Tom Hanks, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Stanley Tucci do an excellent job in this "Cast Away" sort of movie. Tom Hanks plays Viktor Navorski from Krokasia, pronounced Crow-K-Asia, (pardon my misspelling) and in the short time he is in the air from his country, that is supposedly just south of Russia, there is a military coup in which his country's leaders are taken hostage. When he arrives at JFK he is told that because of the coup he cannot return to his homeland, or leave the Airport until the United States recognizes the coup's take over of his home country. Tucci plays self-serving head of security, Frank Dixon, at JFK. He constantly tries to trick Navorski into setting foot on U.S. Soil so he can be treated as a threat to national security. Zeta-Jones does not have as big a part in this movie as expected. She pops up every once and awhile and twists a love story into the plot. However it is neither her not Tucci who make this movie enjoyable. Hanks portrayal of innocent Navorski is what makes it a great laugh. This movie is an excellent one to take your family or girlfriend to. A Light hearted comedy that shows you what it means to be "delayed"

Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention
(1992)

The Origin of Tactical RPG
Shining Force, The Legacy of Great Intention, is the starter for most RPG games. Final Fantasy (1987) may have been a start for RPG games but the really design for battles and formatting of spells did not come until 1992. When i first played this game I had never sat down and played one like it. The battle sequences were extremely drawn out. The colors were fantastic, monsters were hideous and heroes were amazing. With the re-dux of this game for the Game Boy Advance, Shining Force is hoped to make a come back. Hopefully before the following years Shining Force II will make its way back into the video game lives and anyone out there can see what a real game. I don't denounce Final Fantasy, however Final Fantasy Tactics was knock off of this game. The battle format was a mock up of Shining Force. Tactics was a great game, however if one wants to play the game thats started the real Tactical Role Playing Games look no further then Shining Force

Shining Force II
(1993)

Outdoing the Original
This game by far is the the greatest RPG of all time. Shining Force II brings back all the outstanding features of the first but adds within several new twists: The ability to return to past areas, the establishment of multi-choices for promotion and the best part of all The Ultimate Tactical Battle. Spoiler Note: The Chess Board battle is without a doubt the Hardest Battle to ever take part in. I have tried several times but have never eliminated the entire army without suffering a single casualty. This game seems to have been shelved in the back but it was viewed by Final Fantasy apparently. Final Fantasy Tactics (1998) took this game's designs and remodeled it to seem to create their own style. This game is my personal favorite. I have beaten it several times. However I have always came back to the realm for more. RPG fans this is a must play game for you. It, and its predecessor are two of the hardest games to find. I suggest you try and find it and play it you will not regret it

Angel
(1999)

Amazing till the End
From start to finish 'Angel' was an amazing show. The character crossovers from 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' were decent. Its a pity that Glenn Quinn could not live to see this date. Angel's series finale was a spectacle. It as not short the comedy that was present in the show. Spike, Gunn and Angel each provided classic memories. Angel's allusion to the Bible, "One of you will betray me" and followed by Spike raising his hand volunteering to do so. James Marsters last time as Spike performing at a poetry slam will be unforgettable. The series' last episode brought back memories from every season. Doyle, Cordelia, Conner, even references back episodes 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer.' All in all, David Boreanaz has taken fans on a roller coaster ride these past five years. Its always tough to watch a show end. Memories of sitting back and watching it in "the good old days" will flood ones mind and make them wish they could relive those days. But when i comes down to it, to make something meaningful, make sure that it is strong until the very end. 'Angel' did that. It was good.

Scary Movie 3
(2003)

"I just wanna wish you good luck, we're all counting on you."
Before I begin, I would like to comment that after seeing the first two prequels, I had the feeling this movie would be a dramatic flop. However it was not as bad as expected. The Wayans Brothers for starters had nothing to do with the production of this film, they only receive billing for characters used from the first two movies. The actual workers for this movie, were actually people who have brought several enjoyable parodies, including executive producer Kevin Smith (Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Clerks) and director David Zucker (Airplane and Naked Gun). Scary Movie 3, starring Anna Faris, Charlie Sheen, and Leslie Neilson, itself was better then the first two combined. It is mainly composed of quick unexpected comedic mishaps, that once viewed the second time around are anticipated and pointless. The movie plays off multiple scenes from television commercials, vicarious events that were made fun of on late night shows, and any movie that apparently did well at the box office. Of the movies made fun of The Ring and Signs were used the most. Interestingly enough both The Matrix, and The Matrix Reloaded were both played off of nicely by Queen Latifah, Eddie Griffin, and George Carlin. And they were just a few of the many cameos made by well known actors including Darrell Hammond, D.L. Hughley Denise Richards, Pamela Anderson and the list goes on. Most shocking was the unlikely cameo of the `Power Twins,' former employees of Vince McMahon in the World Wrestling Federation. To make a long story short (too late) this movie was well done as compared to the last to rare and raw comedies that needed more work.
