I onde dager
(2021)

Gory but entertaining
A bit of scandinavian stereotyping with quite entertaining twists, interspersed with gory scenes.

Husband and wife who cant stand each other driving to a remote cabin somewhere in Norway. Apparently to patch-up their relationship while each one plans to have another one disappear. It is quite amusing to watch their dialog. Almost like a caricature.

At the same time not far away 3 convicts are wandering in the woods after escaping from prison... Hungry and cold. Let your imagination fill what follows in the next hour

The script is rather predictable with lots of gore, but the end is a surprise, more like a satire ... This film is not for everyone. You will like it if you enjoyed watching pulp fiction, although i would rate pulp fiction at 9/10.

Twisted murder mystery
Quite entertaining murder plot. A classic whodunit with a.. surprize ending.

Two friends from Nederlands have gone on weekend trip to a resort in Ostende, leaving their husbands behind.

The plan is to cover up for each other's flings in Ostende. Bodil is staying at her beach house and spends a night with an attractive one night stand guy. She gets a call from her friends husband that he broke her ankle and wants to talk to her and needs his wife to come home. The catch : she kept her friend's phone and texted the husband the night before that they both were there together. In the morning, after going to the beach for a swim, she finds her friends suit case in the doorway with blood all over and her friend missing. Everyone is a suspect.

Well acted, tension builds up constantly and the killer is...???

Grant this is not a cinematographic masterpiece, but is a Classic whodunit film.

A few loose ends are left untied, but this does not detract from the entertainment. Some criticize inaccuracies in depicting Belgian criminal procedure, but so what! Its still fun to watch.

A Man Called Otto

sentimental retelling of a few better plots, predictable
A pure tear jerker, retelling on the swedish original with a dose of "its a wonderful life" + Forrest Gump, plus some more. In a nutshell a grumpy widower wants to kill himself, but there is a big heart under this crusty exterior. The plot is utterly predictable, but well played The film is saved by the Marisol character truly is a star of the show. I enjoyed watching it through half of it, but then got irritated and forced nmyself to keep watching, hoping for the miracle . Didnt happen... you will enjoy it if you like sentimental meaning of life films, but hate it if you dont like prectable scores and overdone tearjerker.

Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo
(1966)

Absolutely best, keep re-watching it over the years
Watching every scene is scripted, shot and acted makes me think of a perfect art form, where nothing can be added or subtracted. Add to this a perfect score.

Every actor, not just Clint Eastwood , is perfectly casted . When i see any of them in other films i cant think of them as anything other than what they portrayed in this one.

For example, when desert scenes are shown, i feel the dust, the sun and my lips parched, feel like dying from the thirst.

And, of course the final 3 minutes scene of the shoot-out can be deservedly called a short movie in and of itself A++++

I re watch it every few years.

Kærlighed for voksne

Interesting and unexpected plot twists with unlikable characters
As others have said, good plot with unexpected twists. Middle aged businessman with a baggage of some financial cheating falls for his young associate who demands that he chooses between her and his family. Pretty standard set-up, but what follows is far from what you expect. Murders, blackmail and dark secrets from the past . The script sometimes feels strectched, but hey, its a movie!, keeps it it interesting, makes you wonder hwat happens next!!

I think the surprise ending would be fine as it is IF the characters (or at least one of them) were a bit more likable.

Regardless, a worthwhile film to watch, keeps you guessing to the end!

Breach
(2020)

One of the WORST Bruce Willis' movies ever made
Lame imitation of the "Alien". A space ship infected by a parasite, while the plot beginning is pretty standard, it could have been developed and acted much better than it did. Bruce Willis has a perpetual expression "Huh?" Just bad and irritating. No redeeming qualities.

The Endless
(2017)

Has some good moments.
Good plot beginning, though not original, escapees years back, now go back to the cult, 2 brothers have different recollections of what it was like Has some good episodes, but not well stitched together as it could have been. Worth watching for some mysterious happenings and some suspense. Just temper your expectations.

Blame
(2021)

It's so lame it's entertaining
Plot.

Standard setting - several youngsters head into blizzard at night, crashing into abandoned school building, etc etc. Plot very predictable. Funny thing thermometer at the welcome to wisconsin info station shows 10 degrees with ominous music. OMG 10 degrees in Wisconsin soo scary. The guy at the info desk shows pretty much correct route to Wausau. Most of it is on interstate , with an hour or so on rural highway 10 between Oshkosh and Stevens Point. Having driven this route from Chicago burbs to Wausau many times I had an occasion to change a flat tire at 11 pm in winter on a rather deserted section of rural highway 10 with wind and snow. Bad cell reception, so far believable. But even at that time Many people stopped and offered help, etc.

Acting.

Wooden dialogues, irritating characters.

Goofs.

Why did the detective just grabbed the bow marked as evidence with bare hands and then just plopped it back into the snow? Already mentioned by another , DVDs don't play in drive mode. The car has DVD but no GPS mapping? They had phones also anyone heard of Google maps? School just had security system installed, but no alarms of any kids and when they break the glass in the front door?

Was kind of entertaing for the first 20 minutes, but I couldn't watch beyond that.

Watch (re-watch) original shining with Jack Nicholson instead.

The God Committee

Sentimental pseudo realistic story
As one reviewer, who is a transplant recipienet , said this is science fiction. It would be a good story if it was connected to reality of organ allocation today.

Avoid.

Stradivari
(1988)

Excellent period setting perfectly complementing music score.
The scenery the music the violins fit together perfectly. Great selection of music pieces, La Folia is perfect to begin with it makes perfect sense as having captivated young Stradivari. Soundtrack is outstanding as playing by Salvatore Accardo. Enjoyable feast for the eyes and ears, despite atrocious screenwriter production. Very disjointed storyline. I give 9 to the visual and sound and no more than 2 to the screenwriter. Sort of baroque violin music video, rather than a film.

A Rainy Day in New York
(2019)

The Art of Cinema
Very enjoyable, film with attractive cast and a witty plot that does not stop surprising you. Another classic of modern cinema. This is exceptionally well shot film about 2 young people spending a rainy day in Manhattan.

If you look for a documentary about Manhattan, or for a movie with political statements, social justice, class struggle, war drama, sci-fi, androids, aliens, etc, LOOK ELSEWHERE! This film is not for you.

To some reviewers with negative comments: yes, these youngsters dont talk like the millenials, they dont clutch their cell phones, there is hardly a computer or laptop screen in the movie. This is what makes this movie so attractive and the dialog so witty and funny. Every film is a fantasy and this one works.

Sekigahara
(2017)

A must see to get a glimpse at a recreation of the critical moment in Japanese history
Outstanding recreation a of the factions and politics of the warring factions leading to a critical battle paving way to the supremacy of Tokugawa shogunate. The film makes these historical participants come alive, interesting portrayal of Ishido Mitsunari , departing from the tradition depiction. Ishido seeks and fights for justice and sees Ieyasu as usurper. word of caution - The film is viewed much better if the the viewer gains a little background knowledge of the facts leading to the conflict (a wikipedia article will do!)

Bokeh
(2017)

It could be a commercial for Iceland Tourism bureau (if you turn off the sound)
Nothing happens, lots of Iceland scenery. A couple on vacation in Reykjavik wakes up to find that all people vanish and then... nothing happens for 2 hours. good to run in the background on big screen with sound off when doing something else...

3022
(2019)

BOOORING!!!
The concept is good and universal- small group far away from home for a long time, finding out there is no home (could be a space ship or a sail ship from Atlantis for example, in 2000 BC). Interesting twists about Acting and some space cinema scenery work OK. What make a it a bad movie is most of the screenplay and director's execution. Lots of confusing and unexplainable details, why sending small group for 10 years? Any group of 4 cooped up for that long will certainly go bonkers in any circumstance. Whats up with a space pod from ISS, if it takes 3 months to get from ISS to Pangea, why send Pangea team for 10 years?. The film is unnecessary long and frustrating to watch, a lot of unintelligible mumbling, confusing details , anachronisms and SMOKING of all things !! I tolerated watching it on the airplane, if nothing else hoping that something redeeming will happen. It didn't.
