Howling VI: The Freaks
(1991)

Best Howling sequel to date!
Years after I saw the Original Howling movie, I spend my time watching the entire series of sequels to this movie.

The second one was crap, the third one was a monster and the fourth one was one of the worst flicks I have ever seen.

So I think you can understand my surprise after seeing this fifth sequel, well... it was actually good!

The story has been told by other reviewers, so I won't do that.

The atmosphere in this one is more like a sunday afternoon movie, with not to much gore, but with sympathetic characters, and a innovative storyline, about a carnival director who in real life is a vampire.

I enjoyed everything about this movie, allthough it cannot be seen as a masterpiece or real good horror movie. Despite of that, I give it a 6 out of 10, because it's soooo much better than all the other parts in this bad, bad series.

Howling IV: The Original Nightmare
(1988)

Barf!
Djeez.....

This movie is, without a doubt, one of the WORST I have ever seen.

After watching "gems" like House V, Hide and go Schriek or Berserker, I thought it could not get any worse, but it did.

First (and most important of all) this movie is so S-L-O-W, nothing happens in the first 60-70 minutes, except for a anxious woman hearing sounds, and her husband cheating her with the local grocery ho.

And then after a long and sleepy hour, at last some werewolves appear (hello are you still awake, it took me a lot of coffee to achieve that) and then there is some action.

This movie is such a utterly waste of time and money, that I wonder what idiot invested money in this atrocious product, that person was not sober, I'm sure.

In other words, this movie is a wothless piece of junk, and I'm surprised that it doesn't rank among the 100 worst movies on this site, allthough I cannot believe there are enough crazy people who watched this miss-product.

Howling IV sure was a nightmare, in the negative sense of the word, and I warn everyone, do not spend your time or money on this one!

Hide and Go Shriek
(1988)

Crap!
Oh c'mon guys, I read reviews stating that this movie is ENJOYABLE???? This has got to be one of the worst pieces of crap in the history of horror, and the conclusion A TRANSVESTITE KILLING TEENAGERS??? Oh Lord, have mercy! No gore, S-L-O-W start and absolutely dumb characters, although I must say the actors are better than the average in this genre. I watched some bad movies in my time but this one comes damn close to the first spot, along with HOUSE 4, and BERSERKER. Enjoy it? I get more pleasure out of getting kicked in the crouch. Final. 1 out of 10.

If you like good slashers watch Intruder, The Burning, Halloween, Friday and The Prowler instead!

Les mémés cannibales
(1988)

Underestimated
Guys, guys, the only reason you give this movie a bad rap, is because you all see the rated Usa and Canada versions. Ok, ok the actors are an atrocity, and the story is zero, but the scene in which the fat guy gets eaten alive by his aunts, is great. Allthough I must admit that the scene with the child getting butchered is unacceptable. Overall, I had a smashing good time, and hopefully I ever find this piece of cult on dvd, a must see! Reminds me of the good ol' Full Moon days when they made good movies. 8 out of 10. Not for the fainthearted. One of the best Troma movies ever, together with toxi, the others are totally and utterly crap. Hopefully they will stop making movies as soon as possible.

Friday the 13th: A New Beginning
(1985)

Great movie!
I love the chit chat on this site about how good or how bad the movie in peoples opinion is. I love democracy! To be honest, despite the flaws and the thin plot, I love this movie and I must say it's my favorite part. Ok, the gore is as good as absent, but still. Compared to a lot of other slashers, released during the 80's, this on is a masterpiece. It has got a chilling atmosphere and I LOVE JULIETTE CUMMINS (the redheaded patient) I do not understand why so many of our fellow Friday fans, hate this sequel just because Jason is absent, as if it wasn't getting boring, the same indestructable killing machine movie after movie, he started to look to much like a Freddy Kreuger. At least Steinmann (lack of directing talent, and never heard of again) dares to try something new. This part is MUCH better than parts 6 to X, but isn't able to beat the original, allbeit close. I give this movie a 8 out of ten.

De gulle minnaar
(1990)

BAAAAAAAD
This film is so intens bad, that it's not even fun to watch. What a terrible story, and the acting goes beyond bad. No good example of Dutch quality cinema, try to watch The Fourth Man, Spetters (allthough the acting is also pretty messy) or De Lift.

Wildschut
(1985)

Topnotch!
Superb Dutch/Belgian production. Saw it more than 10 times, and as far as I can remember one of the best Dutch flicks ever!!! Hidde Maas is one of Holland's most underrated actors! See it if you can find it, and tell me I am looking for it!

De boezemvriend
(1982)

Bad acting, a shame for Andre!
This movie is bad, bad acting (to be honest, extreme OVERacting) and the only person who saves this piece of horses##t is Van Duin himself. The most dutch directors are pretty bad, and in this movie that is pretty noticable. It's just like the director tries to wipe away the true talent of Andre, whom I advice to go sit on the director's chair himself. I loved Andre when I was a kid, and I am still gratefull for the fun he gave me on tv during his saturdaynight shows. And he is still one of the best Dutch comedians. God bless you, Andre!
