Fear the Walking Dead
(2015)

Wasn't Bad But Could Be Better
For the first episode that was the pilot it was kinda slow, and it just introduces the cast and the dynamics between them. Nothing really astonishing but the acting was nice (not the best, but decent)and the soundtrack did a good job in creating a haunting atmosphere. The characters are typical archetypes till now but they could develop later on in something we might like, we'll see. The script is like every other zombie movie you've seen, so expecting something original in this genre will just disappoint you.

What was quite frustrating was the predictability this show is enveloped with. It does have potential but I don't think it has the potential to be as good as The Walking Dead, if you can't wait for TWD and love zombie movies you might be entertained by this and pass some nice time. Overall I'll give the first episode 6/10.

P.S. Score will be updated after more episodes.

UPDATE: Episode 2

Oh Lord!!! This is getting really terrible. All the characters are stereotypical and unlikable, there is no one that I could relate to or root for. I don't care what happens to them. The amount of clichés and illogical actions is ridiculously frustrating(bad writing is bad). The plot is progressing in an incredibly slow pace (no sense of realism or tension), combine with flat chars and you get a snore fest. Geeee I am ready to die from boredom here!!! And what the ****??? Is this acting real?

Fifty Shades of Grey
(2015)

569 Million Worldwide? WHAT THE F#@#???
The most retarded movie ever? Yea, and the most boring and atrocious also, with the worst "acting" I've seen this year(or ever). I mean even the writing for the Twilight movies in comparison to this seems like a Nobel winning prize of literature. To think that this movie made 569 million dollars worldwide making 529 million of profit, is just mind boggling. Are so many women really that emotionally bankrupt and bored that they are entertained by this? This obviously means there will be a sequel in 2017!!!WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE???

P.S. Someone needs to start a petition to ban 2017 from happening, we need to just instantly skip to 2018.

Guardians of the Galaxy
(2014)

How is this in the top250 again? Scratch that. How is this above a 6/10?
Did we all see the same movie? See the same question that everyone asks, so it becomes a cliché, exactly what this movie was. This was a cliché on top of a cliché parading on a freaking mountain of clichés.

If anyone would be kind enough to explain what makes this an 8/10 I would be happy, it wasn't even THAT entertaining if we only take into account the enjoyment factor alone. One note characters with no chemistry or interesting group dynamics, flat and boring interactions combined with a dialog filled with one liners that weren't even funny. Cartoonish villains and all too generic and familiar plot, like in any other superhero movie ever, made this sh*t as predictable as it could be. Hell even the action and the overall execution of the storyline was textbook presentation.

How did this bland, unoriginal, uncreative, uninspiring and too formulaic cash grabber managed to get in the 250 best movies ever? 8.1? 6/10 would be fairer and closer to the truth as the action might pass as entertainment. Personally for me it's a 4/10,I was actually bored by it as I expected something amazing.

Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works
(2014)

Unlimited Budget Works Is What They Call This
With this budget you can expect amazing visuals combined with good soundtrack which generates some incredible action scenes!!! And that's where it stops, I wish the action was non stop because I would honestly pay money to save myself from these characters. The characters are two dimensional at best, and the interactions are very boring and bland coupled with really flat dialog which is the 80% of the anime, which as a result leads to me trying not to fall asleep. You have a Holy Grail War setting with magic and warriors and you center it around boring kids? Archer might be just the only interesting character.

Watch this for the incredible visuals and fight scenes, nothing more.

Mad Max: Fury Road
(2015)

At Last An Action Movie With Good Action?
I wanted to see this really bad after witnessing the mountain of positive reviews and a score of 8.8 on this site, also I wanted to see if it was anything like The Road Warrior which I enjoyed immensely in my teens. So after watching this film in the theaters I have to agree with the hype, this movie is at last an action movie where you can actually freaking see what happens and where the action is kinda logical, where questions of "how and why" make sense and the moments when they don't are few and far in between.I feel like I have to make this clear, this is an action movie and should be reviewed as such(it is what it needed to be), compare this to most of the action movies that Hollywood produces each year and yes this is a masterpiece from that point of view. Although I don't know if I can agree with this being No25 movie of all times, but I can see the appeal of it.

The visuals where astonishing, not only can you almost see every detail that is important, it is also beautiful to look at. The stunts were amazing and directing from a technical point of view was really well done. The non stop action that glued you in your seat just wins the Oscar here, entertainment at its finest. The actors for the most part were good, Theron was awesome as Furiosa and the main villain Immortan Joe left a good impression on me, and the dialog was entertaining to say the least(what a lovely day indeed...). Why 8/10? Well, minus one point for some flaws here and there and for the plot which could be a tad better (although you can argue that it was good enough for an action movie), and minus one point for Tom Hardy as Mad Max. Although I don't consider him a bad actor or that he was horrible in this film, it might be just my personal bias because I liked Mel Gibson much better and I inevitably compare the 2 of them.

Overall this is an action movie that you have been dying to see, forget Transformers where you can barely see who fights who(scratch that, you can't see even that..) or Fast and Furious where a car under 1ton stops a freaking tank(yea that happened..), here you have Mad Max:Fury Road that retains the ridiculous over the top elements that its predecessor possessed combining it with non stop action that is clear and makes sense. Nothing more and nothing less.

Mad Max
(1979)

Thought this would be good after watching The Road Warrior. Well, it wasn't
Can't believe it would be such a mess and that it would leave me in a big disappointment, to be fair though I had high expectations coming into this movie after watching the sequel first(The Road Warrior). The world building was a joke at best, post apocalyptic future(not that you understand this by watching the movie) in Australia infested by motorcycle gangs? OK, "how and why" comes to mind but to hell with it, not important right? With a setting like in this movie never explored and never explained in detail, I can't really claim that things didn't make sense(although they didn't) or point out inconsistencies, because who knows....

The acting? "Laughable" is what I thought, but to each his own I guess. The plot? When the hell is it gonna start? Does it even have a plot? Well yes it does, in the last 20 minutes. The dialog? No freaking comment. I guess the only good thing was the action scenes(not a lot of them) and the last 5 minutes.

Not Perfect But One Of The Better Horror Films In Recent Years
Yea this movie had many inconsistencies and convenient situations, characters taking unrealistic actions and many things that needed explanations, but comparatively to other horror movies that were produced in recent years this film was actually creepy and kinda scary. The acting wasn't the best nor was it the worst I've seen, so I guess it worked just fine. The atmosphere was on point which was a big plus.

Overall if you can ignore the logical "flaws" you will be entertained, I surely was and it was scary for me. I certainly think this is one of the better horror movies in recent years, give this a shot if you are a horror fan.

Citizen Kane
(1941)

Rate According To Your True Feelings.
Yes, this title is a classic and we can all agree that it has been critically acclaimed by many to be a masterpiece. This movie pops up in so many lists of the greatest movies of all time that watching it at least once in your lifetime becomes a must. So I prepared myself for at the least a good movie. Is it a good movie? Well, yes and no.

See, it depends on why you are watching movies in the first place and where you derive pleasure from. For me watching movies is a way of entertainment and enjoyment, I want to have fun, I want to laugh, I want to cry, I want to think, I want to be engaged, I want to guess what is going to happen, I want characters that I can relate to and be attached to. Now all those things don't mean that I want MINDLESS fun,I do prefer intelligent plot with great characters and development but I want the movie to incorporate entertainment value as well. Citizen Kane was a character study, it was like an assignment for my university where I had to critically evaluate the title to get a good grade.

Yes, cinematography was amazing and to think it was a movie from 1941 it is just jaw dropping. Yes, the character of Kane was complex and it was a good character study. Yes, the symbolic nature of "Rosebud" and what it represents was brilliantly done, especially when we see that Kane's romantic life with his women was screwed up. But all those things are meaningless to me when I don't enjoy the movie and I am ready to die from boredom. I literally forced myself to not fall asleep, all the time I was thinking "There must be something wrong with me, this is the greatest film of all time. Get your sh*t together, wake up and pay attention. This is awesome, right?". At some points I even thought that I must be stupid for not liking this film, but if people choose to name me stupid I don't care, at least I am honest with my feelings. What matters is that I consider myself to be fairly intelligent and I didn't see the appeal of this movie unless you are watching this for critical purposes.

Now why this movie is in the top 250 and is considered a classic? That's probably because of the technical aspects of the movie and in this sense it might be a masterpiece, but I just can't see people enjoying this so much to have it so highly rated because of the entertainment factor.

Akame ga Kill!
(2014)

Don't Trust The Hype
Akame Ga Kill is an anime adaptation of the manga with the same name. Many hyped this show before its release to be the next big thing like Attack on Titan, boy was I disappointed!!! *there are no spoilers, maybe only hints so don't worry*

The story is set in a world where the government is corrupted and people in power get away with things like murder, rape, torture, theft and all the "good" stuff humanity has ever produced. A boy trained in the martial arts and sword comes to the biggest city, the Capital, with the motivation to help his poor village. On the first day he encounters a group of assassins that save him from evil people in the Capital, thus he joins them to overthrow this evil government by taking missions to kill corrupt people abusing power. Sounds good, right? Something of a dark and serious setting, right? Right. Well the problem lies in the execution. This show has a problem with it's tonal shifts, one moment you have killings and dark situations and the other fluffy and "comedic" moments that ruin all the immersion, thus making it impossible to take the show seriously or to feel anything about the deaths of some characters. Also the show has pretty much black and white morality, the bad guys are extremely evil and it seems for the purpose of just being evil, don't expect to find grey zones here like in real life(with few exceptions).

The characters are clear cut stereotypes and really one dimensional, from the good guys to the bad, with almost no exceptions at all but one char maybe. I honestly don't remember them much.

What this show does well are the fighting and action scenes, there is blood(if you like that). Animation is pretty good and soundtrack is pretty amazing. So overall you might enjoy it and kill some time.

I would advise to have low expectations though, this was the purpose of this review after all.

Fairy Tail
(2009)

Mediocre At Best.
Fairy Tail is definitely one of the most popular shounen anime and if you are thinking of watching it based on this fact alone then I encourage you to read some reviews first. What can be said about the story? Nothing really special, a girl named Lucy wants to become a wizard in a famous guild and after she meets Natsu one of its members she manages to join him and thus they form a team and start on taking missions and embark on journeys. The story progresses in arcs with each arc being connected nicely with the next one and the transition between them feels smooth and logical. The atmosphere and the nature of each arc generally remain the same lighthearted and cheerful vibe following the vibe of the anime on its whole except for some moments and scenes which need to be dark to show the contradiction between good and evil. Although the story of each individual arc can be described as cliché you could at least expect the execution to be masterful for a popular anime like this, right? No they decided to s**t all over the place with the word mediocrity, there are some glimpses of good storytelling and directing in some arcs but this is exactly what they are, glimpses.Individual elements of each arc are interesting but the story itself is unoriginal although how it's told and executed is what counts the most and this show had the potential to be great but they vomited it all out to appeal to the general public and/or their target group, if this was their purpose than they nailed it. Linear, repetitive and predictable storytelling and the use of generic guidelines as in any typical shounen of this type leave no room for the element of surprise for some rare plot twists that might exist. Generally the arcs are short and leave no room for good development and the pace of each arc is out of place. I felt that some arcs needed faster pace but others slower, go figure. Some episodes are uneventful with no action and on top of that no story or character development of any kind. Dialogues are mediocre and superficial for the most part but there are comedic moments where combined with sound and animation made me actually laugh hard. The blend of action, comedy and drama is mediocre and as I already mentioned "Oh the potential!!!!". Fairy Tail's characters is another disappointing fact. We are introduced to a large cast of characters who are one dimensional and static. Main characters are flat and underdeveloped. I understand that combined with short arcs there isn't much room left to develop so many of them but they could at least try. Every stereotype of this genre can be found in this series, from the typical hotheaded male protagonist to the evil villain who becomes good and changes sides and the fact that most of them remain the same throughout the series makes this show even more predictable. It's impossible to be caught by surprise when you expect for them to act based on their generic stereotype and they act exactly like that in any given situation. The villains of the show are equally as underdeveloped as the main characters The last disappointing fact I want to mention is the fighting scenes. Battle system is your typical "raw strength+power ups wins" concept. Almost no amount of thought or originality can be traced anywhere. Some abilities are cool but that's it. The battles are won by overpowering the enemy and no strategical thinking is involved. Superficial and annoyingly tiring dialogs and monologues which ruin the pace of the story take place in every fight scene and I mean literally in EVERY fight scene. I know that concepts like friendship and comradeship are important don't misunderstand me but not when they are in excess and feel like they try to nail it in my brain with a drill and on top of that at the expense of the story. Power levels are confusing. There are no trainings but main characters manage to win enemies they shouldn't be able to win like ever. Oh yea I forgot the power of friendship and nakamas!!! Silly me. Generally this whole thing can be summed up in 6 steps. Step 1: A strong enemy appears. MC's are beaten up by the enemy. Step 2: MC's yell about friendship and the power of nakamas. Step 3: They power up emotionally and physically by the power of friendship and random stuff. Step 4: MC's overpower the villain. Step 5: No training of any kind whatsoever. Step 6: New arc. Go to step 1. When an anime can be summed up like this than in my books this is not good at all. Animation is top notch and very consistent, facial expressions are distinct and well portrayed. As for the sound it's the most positive thing of this show. It's quite brilliant and fits well to every scene and arc of this show. Voice actors are for the most part all great. All in all fairy tail generally has a vibe of positivity and lightheartedness. If you like characters that seem cool, raw power, mc's that overpower their enemies who rely on their friends and protect each other, if you like good animation with awesome soundtracks mixed perfectly to every scene, if you liked something like D-Gray Man or Bleach than you should watch this show and I am sure you will enjoy it very much.I definitely recommend this to children as well. But if you are an experienced anime viewer or if you like intelligence, good story, plot and character development if you like insane plot twists and strategic battle scenes with complex fighting systems or if you want to watch something of this genre but don't have much time than don't waste it on this and watch something like Hunter x Hunter or Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Hunter x Hunter
(2011)

This Is My Favorite Anime And I've Seen A Lot Of Them(one piece, naruto, bleach, fairy tail).
7.6?Why so underrated? This rating doesn't do justice to this show,it needs more recognition. Lets set it right. I have seen both versions of Hunter x Hunter and I liked the 1999 version better so there will be inevitably some slight comparisons in this review to the 2011 one.

Story: Togashi Yoshihiro is a very talented mangaka who managed to create a world of great imagination where he can take you from dark realistic settings to a virtual reality cheerful world. The story progresses in arc format with each arc being connected nicely together, of course there is the main story where the protagonist a small boy named Gon embarks on a journey to search for his father a "Hunter" where lots of difficult challenges and adventures awaits him.Apart for the first few episodes the pace was really good and I never got bored but it still was 10 times better then the old version where the beginning was slow and kind of awful. In the first arc you get to know the world of HxH and it's protagonists, it may take for a while to draw you in so stick with it because it will get epic.

What sets it apart of any other anime at least of this genre if not all anime it's the disruption of a linear plot progress.Plot twists in some episodes are just insane. At some points I literally was in shock and kept thinking about what happened for many days or weeks after the episode. You will never expect for some things to happen.I found the complexity and simplicity of the story in perfect equivalence, it's simple in it's general view but individual elements can be quite complex(eg. a system of a country, fighting system, analytical thinking of an antagonist etc). In short it was an intelligent story with perfect mix of mystery, tension, comedy and action. Don't make the mistake I did when I labeled it as childish when i had seen only 10 episodes, give it a try and you will discover a mature and deep story with the psychological factor being present all over the place. Story:9/10 (I would rate it a 10 but I can't because of the weak beginning).

Art: Animation is amazing in this series, the best of the best. And as it progresses it gets even better especially in the fight scenes where the effects are awesome and enhance the experience. The bright colors is one of the major things that made me personally like 1999 version better, because dark colors used in the old one created a dark atmosphere which suited better for this anime(it felt more epic and created more tension). That doesn't mean I hate the new version though. The designs of each character are unique and suits their personalities quite well which as an effect makes them memorable (one antagonist became one of my favorite antagonist ever!!!). Art:10/10

Sound: There was only one thing I hated about the sound and that was the opening song(I always skipped it), the end song though was quite enjoyable. As for the soundtracks I can say they were epic especially in moments of tension or mystery. I didn't quite like the happy go lucky background soundtrack but that was only at the beginning, I actually appreciated it more cause it made the moments of tension feel 10 times more epic!!! Voice actors are all good except for the one of Kurapica who's voice I didn't like but I may be influenced by the old version. The voices for the 2 main protagonists are especially well picked up.Although I prefer the 99 version sound and voices better I will stay objective and rate the sound a 9. Sound:9/10

Characters:Most of my favorite characters are from this show and as you can guess characters in this show are amazing, there is no one who is underdeveloped or one dimensional. Lots of hours have been spent in developing each of them making them unique and memorable in their own skin, some will be mysterious and threatening like no other you've seen, some others intelligent and patient another might be compassionate and vulnerable. What is truly amazing though as I mentioned before is the presence of the psychological factor. Which means that no one will act always the same in different situations just to follow their stereotype as the situation changes. What I mean is that your expectations for some characters being one thing will be diminished into being the complete opposite. That's why the plot twists are amazing and logically and emotionally feel correct. Characters:10/10

Overall:Hunter x Hunter 2011 is the best anime than any other at this genre I've seen.It blends together and balances exceptionally well themes like drama, mystery, comedy and action.I enjoyed this series so much that I am actually thinking about rewatching the old version first and at some point the 2011 again. I hope you will give it a try because I honestly believe you will enjoy it very much.I recommend this series to everyone and it doesn't matter what genres you like more, just trust me and give this series a go but stick with it cause it's kinda slow at the beginning. Overall:10/10
