Landscape Artist of the Year
I was surprised last week to have agreed with the judges short list of three and its happened again.
Still no real knowledge in this area just appreciation of the art I like and what little I learn from tv programs about art.
I just thought the three short listed pieces looked great and captured the scene most effectively in their different styles.
I do really enjoy most of the locations which have large bodies of water.
Surprisingly like Stonehaven in the previous season the artists have produced some wonderful pictures despite overcast skies and flat light.
Looking forward to seeing the last two winners in the semi-final.

Landscape Artist of the Year
I often agree with some of the judges choices but I was more than a little surprised to see that my top three choices were the same as the judges and also that my top choice was the winner.
I do not think the judges should be replaced because their criteria differs from mine, they have the education and experience in this field - while I simply have my own opinions. I am pleased when are choices align though.
I was very pleased with the location for this episode, the scars in the landscape from the slate quarry and the verdant growth made for a very striking setting.
This was one of my favourite locations other than the seascapes in some of the past episodes.

Lego Masters NZ
I had higher expectations because the three teams in the final seemed to be the best builders and they included my two favourite teams of the season.
Despite being able to build whatever they wanted, I was underwhelmed by all three builds - they weren't terrible I just expected more as Lego Masters finals are usually the best builds of the season and they were not in my opinion.
In another unfortunate twist my favourite team were the winners despite having what I thought was the weakest build. Maybe it looked better in real life than on the screen.
Overall I'm pleased Lego Masters New Zealand follows the model established by Lego Masters Australia and not Lego Masters (USA). I also appreciate the inclusion of Kiwi culture.
I just expected better from the final as was delivered in the first season.
