Captain Marvel
(2019)

It's a good movie if you're not tired of Marvel movies. Don't expect it to be the best/worst and ignore the political notions surrounding it from either side
I think Captain Marvel is a good mid tier Marvel movie (not among the best but not among the worst either). You have to separate the art from the artist. While I don't like how Brie Larson is portraying herself outside the movie, I liked the Captain Marvel's character.

The story for Captain Marvel was unique because there was no final villain to defeat to solve the problem in the traditional way. It was an adventure/comedy movie with an ok twist at the end. I think it connected well with the MCU. Some things weren't as good like Carol and Maria's relationship was not done well. Talos became a bit too friendly but it kind of worked. Fury's character seems different but it doesn't seem far-fetched. He was young here so he was more fun and becomes more serious later on in his life as he becomes the director of Shield.

As far as politics, I try to judge movies without that bias. While it seems like they were pushing the agenda, did it show up that bad in the movie? I don't think so. They hardly touched on it in the movie. Carol Danvers was always a female character in the comics so it shouldn't be a problem. As for Mar-Vell, yes they gender bent him and it might have worked well if they didn't but it still worked so I don't see a problem. They also changed other aspects of the character as MCU does with all characters anyways.
