The story had all the ingredients required for making a great movie. But by pandering to political correctness it lost the plot even before the movie got started. The film is too predictable, with audience able to guess almost every next move. As part of politically correct movies, the characters are right mix of women, blacks and other minorities in important roles such as scientists, commanders etc. Which leads to question with young men and women together for such prolonged periods what can happen between them? Which is ignored here. Matt Damon is the only saving grace of the movie. The special effects are good. But other than the special effects and some desperate attempts by Matt Damon to save the movie, everything else fall flat on the face.
