New Girl
(2011)

Just awful.
Okay, first off. I like Zooey Deschanel because her personality always seemed to fit perfect in her big screen roles. Such as the Yes Man, 500 Days of Summer, and The Happening. She has proved to many people her capability to take up any role - from the happy go lucky, adventurous woman in Yes Man, to the demure, alluring, and the kind that is so hard to say no to kind of woman (whatever word fits that description) in 500 Days of Summer. Among her films, I loved 500 days of Summer so when I heard that she has a new show coming up (not a movie but a TV series this time), I was taunted. Curious, is more like it. I wanted to see what she was up to this time. So I saw the first episode with my brother, and from the very beginning when she was seducing her boyfriend, I felt awful. Not because her boyfriend cheated on her, but because this thing is obviously beyond Zooey's niche. Comedy is obviously not for her, maybe Music, but definitely not this. Apart from Zooey's character, I think Schmidt delivered the funniest lines, but that is not to say that they were the newest and freshest ones I've seen & heard. If you want to have a great laugh, I wouldn't recommend this one. It just felt bad on so many levels. Now will I waste my time on another episode? Hell to the frigging no. Maybe in a different life when Zooey's ripped off the show and replaced for good.

It deserves 2/10. The one star goes to Schmidt. The other.. well, the music at the beginning for being catchy. Other than that, its all a waste of tape.

Something Borrowed
(2011)

Good, but I've seen better.
I have been a fan of romantic comedies ever since I could remember. I just love the feeling that I get when I see happy endings not only in movies but also in real life. So when this movie came out, I immediately grabbed my friend to watch this because I couldn't hold my curiosity any longer. Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, John Krasinski, and a Tom Cruise look alike that is Colin Egglesfield, very intimidating cast, yes? This is a very light romantic comedy, definitely not the most original one too cos its very predictable and like I said, very light. I love John Kransinski for the most part because he's the character that's in between everyone else, retaining the balance of the movie. I just find his sarcasm very charming, especially towards Darcy, although I'm not sure what started this sort of "feud" between the two (haven't read the book). What I don't get though is how Darcy doesn't notice this thing between Rachel and Dex, until towards the end of the movie. Anyway, I still think the movie is lovely and a must watch for those of you out there who are hopelessly romantic! Its such a feel good movie that will leave you with one thing on your face. A smile! :) Happy viewing!
