Joselito vagabundo

Hilarious and fun Mexican/Spanish co-production starred by a teen Joselito singing a great number of songs
Hilarious and fun Mexican/Spanish co-production starred by a teen Joselito singing a great number of songs

Sentimental and amusing Joselito movie in which he is disguised as a wealthy heir . René (Joselito) is a naughty and rogue boy . The street orphan René lives in San Juán , Puerto Rico , he works as a swindler for a nasty crook nicknamed Johnny el 'men' (Ángel Álvarez) . Then , he is threatened by the boss of the gang of stealers and Joselito escapes . Later on , a rich heir meets him and he proposes to change his life by posing as the wealthy heir to see his stranged aunt Doña Guadalupe (Sara Garcia) who lives in Mexico D.F. and she has a big fortune that two mean people attempt to take it .

This is a sensitive story proceeded in simplicity , delicacy and humor by Miguel Morayta and photographed by Manuel Merino . Here Joselito , who has a great success due to his magnificent voice , is well supported by a good plethora of Mexican secondaries as Angel Alvarez , Blanca Sánchez , Fernando Luján , Marichal , Chaves , David Reynoso , Agosti , and the prodigy child Cesáreo Quezadas 'Pulgarcito' , among others . And special mention for the legendary "granny of Mexican cinema" , Sara Garcia ; as her early experiences in movies lead her to a career in stage. She only made one film between 1918 and 1933. She returned to the screen in Vuelo de la muerte, El (1933) and began a very long career of 148 films. Almost from the beginning, Sara García specialized in portraying mothers and grandmas, then her nickname. This specialization began when she dared to remove her entire teeth to get the role of a granny in Allá en en trópico (1940). After that tremendous tour-de-force her entire career, with very few exceptions, was devoted to this kind of roles. She co-starred with almost the entire cast of Mexican movie stars from the 30s to the 70s .This is a typical children/teenager film on the pretext that Joselito sings a lot of songs . In fact , Joselito was introduced to the movie business in 1956 by filmmaker Antonio Del Amo , who directed him in the popular ¨Nightingale trilogy¨: El pequeño Ruiseñor , Saeta del Ruiseñor and Ruiseñor de las cumbres . His first feature was El Pequeño Ruiseñor (1957) ("The Little Nightingale"), where he earned his famous nickname . That's why he sings like the nightingales . In his films Joselito is usually a singer boy who carries out antics , childish pranks , mischiefs and naughtiness . Joselito met actor , singer/actor Luis Mariano at a recital , and he convinced him to play together in French TV and Radio shows . He was widely known in Spain when he became a widely successful child star , following to ¨El Ruiseñor De Las Cumbres¨ , ¨Saeta Del Ruiseñor¨ and ¨El Pequeño Coronel¨. The main role "Joselito" is played by himself in a phenomenal manner , can be said that he is perfectly adequate to his measure . He was a milestone in Spanish "child prodigies" under Franco along with Marisol , Pili and Mili and especially Pablito Calvo who starred the hits ¨The Bait¨ , ¨Mi Tio Jacinto¨ and ¨Marcelino Bread and Wine¨ . And the producers trying to keep them as little kids for as long as possible . Due to false advertising by the studios that made their movies, and which wanted to make him appear younger than they really were , an obsession that haunted them through the whole of their careers.

¨Joselito vagabundo¨ or ¨El falso heredero¨ is a joyful as well as fun Mexican/Spanish musical/melodrama movie , professionally realized by Miguel Morayta . This an enjoyable and feeling movie full of mirth ,entertainment , amusement , humor touches , agreeable message and in final takes places the ordinary happy end . Here Joselito sings Rancheras and and dressed in Mariachi style , and even he falls in love . Along the way the movie develops a brief remarks on Mexican habits . The scenarios in which develops the deeds are adeqaute and well designed . Rubén Fuentes and Luis Hernández Bretón's musical score respond appropriately to the ambient , originating a careful atmosphere . Luminous cinematography by Manuel Merino , though a perfect remastering is necessary and filmed in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico .

Of course , Joselito steals the show as the singer boy. Spanish film studios were looking for a new child star to follow the steps of Pablito Calvo, and make popular and populist folkloric movies and they found Joselito . After the international success of El Pequeño Ruiseñor , and following successful films such as ¨La Saeta Del Ruiseñor¨ , ¨Bello Recuerdo¨ , ¨Los Dos Golfillos¨, which were big box-office hits in Spain during Franco's dictatorship he became Spain's most famous child actor , outstanding his highly expressive face and eyes , enormous eyes and innocent, angelical face .. Getting successes all around the world , France , South America and even Japan . His pictures touched the hearts of numerous spectators by the time .His hits expanded all over the world , even Pier Paolo Pasolini included one song in his prestigious film ¨Mamma Roma¨(1962) with Anna Magnani . In his films he often sings Flamenco Cante , Saetas , Soleadas and other Folkloric songs . After several movies and records, and already a big star as a singer and an actor in Europe, the next move was trying to triumph in America, so Joselito went to Mexico where he filmed various projects, starting by ¨El Caballo Blanco¨ , ¨Aventuras de Joselito en América¨ (1960), which paired him with Mexican child star 'Cesáreo Quezadas Pulgarcito to grant local box-office . His success even reached around the world , in fact he was discovered as a singer by Luis Mariano, who got him to perform in France, pretending he was 9 at the moment of his debut, when he actually was 13 . However, life was not too glamorous for Joselito, as he was treated almost as a sideshow act by his managers, not allowing him to become an ordinary teenager , and even locking him in his room between rehearsals so he couldn't meet girls . He was forced to keep his childlike image up to 1969 (when he was in his mid-twenties) in ¨Loca Juventud¨ , ¨Falso Heredero¨ and when he appeared in his last film , ¨Prisionero En La Ciudad¨ (1969). But, as his voice had long broken, he was not successful anymore . Retired from acting at early age to become a drifter , even working as a mercenary . Disappearing from public life until it was discovered much later that he had become a heroin addict and even worked as a mercenary in Africa . An attempt of a comeback as an adult proved unsuccessful, as the tastes of the audience had changed, and his voice didn't resemble the one he had as a kid, so Joselito definitely retired from show business to his home in Utiel (Valencia), where he, now clean and sober, lives a quiet life far from movie and recording studios. Nowadays , he has reappeared doing brief TV interventions and cinema such as ¨Torrente¨ and ¨Spanish movie¨ .

The filmmaker Miguel Morayta as well as the famous producer Cesáreo Gonzalez from his production Company : Suevia Films got a big hit in this picture , obtaining a great achievement in South America , managing perfectly to the performers and taking advantage of them , giving the best of his acting . Morayta was a good Mexican craftsman . A prolific director who made a lot of movies , such as : Laberinto de pasiones , El sonambulo , Hermanos de sangre , Capulina contra los monstruos , Juan el desalmado , Las tres magnificas , Princesa y vagabunda , Dos gemelas estupendas , La guerrillera de Villa , Desnudarse y morir , Los tres mosqueteros de Dios , Juan Guerrero , Doctor Satán , El falso heredero , Los reyes del volante , ¡Ay, Jalisco no te rajes! , El vampiro sangriento and many others . Rating : Acceptable and passable for its worthwhile mingle of music , comedy , sentimentalism and good feeling .

He also directed Epic films as ¨The Barbarians¨ and ¨The 300 Spartans¨ . The films themselves were for the most part undistinguished, with his best work probably being the film-noir classic ¨DOA¨ (1950). ¨Rating : Passable and acceptable , 6 . Well worth watching .

The Charge at Feather River

Thrilling Western originally released in 3-D with ordinary hail of arrows , Tomahawks and lances
A decent and personable Western set in Colorado territory, better than you might expect , including the usual hail of arrows to the right of you and spears to he left to you , all of them hurled at the audience and here more inventively augmented by some spectacular Indian charges at Feather River . An ordinary Cavalry Western in which an officer is saddled with the risked assignment of rescue and steer a platoon through hostile Indian territory . Dealing with an exciting story involving Miles Archer (Guy Madison) along with sergeant Baker (Frank Lovejoy) and a group of soldiers (Dick Wesson , Onslow Stevens , Steve Brodie , Ron Hagerthy , Neville Brand , among others) are asked by the cavalry Major at Fort Bellows to aid in rescuing to two white women (both , Helen Westcott and Vera Miles prove more than mere objects in the tale) captured by the Cheyenne . They are rescued 5 years later , one by force (Vera Miles who has turned renegade and is not anxious to be rescued) due to about to marry a chief Thunder Hawk .

The film packs thrills , fights , noisy action , crossfire , Indian charges , and being enough entertaining . It's a medium budget film with comfortable actors , technicians , functional production values and pleasing results. It is a pretty fine picture that could become another western worthy of any anthology . Moving and action-packed Western with a simple , standard story that engages the viewer until the last scene when cavalry comes to the rescue in the nick of time by a stream called Feather River , dealing with an overland journey through hostile Cheyenne territory carried out by a squadron of Privates to rescue and escort two sisters kidnapped by Indians long time ago . Meanwhile , soldiers getting off shots into the surprising spectators as well as knives, arrows, lances and tomahawks all come flying at the audience . Screenline serves mainly as an excuse for non-stop Indian attacks . This was the first 3-D Western and one of the first CinemaScope movie of any kind from Warner Brothers , a studio very committed to the 3D process , and not forgetting the Panoramic shots that showed the new process off to its best effect , using Zeiss anamorphic lenses . Decent and pleasant traditional Western with professional direction and flawlessly acted by Guy Madison as Miles Archer and Frank Lovejoy as Sgt. Baker , both of whom make fortright leads . Guy Madison was one of the most popular Western stars at the time who performed this first 3D Western : ¨The charge of Feather River¨ along with ¨The command¨. Guy played leads in a series of programmers before being cast as legendary lawman Wild Bill Hickok in the TV series Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok (1951). Madison had his first major role in "Until the End of Time" a drama directed by Edward Dmytryk, 1946 to then changed in action roles , mainly series B westerns , get some successes with the series . He played Hickok on TV and radio for much of the 1950s, and many of the TV episodes were strung together and released as feature films. Madison managed to squeeze in some more adult-oriented roles during his off-time from the series, but much of this work was also in westerns. After the Hickok series ended Madison found work scarce in the U.S. and traveled to Europe, where he became a popular star of Italian westerns and German adventure films , such as : ¨Duel at Rio Bravo¨ , ¨7 Winchester for a massacre¨ , ¨Bang bang Kid¨, ¨Five for revenge¨ , ¨Il figlio di Django¨ and ¨Reverend Colt¨ . Support cast is pretty well, full of gritty acting and giving splendidly fortright performances , notably from Frank Lovejoy who discourages a rattlesnake with tobacco , Onslow Stevens , James Brown , Dub Taylor , Ron Hagerthy , Steve Brodie , Ben Corbett , Lane Chandler and Dick Wesson who provides gritty humor , he is a nice comedian who should gone further in movies .

Beautifully and wonderfully filmed by cameraman Perveret Marley . Being filmed on location in Santa Clarita , Santa Ana River, Norco, Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park , Escondido Canyon Rd., Agua Dulce, California,California . It contains a stirring and adequate musical score by the classic composer Max Steiner . Max 's soundtrack skilfully underscores some the greatest action scenes ever filmed . Actually made with great drive by Hollywood craftsman Gordon Douglas , even though the script is ordinary and ¨deja vu¨ . Douglas directs some of the best action scenes he ever shot . The motion picture was professionally directed by Gordon Douglas , at his best . Gordon directed nearly 100 features and shorts, including five features alone that were released in 1950, and four more in 1951. He was eventually hired by Hal Roach as a gag writer . His first directorial assignments were for Roach's "Our Gang" series . Graduating to features, Douglas stayed with comedies, directing Stan Lauren and Oliver Hardy . Douglas left Roach for RKO, for which he directed about a dozen films from 1942 to 1947, mostly routine programmers. He then went to Columbia for several years, but in 1950 he headed over to Warner Brothers, where he would stay for the next 15 years and where he would find his greatest successes . His westerns and crime dramas for Warners met with critical and financial success, and it was during this period that he made what is considered one of the classic sci-fi films of the era : Them (1954). Often used counter diving angles with camera, for instance when cars or wagons roll. He was an expert on adventures cinema as ¨Black arrow¨ , ¨Fortunes of Captain Blood¨ , both starred by Louis Hayward and Western , as he proved in the films starred by Clint Walker such as : ¨Fort Dobbs¨, ¨Yellowstone Kelly¨ , ¨Gold of seven Saints¨ , Gregory Peck as ¨Only the valiant¨ in similar plot to ¨Chuka¨ , Richard Boone as ¨Rio Conchos¨ considered the best , and on bandits legendary as ¨Doolins of Oklahoma¨ , ¨Great Missouri raid¨, among others. Rating : 6.5/10 .

Frank & Jesse

This is an acceptable look at the known story of the West's greatest bandits being relentlessly pursued by Pinkerton Agency
An unsentimental and violent Western emphasising mythical conventions , starred by a good cast as the members of the band . Revisionist and contemporary study about famous outlaws : Jesse , Frank James and Younger brothers .This is a slight and plain biopic about Jesse/Frank James who ranks with Billy the Kid as the most famous of Western outlaws . Then Pinkerton detectives were hired by the railroad company to hunt down Jesse and Frank . Legend and folklore have cast him as a Robin Hood , a good boy forced by circumstances to follow a criminal life . ¨Frank and Jesse¨ (1995) by Robert Boris with fine casting as Rob Lowe , Bill Paxton , Randy Travis , Dana Wheeler-Nicholson , Maria Pitillo , Luke Askew and Sean Patrick Flanery . Yet another recounting of the infamous James (Jesse: Rob Lowe , producer too , and Frank: Bill Pullman , this performance fraternity acquits itself well ) , who the public regarded them as heroes , from Missouri to Minnesota . It is set at the end of the Civil War, Frank and Jesse James and other former guerillas who rode with Quantrill and Bill Anderson take the oath of allegiance to the Union. Feeling oppressed by Chicago railroad investors, the James and Younger brothers : Cole and Bob Younger , Bob and Charlie Ford, Clell Miller and Arch Clements take to robbing Banks , trains , ambushes , and stagecoaches attacks , including the fateful Northfield raid with Alain Pinkerton (William Atherton) sworn to bringing them to justice . This one deals with origins , exploits and the ultimate fate of the Jesse James gang is told in an enticing portrayal of the bank robbers made up of brothers who begin their legendary bank raids because of vendetta ; these are the following ones : the James , Frank (Bill Pullman) and Jesse (Rob Lowe) , Cole Younger (Randy Travis ) , Bob Younger (Todd Field) , ,Clell Miller (John Pyper-Ferguson) and Arch Clements (Nicholas Sadler) . Later on , the agents surrounded the home , believing they to be there , tossed a bomb and the explosion killed Jesse's relatives . It is believed that Jesse took part in his first robbery in 1866 when a dozen men held up the bank in Liberty , Missouri . A bank cashier was killed in the raid and a reward was offered for each of the James brothers . In 1873 Jesse and his band derailed and robbed a train on the Rock Island line . Jesse married his cousin Zerelda (Maria Pitillo) , who bore him two children . As soon as railroad agents kill their father and hurt their mother , Jesse James and Frank take up robbing banks and trains and seek revenge . Then , the Pinkerton Agency is engaged to bring the James-Younger gang in . At the end James is betrayed by the treacherous Ford brothers : Charlie Ford and Bob Ford . As Jesse retires his erstwhile friend Robert Ford shoots him in the back to get the reward . On 3 April 1882 Bob Ford , a new member of the gang , treacherously shot Jesse dead in back of the head in his home at St Joseph , Missouri . Bad Is Good Again. This Much Fun Can't Be Legal! Sometimes the wrong side of the law is the right place to be .The civil war made them outlaws. The people made them heroes

This is a laconic , deliberate , agreeable but slowly paced Western movie . There is a concentration on familiar rituals as the funeral , family reunion and band relationships ; but also on common Western rituals as train assaults , shootous , go riding and the spectacular robbing . It displays decent actors giving enjoyable acting , attempting not to make heroes of the boys , with a casting of known actors . The studio bought the rights to the James Brothers but changed some facts for psychological and family motivations , instead serving up a potted commentary on the conventions of the genre itself . The trump card here is the train assaults , shot in moving style and violently realized. It boasts a nice protagonist duo : Rob Lowe and Bill Paxton . And a top-notch support cast , such as : Randy Travis , Dana Wheeler-Nicholson , Maria Pitillo , Luke Askew , Sean Patrick Flanery , Alexis Arquette , Todd Field , John Pyper-Ferguson , Nicholas Sadler , among others . It packs an atmospheric and evocative cinematography by Walt Lloyd . And an attractive soundtrack by Mark McKenzie , fits magnificently to the flick . The motion picture was professional but deliberately directed by Robert Boris in average budget . Here Boris focuses on the subjects of brotherhood , kinship , friendship and about the territories taken wrongly by railway ; refusing to bother too much about historic events .

This James/ Frank retelling has been adapted several times , ¨Frank and Jesse¨ has a distinguished company of movies , each version gutsier and bloodier than the last , such as : 1939 recounting ¨Jesse James¨ by Henry King with Tyrone Power , Henry Fonda , John Carradine , Brian Donlevy , Donald Meek ; ¨The return of Frank James¨ (1940) by Fritz Lang with Henry Fonda , Gene Tierney , Jackie Cooper , Henry Hull , John Carradine , J. Edward Bromberg . Critics argued the best movie that had been made about the Younger-James brothers prior to this was ¨The return of Frank James (1940) , "in the historical sense it was also the least accurate, but it had a real sense of character truth". ¨I shot Jesse James¨(1949) by Samuel Fuller with Preston Foster , Barbara Britton , John Ireland , J. Edward Bromberg ; ¨The true story of Jesse James¨ by Nicholas Ray with Robert Wagner , Jeffrey Hunter , Hope Lange , Agnes Moorehead , Alan Hale Jr , Alan Baxter , John Carradine . ¨The long riders¨(1980) by Walter Hill ,the film stars four sets of actual brothers: the Carradines, the Keachs, the Quaids and the Guests with Dennis Quaid , Randy Quaid , James Keach , Stacy Keach , David Carradine , Robert Carradine , Ever Carradine , Christopher Guest , Nicholas Guest . And has been portrayed most recently in ¨American Outlaws¨ (2001) by Les Mayfield with Colin Farrell , Ali Larter , Gabriel Macht , Terry O'Quinn and ¨The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford¨ (2007) with Brad Pitt , Casey Affleck , Sam Shepard .

The Glimmer Man

Our solid heroes , Seagal and Wayans , face off a vicious L.A. serial killer who begins dispatching whole Catholic families
A thrilling Seagal entry in enough budget and the kind of movie he was making at the beginning of the decade. Here N.Y detective Jack Cole (Steven Seagal) wearing Nehru jackets and prayer beads is teamed with L.A. Police Det. Jim Campbell (Keenen Ivory Wayans) , but they are a little different . Seagal results to be an ex-CIA operative who has been convinced by a Buddhist monk to stop murdering enemies and along the way pursues a California serial killer called ¨The Family Man¨. As they investigate a series of ritualist crimes in which the victims are crucified against the walls of their houses . While Cole uses his special band of non-violence by slashing , chopping and impaling his way . Later on , they are aware the fact the Russian mafia has something to do with it all . After Cole's spouse is murdered , he is implicated and then somehow the mafia and Cia are blended into the mix .

The film displays several gunshots , struggles , bloody killing and lots of violence when the fights and killing happen . It's exciting and tense, at time passable action movie , but the fighting and gun-play are well done is this routine actioner ; in addition , introducing something new into the mix , self-mockery . Slick action movie from Seagal in which , both gained weight and lightened up , as he enjoys really and heads crack and bones rattle . Here Seagal stiffer and more humourless than ever but he finally wipes out enemies , while he cleanses his mind with Tibetan prayer beads . Despite the strained at buddy-buddy humor beween N.Y. Inspector Steven and the local homicide detective Wayans as mismatched colleagues , both of them play an attractive couple as two tough law enforcers . Wayans , clearly a better actor than this material suffers notably in action scenes and he plays a street-wise , fast-talking detective who cries over old movies as Casablanca. Our protagonists are accompanied by a good support cast , such as : an over-ripe Bob Gunton , John M. Jackson , Michelle Johnson , Stephen Tobolowsky , Ryan Cutrona , Richard Gant , Nikky Cox , Johnny Strong , Alex Panevega , Peter Jason , Wendy Robie , and Brian Cox who confirms his status as a great secondary of the 90s , among others .

The picture belongs to best period in Seagal hits including acceptable films as Hard to kill, Marked to death , Out of justice , Under siege , Undersiege : Dark territory , On deadly ground , Executive decision , Fire down below , The patriot . Following the last period of Seagal career, when he's doing middling and low budget films, lackluster , directly to video and many are deemed semi-turkeys stinkers , such as : The foreigner , Ticker , Half past dead and many others . Following the tendency to oriental action cinema, Seagal-also producer- hired Asian directors as Mink (Into the sun) , Leong (Out the reach),and Siu Tung Ching. These movies aren't on the level previous successful and big budget movies, such as Under siege I,II, Glimmer man, Exit wounds, Fire down below, Executive decision , among them. The film is produced by Julius Nasso , Michael Rachmil and Steven Seagal himself and his production called Seagal/Nasso Productions. Being professionally directed by John Gray , though it has some flaws and gaps . He was the youngest recipient ever of an American Film Institute Independant Filmmaker Grant . He is a writer, director and producer, known for Reckless (2014) White Irish Drinkers (2010),Born to Be Wild , Ghost Whisperer (2005), Haven , The Hunley (1999) Martin and Lewis, and Helter Skelter. The story is occasionally entertaining but only for the Steven Seagal fans. A decent Seagal action piece won't convert die-hard detractors and aficionados will not disappoint . A predictable movie when it is no being unbelievable .

Nice Spaghetti Western shot in Almeria, Spain, with adequate performance and and acceptable direction
Passable Spaghetti Western about a pistolero, Brian Kelly, who escapes from prison by pretending to have leprosy. He is called Stark, Brian Kelly, a notorious gunfighter who seeks peace, justice and vengeance, too. Later on, he is detained and about to death from hanging, then he is saved by a powerful Spanish landowner, Folco Lulli, who offers him a reward to find and return his son Fidel, Fabricio Moroni . Shortly after, Chad Stark finds Fidel who is joined up a hazarous gang led by The Major, Keenan Wynn, Stark's previous colleague at army.

Decent Western with thrills, noisy action, go riding, twists and shootouts , following Spaghetti ordinary trademarks . It deals with an escaped convict who carries out a perilous mission, as he agrees to bring a rebel son of a wealthy land-owner. Brian Kelly gives an acceptable action as the gunfighter hero . Special mention for the notorious American secondary Keenan Wynn as the duck-loving, sympathetic Major and boss of a nasty gang of bandits. And a plethora of usual Italian secondaries as Folco Lulli , Rik Battaglia , Ferdinando Poggi , Krista Nell , Roberto , Emilio Messina, Pasquale Basile , Andronico , Jimmy el Fenomeno , Fortunato Arena , Jose Riesgo , Andronico and many others. Atmospheric and evocative cinematography from Carl Chan and Fausto Zuccoli , though a perfect remasterizing is necessary . Enjoyable Spag musical score by Santa Maria Romitelli , adding wonderful songs .

The motion picture was professionally written by Mario Amendola and directed by Bruno Corbucci who was brother of Sergio Corbucci, the latter made a lot of prestigious Spaghetti Westerns. Bruno directed various vehicles for notorious comical actors as Franco Franchi, Ciccio Ingrassia, Bud Spencer, Tomas Milian. As he wrote and directed a great number of films. As Bruno wrote/directed several Bud Spencer vehicles as ¨Bulldozer¨, ¨Aladino¨, ¨The Supersheriff¨, and ¨The sheriff and the extraterrestrial little boy¨ and directed him in ¨Mister Charleston¨. And Corbucci wrote and directed various Terence Hill-Spencer films as ¨Banana Joe¨ , ¨Miami Supercops¨ , ¨Par-Impar¨ , ¨Cat and Dog¨ and ¨Aladdin¨ . If you love the Spaghetti movies, go for it, and if you've never seen one this is an acceptable start ; but only for Spaghetti Western fans .This is an average entertaining juvenile that will appeal to Italian Western buffs .

Thought-provoking portrayal of Antonieta Rivas Mercado during the violent and overlong Mexican revolution
Biographic story of her life was set to shoot in this film , Antonieta , by Spanish director Carlos Saura . The interesting story of Antonieta Rivas Mercado (Isabelle Adjani ) is set during one of the bloodiest eras of Mexican history , being narrated under a peculiar sight point , as a psychologist called Anna (Hanna Schygulla ) investigates deeply her history and comes to Mexico to learn more about her and the Mexican fascination with death.

Antonia Rivas Mercado's biography is told by a modern French psychologist who is really intrigued about her troblesome life . The film packs some very engaging archival footage of the Mexican Revolution , and essential participation by the revolutionary women named ¨Adelitas¨ . Including important details , such as : the North uprising against Porfirio Diaz led by Orozco and by Emiliano Zapata in South Mexico . Later on , Madero's government , being murdered by General Huertas , and Carranza's upheaval against Huertas with Pancho Villa in North Mexico and Emiliano Zapata in South Mexico . And in 1928 President Obregón was assassinated in Guanajuato . Main cast formed by two great European actresses : Isabelle Adjani and Hanna Schygulla give decent performances . Supported by a good and mostly Mexican secondary cast , such as : Carlos Bracho as Vasconcelos , Gonzalo Vega , Victor Junco , Diana Bracho , Héctor Alterio , uncredited Diego Luna and Ignacio López Tarso . Evocative musical score by José Antonio Zavala , includind South American sounds and the popular ¨Corridas¨ , along with songs titled La llorona , Himno a Cristo Rey , La cucaracha , La Adelita , El limoncito and La Valentina . Atmospheric cinematography by Teo Escamilla , Saura's regular . The motion picture was profesional , though slowly directed by Carlos Saura .

Adding more remarks about Antonieta life : Antonieta's father designed the Independence Monument, always known as El Ángel, and she is generally believed to have modeled for the angel which fell during the earthquake of 1957. She inherited a fortune when her father died in 1925. She was briefly married and had a son who later married an American woman who published a biography of Antonieta, Under the Shadow of the Angel. Rivas Mercado was born as the second of four children of the notable architect Antonio Rivas Mercado .Around 1910, during the Mexican revolution, her parents separated, and her mother moved together with Antonieta's older sister Alice to Paris, where they stayed until their return to Mexico in 1915 .Antonio Rivas Mercado refused to let his wife move back into the family's house, as a result of which Antonieta had to assume more responsibility at home. With her father's permission, at the age of 18, she married British-born, American-raised engineer Albert Edward Blair, and gave birth to their son Donald Antonio (Tonito) . During the time the young family lived in a ranch in the state of Durango, there were periods when Antonieta Rivas sought separation from Blair, but he did not consent, as a result of which she was sometimes depressed .She eventually moved to Mexico City and tried to file for divorce, and to obtain support for her son. In 1927, her father died, and Antonieta became responsible for the care of her parents' house and her siblings. She financed and promoted cultural projects of considerable relevance ; for example, she financed and became principally involved in the foundation of the Teatro Ulises, that broke with commercial theater in the Mexico of the time. Thanks to her encouragement, literary lounges were formed, and the Orquesta Sinfónica of Mexico City was formed. It was said that knowing Antonieta Rivas Mercado helped open the cultural doors in Mexico .Rivas Mercado wrote for the magazine Los Contemporáneos and the Spanish periodical El Sol. She fell hopelessly in love with her friend, the painter Manuel Rodríguez Lozano, an affection that was not reciprocated. In 1929, she had an affair with the politician José Vasconcelos, and later supported his electoral campaign. However, this love affair also proved to be fruitless, since Vasconcelos was married. In 1931, Antonieta followed Vasconcelos to Paris and, when rejected, shot herself at the altar of Notre Dame de Paris . In 1928 President Obregón was assassinated in Guanajuato. A popular former education minister, José Vasconcellos, launched a campaign for the presidency. Antonieta used her money to support the campaign and became his lover. Vasconcellos lost the election and went into Parisian exile and in1931 Antonieta followed him. She asked Vasconcelos if he needed her and, when he said he did not, used his gun to commit suicide in the Cathedral of Notre Dame.

The Cove

Provoking and shocking documentary about activists againt the cruel massacre of dolphin in Japan
Gorgeous , thrilling and pulse-pounding documentary with strong ecological denounce against Dolphin slaughter , fish food full of mercury due to its high concentration that results to be a serious threat to human health , the Japanese government's methodical buying off of poorer third world nations for their support of Japan's whaling industry and others thorny issues . A great documentary that Won 1 Oscar and another 38 wins & 17 nominations . In Taiji, a location with 3,500 residents. And at a hidden , glistening cove, surrounded by barbed wire and "Keep Out" signs, lies a terrifying and dark reality . Man is their bigger threat when being underhanded market for mercury-tainted dolphin meat and at the same time Man is their only hope .

This thought-provoking film is itself a act of heroism , well produced by actor Fisher Stevens , it stars Richard O'Barry who gives a peculiar view point of cetaceans in captivity and while a very profesional team playing a cloak-and-dagger game with those who would have them imprisoned . And exposing the ruthless practice, risking life and health in the process . Since that time, he has become one of the leading advocates against cetaceans incarcerated in small tanks , pools , ponds and reservoir and for the preservation of cetaceans in the wild. Richard O'Barry was the man who captured and trained the dolphins for the television show ¨Flipper¨ (1964) , though he also trained sea animals as sharks in films as ¨Beyond the Bermuda Triangle¨ , ¨Island Claws¨, and ¨The jaws of death¨ also titled ¨Mako sharks¨ . His sight point about sea animals changed from that experience when as the last straw he saw that one of the dolphins playing Flipper - her name being Kathy - basically committed suicide itself in his arms because of the stress of being in captivity . Richard joins forces with filmmaker Louie Psihoyos and the Ocean Preservation Society to carry out this surprising and interesting documentary . As filmmaker 'Louie Psihoyos ' go about attempting to expose one of what they see as the most brutal acts against wild dolphins in the world in Taiji, Japan, where dolphins are routinely corralled, either to be sold alive to aquariums and marine parks, or slaughtered for meat. O'Barry and Psihoyos are well known as enemies by the authorities in Taiji, the watcher cops who spy and chase and they will use whatever tactic to expel the two from Japan forever . O'Barry, Psihoyos and their team covertly attempt to photograph as a document of engaging proof this cruel behavior. The primary secluded cove where this activity is taking place is heavily guarded . It is here, under cover , masked , discreetely at night, hidden from the fishermen of Taiji, , engage in an unseen hunt to film conclusive evidendeces . The nature of what they do is so chilling -- and the consequences are so dangerous to human health -- they will go to great lengths to halt anyone from seeing it. With a state-of-the-art equipment they go undercover to film the hair-raising , horrifying images about Mular dolphin massacre . They employ among others Hollywood cameramen from George Lucas' ¨Industrial , Light and Magic¨ and deep sea free divers . As ILM technicians created special camouflaged, rock-like, cameras that helped capture some of the footage in the cove . Along the way they are pursued by the Japanese Police and mistreated by fishermen . As an expert team of marine explorers , water-sound and cameramen , special effects artists, , adrenaline junkies and world-class free divers who will carry out an undercover operation to shoot the off-limits cove .They also highlight what is deemed the perilous consumption of dolphin meat which is often sold not as dolphin meat and driven by a multi-billion dollar dolphin entertainment industry and considering the important support most specifically at the International Whaling Commission.

Something Big

Fun and bemusing Western filled with action-packed , pursuits , go riding and crossfire
Agreeable but average slice of the Wild West , it deals with two bandoleros who run into trouble with their cavalry counterparts . Dean Martin wants to do 'something big . When he needs a Gatling gun to accomplish this, he seeks out a black marketeer (Albert Salmi) . The price he wants for the gun? A woman! . So Baker (Dean Martin) along with his colleague (Don Knight) abduct a woman (Honor Blackman) off of the stagecoach, only to find that she is the spouse of the commandant (Brian Keith) of the local Cavalry detachment .Things get further complicated when a girl named Dover McBride (Carol White) goes West as he promised to do four years earlier. Sooner or later, Baker will find the right girl. And when he does, he'll swap her for a machine gun. And do something big.Everybody wants to do something big once in his life. It's just that most people don't have to hold up a stagecoach, steal a girl, and swap her for a gun to do it.Baker has the biggest, fastest, gun in the West. See him use it on anything that moves!

A spirited spoof Western with noisy action , shootouts , Indian attacks and humor . The plot is plain and simple , a likeable rogue Bandido kidnaps the wife of a cavalry commander in order to exchange her for a Gatling gun that's being sold by a gun runner . This swinging Western contains some inspired patches of dialogue provided by Western expert writer James Lee Barrett . A gruesome symptom of the death of Western was the ¨Comedy Western¨ sub-genre , a confused , ironical , messy trendy that flourished briefly in the late 60s and early 70s . Occassionaly this sub-genre produced the odd bizarre gem , notably ¨Cat Ballou¨ by Elliott Silversein , ¨Alelujah¨ by John Sturges , ¨There was a crooked man¨ by Joseph L. Mankiewicz , ¨Texas across the river¨ by Michael Gordon , ¨The Good Guys and the Bad Guys¨ by Burt Kennedy , but this was one of the less honorable efforts . Here Dean Martin plays an outlaw in town to give his retiring adversary , Cavalry Colonel Brian Keith , a last , leadenly ironic run for his money . Dean Martin's lazy charm makes him a sympathetic rogue . Martin starred various film for the famous ¨Rat Pack¨, but he also performed various Westerns , such as : Showdown , Five card stud , Bandolero , Round night in Jericho , Texas across the river , Sons of Katie Elder , 4 for Texas and the best : Rio Bravo . There's even room for two English actresses such as the then-trendy starlet Honor Blackman of Goldfinger and Carol White as the beautiful girl who shows up and has come to force Baker to marry her and return east . Typically for the genre, a few known support actors appear , they are around to add incongruity as well as some richly comic lines to deliver , such as : Don Knight , Ben Johnson , Albert Salmi , Merlin Olsen , Robert Donner , Joyce Van Patten , Denver Pyle , Judi Meredith ,David Huddleston , Edward Faulkner , Paul Fix , David Huddleston , Bob Steele and Harry Carey Jr. Some of them are character actors from the world of McLaglen's mentor , John Ford .

It contains a catching and attractive musical score by Marvin Hamlisch . Atmospheric and evocative cinematography in Technicolor and color de Luxe by Harry Stradling J.R , Burt Kennedy's regular . This stirring tale of man bandoleros was professionally directed by Andrew McLagen , , though in fits and starts . He was the son of Ford's stock company stalwart, Victor McLagen. He was born in London but grew up around Hollywood, where his father often took him on movie sets. He learned the art of directing from greats like John Ford, who eventually gave him a job as assistant director on The Quiet man (1952). He holds the distinction of directing the most episodes of Gunsmoke (1955) and of Have gun Will travel (1957) . Being one of the few directors to have directed both Clint Eastwood and John Wayne , including Undefeated (1969) and Chisum (1970). He was a prolific craftsman who made all kinds of genres , such as : Wartime : Dirty dozen next mission, Sea wolves, Breakthrough, Wild geese, The Devil's brigade . Action adventure genre : Sahara , Ffolkes , Mitchell, On wings of eagles . And Western : Shenandoah, The way west , The rare breed, Bandolero, The last hard men , The Blue and the Gray and The shadow riders again with Katharine Ross. The flick will appeal to Dean Martin fans. Ratinf : 5.5/10 . Passable and acceptable . Well worth watching.

Los pianos mecánicos

Spanish/French co-production with great international cast formed by three big name actors : Mercouri , Mason and Kruger
At the beginning , a neurotic 34-year-old art critic (Hardy Krüger) , drives his sports car across the border from Paris to the small Spanish fishing village of Caldeya (actually Cadaques) in August 1964 , where he has been loaned the house of his friend and business partner , the English homosexual and art-gallery owner named Reginald (Maurice Teynac) . En route he stops to pick up Tom Dixon (José María Mompín) . At Tom's request , Vincent is taken by 11-year-old Daniel (Didier Haudepin) to collect the keys of Reginalds house from his father, Pascal Régnier (James Mason) . As the two arrive Régnier is in the process of throwing out his latest girlfriend . Regnier introduces Vincent to lesbian Jenny, (Melina Mercouri), she is owner of The Estrella bar with its jangling mechanical piano, who has already received a telegram from Reginald asking her to look after his friend . Vincent and Jenny fall in love and after they swim in the sea and sleep together . Later on , they scheme a journey to Barcelona together, a trip they take in spite of Reginald's arrival Vincent . As Jenny and Vincent are really attracted to each other and they become closer after he assists in the rescue of Jenny's friend : Nora (Keiko Kishi) , who has attempted to commit herself suicide. Jenny tries unsuccessfully to interest Vincent in Nora . Shortly after , they attend a party at the villa of millionaire Elvis Bryant , a former lover of Jenny , but a complete vacuum emerges and she shows Vincent around the art collection A. long the way they are really criticized by a group of children . While a charming romance crops up between two teens : Sergio (Renaud Verley) and Nadine , but it ends in fateful consequences . .. The hidden places...where everybody runs from life...and from morality!...the woman who is not quite inexperienced...the man who is not quite a man...the man who is not innocent .

Passable but boring melodrama develops a peculiar romance , plenty of sadness and melancholy , between a gay art critic and an independient as well as liberal woman . Los pianos mecánicos (aka Les pianos mécaniques in the slightly longer French language version) is loosely based on the 1962 novel Les pianos mécaniques (literally meaning player-pianos, which are heard playing in various bars during the film) by Henri-François Rey (1919-87). Based on on the novel "Les pianos mécaniques") play , being well adapted by the novelist himself and filmmaker , Juan Antonio Bardem . After the flop ¨Nunca pasa nada¨, considered to be one of the best films , Bardem met the French producer Raymond Borderie who hired him to take charge the novel written by Henry Francois Rey . It resulted in a dull and slow-paced Spanish/French co-production formed by two companies : Precitel Paris and Cesareo Gonzalez Productions , but in Spain got a big success due to its daring theme and some brief erotic scenes , in spite of numerous cuts carried out by the Francoist censorship . Fine performances from Melina Mercouri as a Bohemian bourgeoisie lady , a lonely woman who falls in love with a strange homosexual well played by Hardy Kruger . James Mason plays a novelist mainly occupied in the pursuit of girlsand drinking whisky, who spends his summers in Caldeya with his son : the prodige child Didier Haupedin , to whom he is devoted . The movie displays a Spanish secondary star-studded , such as : Jose Maria Mompin , Rafael Luis Calvo , Luis Induni , María Albaicín and international actors as Renaud Verley , Maurice Teynac , Karin Mossberg , and the little boy , Didier Haudepin . This is a 'rara avis' film of the 60s because dealing with a particular portrait of Bohemian people in the Spanish society of the sixties , it didn't please the pro-Franco authorities and was strongly censored . Bardem's conceptual and political audacity as well as the social criticism result to be so evident in this film who he had to fight the censorship which didn't admit the some engaging scenes and obligated to make some changes . It contains atmospheric and glimmering cinematography by Gábor Pogány and adequate musical score by Georges Delerue . Being shot on location in Barcelona, Catalonia, and Cadaqués, Girona, Catalonia, Spain .

The motion picture was regular and slowly directed by Juan Antonio Bardem , being presented in Cannes Festival . Bardem was a good filmmaker and older brother of Pilar Bardem and son of notorious actors as Rafael Bardem and Matilde Muñoz Sampedro . Furthermore , he is uncle of Oscarized Javier Bardem , Carlos Bardem , Mónica Bardem and father of Miguel Bardem . Bardem was an outspoken critic of the Franco regime, his political views prevented him from gaining a diploma from the Spanish cinema institute in 1947 . Thereafter, he worked as a critic and finally broke into films as writer/director of the much acclaimed ¨Death of a cyclist¨ or Muerte De un Ciclista (1955) , which won the 1956 Cannes International Critics Award . Other classic films he wrote or directed are the following ones : ¨Bienvenido Mr. Marshall¨ (co-directed by Luis Garcia Berlanga) , ¨Esa Pareja Feliz¨, ¨Comicos¨ , ¨Sonatas¨, ¨La Venganza¨, ¨Nuca pasa nada¨, ¨Varietes¨, ¨7 días de Enero¨ , El puente¨, and the prestigious series : Garcia Lorca , muerte de un poeta , among others . His big hit was ¨Calle Mayor¨ , it was voted ninth best Spanish film by professionals and critics in 1996 Spanish cinema centenary and being prized in Festival Of Venice and this one is deservedly considered one of the best movies of the Spanish cinema . During the start of filming , student protests in Madrid, led to the arrest of director Juan Antonio Bardem, a communist, in the city of Palencia and carried out by the Brigada Politica Social . He was jailed for a few days and released on the condition that he could not talk about his personal life or beliefs during interviews related to the film . After Bardem's jailing and release, he decided to stop early filming in Palencia, and shot the remaining of the movie in other cities . ¨Los pianos mecanicos¨ rating : 5.5/10 , average , but it is essential and indispensable seeing for Spanish cinema fans .

The Great Wall

Spectacular film in which some European mercenaries meet a secret army defending the Great Wall of China against a horde of monsters
A band of European mercenaries, including William Garin (Matt Damon) and Pero Tovar (Pedro Pascal ) , travel to China during the reign of the Renzong Emperor . Resting in a cave a few miles north of the Great Wall, they are attacked by a monster, leaving only William and Tovar alive. They cut off the monster's leg and bring it with them. The next day, reaching the Wall, they are imprisoned at a stronghold under command General Shao (Hanyu Zhang) , Strategist Wang (Andy Lau) and a Commander : Lin Mae (Tian Jing) . Furthermore , they meet a strange European man called Ballard (Willem Dafoe) . They belong to ¨Nameless Order¨ who exists to combat a horde of alien monsters called Taotieh, which attacks once every sixty years. As they defend the Wall against a horde of monstrous creatures . While examining the severed monster leg, the Order's commanders are surprised by the first assault from the monster horde, one week early. One of mankind's greatest wonders. 1700 years to build. 5500 miles long. What were they trying to keep out?

This is a monster movie full of noisy action , bloody combats , groundbreaking attacks , impressive battles and a lot of digital effects . It deals with two European mercenaries in search of the secret to gunpowder and they are taken prisoner by soldiers of the Nameless Order , while confronting an unimaginable and seemingly invincible forcé . Lavishly produced , it was the most expensive Chinese film ever, with a budget of $140 million . The picture relies heavily on the really excessive special effects by 3D Computer Generator with extreme digitalization . The movie contains breathtaking battles , overwhelming fights , spectacular images and a cast of thousands , due to the huge amount of crew involved . The picture is more a monster movie than a historical or Chinese custom yarn .

Brilliant cinematography from Stuart Dryburgh and Xiaoding Zhao, including various filming locations , such as New Zealand , Qingdao, China , WanDa Studios, Qingdao, China . However , the producers were denied permission to shot on the real Great Wall, so some landscapes were added digitally. Although the colored mountains and some outdoors in the movie are authentic . And thrilling as well as evocative musical score with oriental sounds by Ramin Djawadi of Game of thrones .The motion picture was professionally directed by the Chinese Zhang Ziyi , though it has some flaws and gaps . Ziyi has established himself firmly as a distinguished filmmaker/producer whose last films have generated millions in China box office . Originally released in 2002 in Asia, it would not be another two years until this film was released in the United States . Studio executives were concerned that the foreign-language film would not be successful at the box office with American audiences . Among fans, this is part of the "Zhang Ziyi trilogy," which includes Hero (2002), Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) and House of Flying Daggers (2004) . In all three films, her romantic relationship is ended with the death of either herself or her boyfriend . Zhang Yimou is an excellent and veteran director who in his films often explores the dark side of life in small Chinese rural communities . Most of his pictures begin with the title displayed in Chinese calligraphy style . He has achieved several successes such as ¨Curse of the Golden flower¨ , ¨House of flying daggers¨ , Hero¨ , ¨The road home¨, ¨The red lantern¨, "Shanghai Triad" winning several prizes in various International Festivals . And Zhang Yimou's ambitious historical epic ¨Hero¨ , it has grossed at the Chinese box office to become one of the best biggest release of all time, including American tentpoles , being already the third highest-grossing Chinese film ever, as well as the top grossing Chinese film of 2003 . This ¨The Great Wall¨ also got a big success at boxoffice all around the world . Rating : 6/10 . Passable and acceptable . Essential and indispensable seeing for adventures fans .

Rafael was born in Linares 1942 , as a consequence, he is nicknamed both "El Ruiseñor de Linares" ("Nightingale of Linares") and "El Divo de Linares" ("The Divo from Linares") but is also known as "El Niño". His family moved to Madrid when he was nine months old, and he started singing when he was just three years-old. He joined a children's choir at age four. When he was 9, he was recognized as the best child voice in Europe at a contest in Salzburg, Austria . Raphael adopted his own peculiar singing style from the beginning ; he is known for acting each one of his songs while on stage , emphasizing his gestures with high dramatic effect. It is not unusual for Raphael to ad lib lyrics as to localize a song depending on the venue he's singing at, wear Latin American peasant costumes and dance folk dances within a song , kicking and demolishing a mirror , or doing the moves of a flamenco dancer or a bullfighter onstage . He also possesses a wide vocal range, which he often used in the beginning of his career as to evoke a choirboy approach to some songs . At his beginnings he goes Madrid where participates in broadcasting contests and after in Festival Benidorm where gets a big hit, from now on, he plays songs all around the world. In 1966 and 1967 he represented Spain at the XII and XIII Eurovision Song Contest in Luxembourg, singing "Yo soy aquél" and Vienna, "Hablemos del amor" and placing both 7th and 6th position, although he did not win. It was the first time that Spain obtained a high place in the competition. This served as a turning point in Raphael's career, making him an international star. He traveled and performed worldwide in Europe, Latin America , Puerto Rico, the United States, Russia and Japan. Songs such as "Yo soy aquel" (his signature song), "Cuando tú no estás", "Mi gran noche", "Digan lo que digan", "Tema de amor", "Estuve enamorado" ,¨Balada triste de una trompeta¨which Raphael does in clown face in the film ¨Sin un adiós¨ and "Desde aquel día" cemented his status as a major international singing star. Rafael performed popular songs as ¨Balada triste de una trompeta¨, in which to be born a subsequent film : ¨A Sad Trumpet Ballad¨ (210) by Alex de la Iglesia and ¨His is my life¨ usually sung by Shirley Bassey that here Rafael sings very badly in English language . As Raphael became a success in Latin America, he made a habit of recording Latin American folk standards including "Huapango torero", "Sandunga" and "Llorona"; they were hits in Mexico. He even appeared live on The Ed Sullivan Show with great success. He performed very famous songs all over the world , such as : Escandalo, Tamborilero , Noche de paz , Blanca Navidad , Como yo te amo , and many others ; getting a great fame and fortune . He married aristocrat, journalist and writer Natalia Figueroa, in Venice (Italy) on 14 July 1972 and they have three children . Raphael's health faced a major setback in 2003, when his liver started failing due to a latent bout with Hepatitis B ; he recovered successfully after a transplant . Nowadays , he goes on performing with big hits . Currently he carries out international tours that take him to Peru, Colombia, USA (Miami, New Jersey and New York's Carnegie Hall), The Dominican Republic , Puerto Rico and other South American countries . Rafael was directed by notorious filmmakers as Vicente Escrivá in El Golfo, Sin un adios, El angel and Javier Aguirre in Volver a nacer . His last film was in 1975 directed by Antonio Isasi Isasmendi, a documentary titled ¨Rafael en Rafael¨ . In ¨El Golfo¨ or ¨Romance in Acapulco¨ Rafael is well accompanied by a decent cast as Shirley Jones , Héctor Suárez and Pedro Armendáriz Jr .

It packs a nice score with catching songs , and attractive soundtrack composed by Manuel Alejandro . As well as an atmospheric cinematography by Juan Julio Baena , though a perfect remasterization being really necessary, that 's why the film copy is worn-out. Being sgot on marvelous locations in Acapulco, Guerrero,Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico and New York City, New York, USA . The motion picture was well directed by Vicente Escrivá and the third Raphael film made by this commercial filmmaker , though in slow-moving . He directed Rafael in 3 films : El Golfo , El angel , Sin un adiós with Leslie Anne Down , as well as Mario Camus who directed him in three movies : Al ponerse el sol , Digan lo que digan y Cuando tu no estas . Vicente Escrivá was a writer , producer and director , known for successful films throughout a long career with hits as Balarrasa (1951) , Sor Intrépida (1952) , Un Traje Blanco (1956) , Montoyas and Tarantos (1989) , 3 films starred by Rafael : El Angel , El Golfo , Sin un adiós , and 3 starred by Maria Rosario Omaggio : Visanteta Estáte Quieta , El Virgo De Visanteta and La Lozana Andaluza . He also made some TV series such as : Lleno Por Favor , Manos a La Obra , Farmacia De Guardia , and Réquiem En Granada at his best . Rating : 6/10 , acceptable and passable Rafael movie .

The Apartment

Black-edged and fun romantic comedy whith brilliant performance that won five well- deserved Academy Awards
Diamond-sharp satire with great cast gives powerful performances, dealing with a lowly insurance clerk called C.C. Baxter (Jack Lemmon) who attempts to climb the corporate ladder by loaning his apartment out to executives having affairs , only to outsmart himself when the girl of his dreams is brought there by his chief (Fred MacMurray) . Things go wrong , however , when he unwittlingly falls in love for sweet elevator operator (Shirley MacLaine) , the most recent love interest of his unfeeling chief Sheldrake . Problems arise , when Lemmon saves MacLaine from a suicide attempt .

A splendid film with magnificent and amusing script by the compelling tandem LAL Diamond and Bily Wilder about a fast-talking clerk : Jack Lemmon , an elevator operator : Shirley MacLaine and the scheming philander chief executive : Fred MacMurray . Rightly enjoyable with plenty of sly bits of business and fun-filled , milestone comedy which neatly combines humor , mirth , entertaining situations , a feeling romance and bitterness . Giving a jaundiced vision leavened by a tender sympathy for the frailty of human motives . Adding the enjoyable finale , it is rather stirring , given the delicate skill with which Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine blend pathos and comedy . Very good performance from Jack Lemmon as a botcher Clerk who forges ahead in the rat race by lending his apartment out to philandering senior executives . Phenomenal playing from everyone , including a top-notch secondary cast , such as Ray Walston , Jack Kruschen , David Lewis , Hope Holiday , Joyce Jameson , David White , Edie Adams and many others .

The motion picture was very well directed by Billy Wilder who includes several punchlines . Excellent direction render this stunning story more funny than usual . One of Wilder's most inventive and furious screen adaptations . It achieved 5 Academy Awards , including best film and closed up several other nominations : acting awards for Jack Lemmon and MacLaine and Jack Kruschen as Baxter's doctor neighbour . Billy was one of the best directors of history . In 1939 started the partnership with Charles Bracket on such movies as ¨Ninotchka¨ , ¨Ball of fire¨ , making their film debut as such with ¨Major and the minor¨ . ¨Sunset Boulevard¨ was their last picture together before they split up . Later on , Billy collaborated with another excellent screenwriter IAL Diamond . Both of them won an Academy Award for ¨Stalag 17¨ dealing with a POW camp starred by William Holden . After that , they wrote/produced/directed such classics as ¨Ace in the hole¨ , the touching romantic comedy ¨Sabrina¨ , the Hickcoktian courtroom puzzle game ¨Witness for the prosecution¨ and two movies with the great star Marilyn Monroe , the warmth ¨Seven year itch¨ and this ¨Some like hot¨. All of them include screenplays that sizzle with wit . But their biggest success and highpoint resulted to be the sour and fun ¨The apartment¨. Subsequently in the 60s and 70s , the duo fell headlong into the pit , they realized nice though unsuccessful movies as ¨Buddy buddy¨ ,¨Fedora¨ , ¨Front page¨ and ¨Secret life of Sherlock Holmes¨, though the agreeable ¨Avanti¨ slowed the decline . The team , Wilder-Diamond , had almost disappeared beneath a wave of bad reviews and failures . ¨The Apartment¨ rating : 7.5/10 . Above average , essential and indispensable watching ; extremely funny and riveting film and completely entertaining . It justly deserves its place among the best comedy ever made . One of the very funniest films of all time and to see and see again . It's the kind of movie where you know what's coming but , because the treatment , enjoy it all the same .

Moving and action-packed Western with a simple , standard story that engages the viewer until the last scene , dealing with a cavalry troop escorting a wagon train . An ordinary Cavalry Western in which a officer doctor is saddled with the risked assignment of steering a wagon train through hostile Indian territory . The film packs thrills , noisy action , crossfire , and being enough entertaining . It's a medium budget film with comfortable actors , technicians , functional production values and pleasing results . This was the first Cinemascope Western and the first Scope movie of any kind from Warner Brothers , a studio formerly committed to the 3D process , and not forgetting the Panoramic shots that showed the new process off to its best effect , using Zeiss anamorphic lenses . Decent and pleasant traditional Western with professional direction and flawlessly acted by Guy Madison as Capt. Robert MacClaw , Joan Weldon as Martha Cutting and James Whitmore as Sgt. Elliott . Guy Madison was one of the most popular Western stars at the time , he also performed in the first 3D Western : The charge of Feather River . Cline with a very bad print , being utterly necessary a perfect remasterizing . Being shot on location in Russell Ranch - Triunfo Canyon Road , Janss Conejo Ranch, Thousand Oaks, Agoura, California, and Warner Ranch, Calabasas, California. This breeze-fresh movie filled with get-up-and-go was professionally directed by David Butler, though drags at times , balancing in ups and downs . Butler was a good craftsman who directed all kinds of genres with special penchant for comedy , musical and drama . As he directed : April in Paris , Tea for two , Playmates , Doubting Thomas , Caught in the draft , The story of Seabiscuit , Lullaby in Broadway , The princess and the pirate , Captain January , The road to Morocco , and Westerns as : San Antonio , Calamity Jane and this The Command . Road to Perdition

Atmospheric and brilliant mobster movie with extraordinary performance and superb cinematography
This is a splendid movie which fancies itself a revenger father called Michael Sullivan (Tom Hanks) , he is right-hand to Mr Rooney (Paul Newman) who has a nasty son (Daniel Craig) . When the mob enforcer's son (Tyler Hoechlin) spies , he's in for a shock and things go wrong . All of them put Sullivan at odds with Rooney who is forced to side with his son , making Sullivan an enemy of the mob . Sullivan then takes action to protect his family and to put an end to the threat . Forcing him and his son on the run and to take to the road . Pray for Michael Sullivan . Every father is a hero to his son . Every son holds the future for his father . The innocence of a son is surpassed only by the father's will to save it.

Based on the dark graphic novel by Max Collins and Richard Piers Rayner adapted faithfully by David Self. Anyone with a fondness for mobster movies will find quite a bit to admire this fabulous film . This is a magnificent picture , except that the yarn turns so much bathetic and extremely sentimental , at times . This thought-provoking material blends comic-strip , a tridimensional kid's eye pastiche and ordinary mobster movie , though remains fundamentally in comic-book wake . Cast is pretty well , giving outstanding acting . Highlighted by Hanks' acting as father down a path of redemption and revenge , though some critics state Tom is fatally miscast . Paul Newman as mob boss and Daniel Craig are good , the latter as the rutlhess partner in crime . Jude Law as the terminally self-conscious hit-man steals of show as a whacked weegee-style photographer . Other prestigious actors appearing are the following ones : Dylan Baker , Ciran Hinds , Jennifer Jason Leigh and Stanley Tucci as Frank Nitti

The film packs a colorful and glimmering cinematography by Conrad Hall , who previously brought American Beauty , to whom the film is dedicated . It was shot in various locations as Grand Rapids, Saugatuck, Zeeland , Michigan , Pullman , Chicago , Geneva , Evanston , Momence , Beecher , Thornton , Illinois . As well as sensitive and rousing musical score by Thomas Newman. Being lavishly produced by Joan Bradshaw , Walter F. Parkes , Dean Zanuck , Richard D. Zanuck and Sam Mendes himself . This gangster picture was well directed by Sam Mendes , though with no originaly . Mendes is a good director who has made some successful films played by important actors , such as : Jarhead , American Beauty , Revolutionary road , this Road to perdition and two Bond movies : Skyfall and Spectre . Rating: 8/10 . Above average. Well worth watching . Essential and indispensable watching .

Classy disaster of the 70s with big name cast and decent special effects
Ordinary catastrophe movie in soap opera and vintage style with all star cast dealing with a huge earthquake outbursts at a noisy city. It has a long prologue presenting Charlton Heston, his drunk wife, Ava Gardner, and his lover, Genevieve Bujold. As well as other characters as a spectacle motorcycle rider, Richard Roundtree, a drunken man, Walter Matthaw, an avenger military, Marjoe Gortner, a besieged beautiful girl, Victoria Principal, and several others. As an earthquake causing death, destruction and wreak havoc. This impressive quake has an awesome and destructive power enhanced by the sensorround sound.

Acceptable disaster movie paced in fits and starts with a great cast, though a little wasted. The impressive cast cannot save this passable film , at all. It lacks deep characterization , displaying some boring moments and a tiring script that was presumibly well paid . This was a successful catastrophe movie that belongs to disaster movie genre of the 70s and 80s such as Towering inferno, Poseidon, Beyond Poseidon, The swarm, Avalanche, The Russian rollercoaster, Avalanche express , Airport I, II, III.. and whose main representative was producer Irwin Allen. It packs primitive and traditional special effects by LB Abbott , with no computer generator effects . It contains an atmospheric and adequate cinematography by Philip H. Lahtrop. And a sensitive and enjoyable musical score by the always great and incombustible John Williams. Main cast is pretty well, giving understanding interpretations as Charlton Heston, Genevieve Bujold, Ava Gardner and Lorne Greene. Support cast is frankly excellent such as Lloyd Nolan, Victoria Principal, Barry Sullivan, Pedro Armendariz Jr, John Randolph, Scott Hylands, Donald Moffat, brothers Jesse, Alan Vint, Walter Matthaw, George Murdock and usual in catastrophe movies, George Kennedy, among others.

The motion picture financed by Jennings Lang who produced Airport series was professionally directed by Mark Robson. He was a classical director. Robson had a prolific career, delivering classic movies, as well as hits and flops. Subsequently, he directed all kinds of genres in films as Peyton Place, The harder they fall, Edge of doom, Champion, Bright victory, Trial , Bridges at Toko-Ri, Return to Paradise, The inn of the sixth happiness, Valley of dolls, Von Ryan express, Last command , The prize, From the terrace, among others. The Kid

Colorful and attractive Western about a friendly little boy and his relationship with the famous gunfighter Billy the Kid
It is set after the Lincoln County War, a range war between rival cattle interests . As Billy became a cowboy in Lincoln County (New Mexico) for cattleman Tunstall allied to Chisum , but Tunstall is killed and started the Lincoln County war against Murphy as main enemy . Billy seeks revenge for his death and he became a nasty gunman with a price on his head and an outlaw pursued by several posses . The Kid was a leading gunman for one faction but Pat Garrett, a former friend of Billy, stayed out of the fighting . Then Pat Garrett was elected sheriff of Lincoln County and set out to capture the young outlaw. Garret and his team pull off a hot chase against the Billy and his henchmen . He caught him and Billy was convicted of killing sheriff Brady and sentenced to be hanged . The story is narrated under sight view a young boy called Rio (Jake Schur) and his sister Sara (Leila George) who witness Billy the Kid's (Dane DeHaan) encounter with Sheriff Pat Garrett (Ethan Hawke).

This is an intense and moving Western about a known gunslinger, William Bonney , alias Billy the Kid , the most famous outlaw-gunfighter of the South-west and his particular relationship to a naive little boy . The film gets spectacular shoot em'up , thrills and emotion ; it's agreeable , although nothing new but displays an ordinary pace and with no originality . This is an interesting look at the known story of the West's greatest bandit . A tense and suspenseful Western with a simple story that engages the viewer until the last scene . The film packs thrills , drama , violence , frantic action , crossfire , and being enough entertaining . It's a medium budget film with acceptable actors , technicians , functional production values and pleasing results . Pretty good and pleasant traditional Western with professional direction and flawlessly acted by Ethan Hawke , Jake Schur , Chris Pratt , Leila George , Adam Baldwin and Dane DeHaan who steals the show as The Kid , and he bears remarkable resemblace to him , including his first appearance similar to the Billy's famous photography . A nice production full of charming characters , shootouts and intense drama . This ¨The Kid¨ not the best Western ever,...but pretty darn close . It packs an evocative cinematography , though I miss more outdoors and gorgeous landscapes . Enjoyable musical score composed and performed by Shelby Gaines and Latham Gaines .The motion picture was well directed by actor/filmmaker Vincent D'Onofrio who played a brief role and previously made Don't go in the Woods. Rating : 6.5/10 . Decent modern Western .

The movie is based on actual events , as Billy was pursued , detained , incarcerated and shackled foot and hand , but he managed to getaway from prison by shooting dead the deputies guarding him . On 15 July 1881 Pat Garret tracked him to the home of Pete Maxwell at Fort Sumner, New Mexico, where Billy was along with his band . Legend says that Billy killed twenty-one men in his twenty-one years of life, the exact figure is not known but is thought to be much less . After Pat Garrett was not reelected sheriff of Lincoln County, however he was commissioned a captain in the Texas Rangers. On 19 February 1908 he was driving his buggy on a lonely desert road, he stepped down to urinate and was shot in the back by a hired killer. A man stood trial for the murder but was acquitted. Controversy still surrounds the end of Pat Garrett.

La novia

A dramatic and really tragic story about a loving triangle , being based on "Bodas de sangre" by Federico García Lorca
This is a Passionate and Extreme Movie plenty of love , drama , tragedy and death . It deals with the story of a love triangle between two young men (Asier Etxeandia , Alex Garcia) and a woman (Imma Cuesta) , the Bride , who is a Triumph of Beauty. Inseparable since childhood, the Bride and the Groom share a gentle, and yet, ardent passion, stronger than the desolate, exposed and stark land that encircles them and perhaps even stronger than love itself. And the Bride follows through the air, like a blade of grass . Then the Neighbor (Ana Fernández) comes to chat with The Mother (Luisa Gavasa , Goya Academy Award winner ) , and reveals to her that The Bride was previously involved with a man named Leonardo Felix, a relative of the men who murdered The Mother's husband. The Mother, who still hates the Felix family, is furious, but decides to visit the girl before bringing the matter up with The Groom. But the lovers carried away by their passion defying all moral and social habits . Their disobedience will have unexpected consequences. Now riddled with indecision, the fair Bride is due to marry the gentle and stalwart Groom, however, the unconventional Leonardo, a married man (married to Leticia Dolera) with a baby and a mutual childhood friend, still feels the same unrestful, reckless, still, achingly hopeless passion for the Bride. Eventually, as the Bride silently prepares for her wedding , the feeble flesh will soon succumb to carnal yearning , devoured by deception and to the long-boiling passion .

A few of the themes present in ¨Blood Wedding¨ are the cycle of life, the progression of time, conflicted choices, anguish , deception, fate, forbidden yearnings, unappeased desires and nature. The unavoidable fate of three lovers standing powerless before the true nature of man , along with a Freudian reading of the play reveals Lorca to be exploring human nature. The theme of choice is evident in the characters of Leonardo, the bride, and the bridegroom. The theme of fate also ties into the themes of choice and deception. The bride's choice to marry the groom, despite the fact that she still loves Leonardo. This is ironic, because she attempts to choose both men and loses both of them instead. Fate plays an important role in the plot of Blood Wedding, with its plot twists and final outcome. Finally, the theme of nature is present in Blood Wedding: the moon, the trees, the river, death (in the form of the beggar woman), the vineyard, orange blossoms, etc. These references to nature suggest that there is something predetermined in human nature, and relates back to fate. Main cast are pretty good , a decent trio protagonist : Inma Cuesta , Asier Etxeandia , Álex García . Frankly marvelous support cast such as : Luisa Gavasa , Carlos Álvarez-Nóvoa , Leticia Dolera Ana Fernández , Trujillo , María Alfonsa Rosso , Manuela Vellés , Mariana Cordero . It contains a luxurious and brilliant cinematography by Migue Amoedo , set in the middle of the pale desert and barren land . Being shot on location in Cappadoccia, Turkey , Monasterio de Casbas, Huesca, Aragón , El Temple, Huesca, Aragón , Los Monegros, Zaragoza , Aragón, Spain . Sensitive and rousing musical score by synthesizer , being composed by Shigeru Umebayashi . The motion picture was professionally directed by Paula Ortiz .

The play has been adapted as stage as cinemas as TV and translated into English and retitled Bitter Oleander, had a brief Broadway run in 1935. Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne
Episode 6, Season 8

Disappointing ending episode full of violence , surprises , twists and turns
An embarrassing final portraying the violently graphic and strong facing off among various families in an undetermined time and set in the aftermath of the devastating attack on King's Landing in which dragons used their unlimited power and Iron fleet utilized the scorpion weapons . Forces have arrived at Kings Landing for the final battle and Daenerys Targaryen , Emilia Clarke , must face the survivors.

Here writers David Benioff, D.B. Weiss failed in delivering enough and interesting surprises to enjoy the hardcore fans . This is sixth episode , eight season , of the popular series that takes its name from the first novel in the book series "A Game of Thrones" - which is actually known as "A Song of Ice and Fire",",and most of the show is largely faithful to the books , being this last chapter a free adaptation .This final epic dealing with nine noble families battle for control of the mythical land of Westeros results to be a spectacular ending series dealing with friction between the houses Stark, Lannister, Baratheon and Targaryen and with the remaining great houses Greyjoy, Tully, Arryn,Tyrell and Martell , but turning to be a disenchanment , that's why the surprises are absurd and disconcerting . A real disappointment that has been panned by a lot of reviewers .The dragon attacks are imaginatively brought to life on groundbreaking images when some buildings explode with the green fires , including great production values and outstanding scenarios , adding colorful computer generator images , but all of them falling short . However , the rousing and impressive musical score by Ramin Djawadi is frankly sensational , as usual . As well as the colorful and glimmer cinematography , though some dark , by cameraman Jonathan Freeman . This final episoce was regularly directed by Miguel Sapochnik .

This is a sexy and high-standing drama with emotions , thrills , a lot of nudism and a great deal of loving scenes .
