Colossal artist thinking about the futility of efforts to create a masterpiece.
Colossal artist thinking about the futility of efforts to create a masterpiece. Why do you need to say something when you can not be understood though you put it clearly? Shouldn't you reject even the smallest attempts to create something compromised that would not be an ideal, measure, which requires society?

The main problem of the hero is the fear of the possibility of failure, natural for everyone who ever trod the stage, sat down in above the paper, or picked up a brush (except crazy daredevils, of course, that take their indiscrimination and human ignorance as their own talent). And the attempt to kill his internal critic revolves expected failure.

Finding inspiration and insight within itself distinguishes this picture from the previous Fellini's giant "La Dolce Vita" where the hero finds his salvation in women, luxury and pleasure. In "8?" women also have a crucial role, as the film demonstrates blatant sexuality and the result of a child's sexual complexes. Only here they play a role of a barriers, which the hero can not get rid of. He understands and knows what the problem is even he says that he wants to leave everything for the sake of art, but he is not ready.

The artistic value of the Fellini's film is hard to overemphasize. The philosophical content, which even on the tenth revision will give you new ideas and thoughts, and unmatched picture, like in a museum of fine art, fascinate. First ragged thread of the narrative seems a kaleidoscope of disconnected scenes and canvases. Thoughts wander, it is difficult to capture the essence. Some times it seems like you are in a more emotional version of Bergman's film. But gradually the feelings of the main character string all that happens on a single core, form such kind of narrative, the other here seems inappropriate, inadequate, that could not explain anything. Therein lies the main paradox of the film, fruitless pursuit of the ideal which leads hero to despair, gives Fellini this ideal.

Demain
(2015)

Clearly, the picture is noteworthy. Especially it will be interesting to those who are concerned about environmental issues, globalization, urbanization, etc.
Optimistic film about the sad end of our world. The authors fantasize about how the planet can escape from the globalization that destroys it. Film gives the examples of autonomous communities, local economies, implemented or revived ideas that can be effective mechanisms for rescue from the sixth wave of extinction. Which, by the way, the authors categorically attribute to human activities. Researchers' arguments are based on the examples which are not some freak phenomenons, but a very real experience of successful farms, businesses, cities and even countries.

From the artistic point of view the film also has a fair value. Temporytm is provided by the interesting plans, offscreen dialogues, unobtrusive infographics and a wonderful soundtrack. Non accidental and very stylish music - is the most successful technical solution that adorns the story.

The film is generally bright, shot in light colors, and the characters turn to the audience with a lively optimism, though they are saying that in 100 years we can disappear as a species if we will not start to make at least some effort for our own salvation.

This film brought the second Cesar to the star of 'Inglourious Basterds' Mélanie Laurent. Only the first she has received as an actress for the movie "Do not worry, I'm fine" in 2007, and now she has won as a director in the category Best Documentary Film.

Clearly, the picture is noteworthy. Especially it will be interesting to those who are concerned about environmental issues, globalization, urbanization, etc. It is unlikely that it will move the boulder of all- consuming capitalism, reach out the hearts of politicians and businessmen. But many things are going to clarify.

This Beautiful Fantastic
(2016)

The film is definitely worth repeated viewing and can be seen as a family, children, "not for everyone", romance and more.
They say for good story you need to put ordinary people in unusual conditions. In this movie all is done exactly opposite — extraordinary people trying to live a normal life. Very gentle and sensitive, sometimes melodramatic, sometimes a little fantasy story about friendship. A lot in the characters and their stories is left out of the scenes and storyline, that adds its charm, but sometimes it confuses too, because at the end of the story plot is sometimes torn and increasingly appear worn cliché. But the subtle British humor, solid cast alloy and sincere dedication of the characters to each other and the common cause keep you in good shape up to the final.

This is the second serious work of the director and screenwriter Simon Aboud (after the movie "Comes a Bright Day" 2012), and it may well be his lift up. The film is shot in a beautiful style, has a well defined set design and fascinating close-ups. A variety of pastel colors contrast beautifully with the dark attires of the protagonist, who boldly challenges Amélie.

Among the actors, despite the presence of the BAFTA winner and a sweet dream of all women in the world, Andrew Scott (prof. Moriarty, who have not understood;) ), Tom Wilkinson should be noted. His image only is not cause any issues. Old horse, as you known, doesn't spoil the furrow. And here he is, in fact, determines the nature of the entire film. Another picture in a long creative biography of the actor, for which he is most likely again will be nominated for something as a supporting actor. You can't escape from your fate ;)

The overall impression is slightly spoiled by the trolling of the Russian speaking distributors who translated "This Beautiful Fantastic" as "Fantastic love and where to find it". Trying to play on a borrowed brand stinks, especially that the original title itself is intriguing. In Ukrainian version it is "Magic Magnificents" and it is magic and magnificent, and correct!

Overall, the film is definitely worth repeated viewing and can be seen as a family, children, "not for everyone", romance and more. It is all of those at once and any of these limits does not fit it unambiguously.

From me movie has solid 8/10 (8 of 10) and the tab for the home video library.
