Those Who Wish Me Dead
(2021)

Not sure why so much negativity with movies
Decent film, good pace, good to see AJ back on the screen. She brings quiet dignity to a character that has been through the fire (sorry). The boy is a talented actor that brings presence to the big screen. One to look out for. The rest of the cast gave a stellar performance. Far better than the 6/10 average it has been given so far. Downside of the internet is the negativity. Upside is being able to comment one's own opinion.

Sicario
(2015)

Never gets old
Gets better and better as it progresses. Benicio especially.

Honest, brutal, doesn't varnish the truth.

Best movie of its genre, hands down (or up).

Dexter
(2006)

I miss Dexter...
First of all, first timers, enjoy rooting for a serial killer. Dexter is a righteous dude, surprising at it may seem to read such a statement.

I have rewatched this show three times and I enjoy it, flaws and all.

8/10 easy. I give it a 9. Bring Dexter into your life, you won't regret it.

Ps-I would love a reboot and a chance for a more definitive ending...just sayin'

Queen of the Damned
(2002)

Only one dodgy scene at the beginning...
The rest of the movie is great. The cast and crew did a stellar job (Aaliyah is chillingly beautiful) and the soundtrack is unparalleled, it fits the movie perfectly.

Ignore the low score on IMDb. Watch and enjoy it as a stand-alone film, as it is a world away from Interview With The Vampire. At least an 7/10 if you like the genre, and it is on Netflix in most countries, so go for it

Angel
(1999)

Angel Tv series
Forerunner of many great tv shows, often copied, never bettered.

Horror drama with just the right amount of humour, executed by a great cast and crew.

I watch this all the way through from beginning to end every couple of years and I love it more each time.

Even though it is 20 years old, great storytelling is timeless.

Never less than 8/10 even for someone not a fan of the genre.

Go for it, you'll be rewarded with wit, warmth, and the wicked.

What We Do in the Shadows
(2019)

What We Do In The Shadows
So funny I laugh out loud every episode, and then I rewatch immediately.

Deadpan humour along with excellent writing and unparalleled delivery by the talented cast.

Watch the pilot all the way through as it takes 5 minutes or so to warm up.

Well worth the investment.

Dollhouse
(2009)

Way Ahead Even 10 Years Later
See it all the Way Through To The End. Many judgements were made after only a few episodes before the plot arc was revealed. Brings both hope and terror for the future. Genius. Reminds me of the creativity of the best of Twilight Zone and Outer Limits, with a bit of Phillip K. Dick thrown in.

Invest. An easy 8 out of 10 even if sci-fi is not your thing.

Damien: Omen II
(1978)

How is this scored so low?
Great story, great casting (especially Damien and his guardians), and perfect soundtrack make for a film my friends and I rewatch at least once a year, and always from beginning to end.

Genius that is often plagiarised, never equalled.

I cannot believe someone that enjoys the genre can score this any less than an 8.

Watch and enjoy.

Ps - I bought on blu-ray and I couldn't be happier with the quality. Like it was a brand new film (after the opening credits have finished).

Dismissed
(2017)

Great little film
Well cast, well written, and well worth a watch.

The initial shaky camera work at the beginning only lasts a few minutes.

A believable movie (one only has to check the news headlines any given day) showing the dire consequences of underestimating how far some people will go to get their own way.

Highly recommended

The Disappearance of Alice Creed
(2009)

Gem(ma) of a movie - why so low a score?
Doesn't get any better than this. I rewatch this film on a regular basis, especially with anyone that has yet to see.

Three actors and the lowest of budgets allows for no distractions and none are needed.

Watch, it's a good 8, and shows with the right actors, crew, and writing, budget doesn't matter so much.

Highly recommended

Skin Deep
(1989)

So funny I cried w/laughter
A comedy with heart, the movie has stood the test of time (30 years ago since I first saw it. Yikes).

Blake Edwards' directing with John Ritter's acting (before more polite tv comedy became his mainstay) make this a must watch, if you can find it

I would think that the great tv show Californication owes a debt to this movie.

Heartily recommended.

Pet
(2016)

Pleasantly surprised
I got a recommendation to watch so I went in not knowing anything. Glad I did.

Great writing despite what the ridiculously low-scoring amateur critics say (mostly for attention I suspect).

Give it a watch if you can stomach something a little disturbing at times.
