I usually like sequels as a rule - or at least a lot more than the average movie-goer seems to. I think if you go in with the right mind-set, that everything is already set up so it can get straight into the fun and that everything has to be ramped up from the original, that you can have a great time with them. 'Inside Out 2' did not feel that way to me. It felt very similar to the original in almost every way - except for being more fun.
My biggest problem with the original was that it simply wasn't funny enough, and this one is even less funny again. It is missing the character of 'Bing Bong' which is a huge hit. There's no character in here that can replace him and so that leaves a huge void in the movie. He was the heart and soul of the original and also responsible for 90% of the humour.
The story-line also feels strikingly similar to the original. I understand there's only so much you can do in this world, but surely they could have changed it up more than this? If they do make a third one, and I'm sure they will because these films are a license to print money, I will be curious what they choose to do with the story.
Basically I was just bored during 'Inside Out 2'. It never justified its existence, other than as a money making venture in my eyes. A generous 5/10.

Okay Netflix, I see you. I've bagged them and the quality of their films for a while now. But then they go and release something like 'Kinda Pregnant' and totally redeem themselves. There is nothing better than a genuinely funny R-Rated comedy and that is exactly what this is.
I don't remember laughing this consistently throughout a movie in a long time. Amy Schumer in the lead role is great, but also the cast she has surrounded herself with all bring the goods. A special shout out to New Zealander Urzila Carlson (who I didn't know was going to be in this), who steals every scene she is in and is the highlight of the movie.
The only fault I would point out is that the concept isn't quite strong enough to push the full 95 minutes and it does run out of steam just a little towards the end. Otherwise though, this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and a rare Netflix film I would highly recommend. 8.5/10.

There are going to be a lot of films made about Trump over the next 50 years. This one is a pretty good jumping off point.
The acting is the real highlight here though. Sebastian Stan as Trump nails it. It would be an easy role to over-act with, but he does a great job of keeping the role as subtle as he can. But time and again you'll be saying to yourself: oh, that was so Trump. Jeremy Strong is also fantastic and the two play off each other superbly throughout the film.
The film moves at a good click with snappy dialogue. The tone stays pretty even throughout, but the 2 hour run time never feels like it is dragging. All in all, for what this is, I thought it was a pretty decent effort. 8/10.
