The Black Phone
(2021)

Language so unnecessary
Children constantly swearing, including the F-bomb, is ridiculous. This movie could have been better without the language. It added nothing to the movie but rather took away from it. Stopped watching.

Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris
(2022)

Sweet Movie
Mrs. Harris has a dream, and she pursues it through set backs. She is a nice person who does kind deeds for others, even to the point of great sacrifice. With a happy ending, this film leaves viewers with smiles on their faces.

The Philadelphia Story
(1940)

Needs a little less talk and a lot more actiom
My friends and I watched this movie last night, and we cannot understand why this movie is so highly rated. The plot was slow and boring. Sometimes the dialogue was erratic and didn't make sense. The acting was well done, but the talent was wasted on a coma-inducing story. I left the DVD at the resort for the next victim.

Perfect on Paper
(2014)

Devil Wears Prada Look-Alike
From the scenes, characters, the plot, down to the music, this movie is so much like The Devil Wears Prada. Very unoriginal.

Instant Family
(2018)

Unnecessary Bad Language and Crude Humor
The movie definitely has some funny and touching moments, but the crudeness and foul language ruined it for me.

Christmas Grace
(2013)

Good Message, Awful Acting, Some False Concepts About God
The message of this movie -- our gracious and merciful behavior towards others -- is refreshing. However, the acting is so awful that it makes watching painful and difficult.

The most concerning element of this movie are the false concepts about God. First, God does not "put things in our heart." He does not tell us specifically what to do apart from His Word. We base our decisions and actions on what God has told us in His word, the Bible. Second, we don't become saved or followers of Christ simply by saying a prayer. No where in the Bible do we see that. The concept that we need to trust God is true, so the film at least got that right.

The movie emotes a lot of emotional fluff without substance. What a disappointment.

Merry Kissmas
(2015)

NOTHING ABOUT THIS IS REAL LOVE
This movie is a great misrepresentation of real love. Enjoying a kiss does not make you "fall in love." That's lust....or desire. If Kayla is going to love Dustin, she should love him because he's a kind, decent human being and DEMONSTRATES love towards her. Love is an action - not words. So when Kayla begins to question the end of her relationship with her fiance simply because of the way "he sounded" when he said "I love you," she is clueless. Her fiance treats her like dirt. That's not love.

Anne of Green Gables
(2016)

Horrible, boring, and poor acting
Positively horrible! I adored the 1985 version and couldn't imagine a better version. I was right. The acting seems so contrived. The lines are delivered quickly with little emotion. The newer version is so rushed that it is more like a Cliff Notes version of the story. The plot is just snapshots thrown together, giving viewers no time to digest what is happening or to become emotionally invested.

The actors: The young man who plays Gilbert is not as adorable and refined as the late Jonathan Crombie, and Martin Sheen does not exhibit the same adoration for Anne that Richard Farnsworth did. Ella playing Anne is unbelievable whereas Follows became Anne of Greene Gables.

I will stick with the 1985 version.

War Room
(2015)

Movie's Portrayal of Prayer is Faulty
Prayer is necessary and powerful; however, God doesn't always say "yes" to our prayers. This movie portrays prayer as the answer to getting what you want. Sometimes bad things happen, and there is nothing we can do about it. Sometimes we are stuck in bad situations, and God allows us to remain there, perhaps to teach us trust and dependence on Him.

The best part of the movie is the relationship between the young wife and the elderly woman, although she was over the top at times, especially at the end. The Scriptures instruct older women to teach younger women, and this is what Miss Clara was doing.

I rate this movie one star because it gives viewers the false hope that prayer will make all their problems go away.

Blended
(2014)

Movie Had Potential, but Unnecessary Garbage Ruined It
This movie could have been cute and sweet, but there were so many unnecessary attempts to attract the teen crowd -- at least I'm guessing that's the age group targeted. Children using foul language is not "cute" or humorous. Seeing animals copulating added no value to the story line, nor did the focus on the masturbating 15-year old. And what kind of mother buys her son a porn magazine because she "violated" her son's "privacy" by looking under his bed and tearing up a pin-up poster?

The story had many sweet moments. Too bad Hollywood couldn't be content with that.
