I don't get it: the book had such a great story. The characters and relationships were very well written and developed. The actions and sequences were logical and made sense. A lot of research went into the book. Reading it, I almost felt like watching a movie.

They just had to stick to the book.

I understand that movies have to make shortcuts. But for one: this is a series, so they would have had enough time to tell the story as it should have been told.

And secondly, some shortcuts don't make sense at all. They also left crucial characters out of the film. And to make things worse: they created NEW stories instead which are just ridiculous and pathetic. The 2 children who stayed in the train (why?) and of course met a psycho, the people trapped in the amusement park...

IF you change the book and create new stories, then they better be good.

I cannot recommend it.

Hopefully someone will create a better version of this book. Tom Hanks would be an awesome choice for the main character :-)

This is art.

From the very first moment, I was drawn into the story, the pictures, the atmosphere.

It is exceptional, intelligent storytelling from the introduction to the credits of the final episode.

Every picture, every detail is crafted. Every actor a perfect fit. The whole team has done an amazing job.

I haven't experienced such a mind teaser since Dark (a series, by the way, everyone who likes Severence should watch).

And I can't wait to watch the second season.

Season 2 started promising. Starfleet seemed to be Starfleet again, the cliffhanger of episode 1 was intriguing.

Now, after 9 episodes, it is clear what is very wrong with this concept: It doesn't tell meaningful stories as TNG did. It's just cool time and space travel plus some action.

That's not Star Trek.

Where is the moral? Where are the meaningful stories that have a message?

TNG told us great stories in one or sometimes two episodes. This season needs 10 episodes, has no moral to tell and way too many filler episodes.

Unfortunately it turned out to be a mess such as Season 1 did. I don't recognize the characters, neither Picard nor Q. And the story of Picards mother is unnecessary (and they forgot about his brother Robert...).

Waiting for the final episode that concludes this season.

It is good to see that real Starfleet may be back. The creators did a great job at building on top of season 1 but also seem to have fixed some problems with season one and return to the values of TNG.

It's a bit too early to tell, because the first season also started strong and quickly evolved into a dystopian nightmare with - unnecessary - violence and gore (dear creators ans directors: Star Trek is NOT Game of Thrones in space!!).

I hope this is the road not taken in season one, bringing back the TNG feeling and episodes that have a story to tell.

The first episode was a great start! The actors work together more harmoniously, the speed of telling is right, Starfleet seems to be back on track and the cliffhanger with Q is top notch.

The start and the idea were very promising: how far do desperate humans go to acquire money, how fast can "civilized" people become murderers only because they are told what to do: according to the rules of "the game".

I especially like the idea that the players were perhaps just naïve and innocent in the beginning but then made a conscious decision to join the game and therefore accepting the rules. The victims become offenders.

The series seems and is very brutal. But you can see many parallels to many war crimes that have happened over and over again in concentration camps, war prisons, purges.

Unfortunately, the plot and the ending seem incomplete. Also the acting was not always good. And what happened to the translation and subtitles? Very often they say complete different things and sometimes they don't make sense at all.

I am not sure yet, if the series should end after season 1 or if it needs a conclusion.

This show has good special effects, and Michael Burnham finally got an upgrade for her haircut. These are the only good things I can say about this show.

I don't know where to begin, so let me just list a couple of negatives..

• This show is overly dramatic.
• The writing is really bad.
• It is filled with action and noise instead of meaning
• I don't connect to the crew. Not at all.
• Who was that crew member who could stop breathing for minutes (and tells you just before it becomes relevant)? I don't even remember now, because she was not important, the focus was on Michael only
• It's as black and white as Star Wars. There are good guys and there are bad guys.
• It is supposed SCIENCE fiction. What happened to science?
• The burn and the spore drive are the most ridiculous concepts I've ever heard in science fiction.
• Humanitarianism and logic both seem to be obsolete ('look, - I forget the name - took a space walk without a suit'. Seriously?? Seeing somebody die is now a reason to make jokes??)
• Michael Burnham is a cheap version of Bruce Willes in Die Hard.

Remember Star Trek The Next Generation? It had a CREW. Every episode had its own story to tell. It has a message. There was no need for meaningless action scenes or dramatic music.

This show has no meaning, the episodes have no moral and worst of all they have no story to tell.

It's not 'cool' its just stupid and meaningless. Please stop wasting money on it and stop insulting our intelligence.

Seth McFarlane and the team have done a wonderful job of taking the best elements of Star Trek, lighten it up with a little comedy and telling stories that are entertaining and relevant at the same time.

Where Star Trek has become a dystopia, a dark vision of the future with unlikeable characters (especially discovery) and a focus on action and visual effects instead of great stories, the Orville focusses on what matters and really goes where no man has gone before.

This show should be called Star Trek: Orville. It's more Star Trek than anything else out there right now. And I mean it in the most positive way.

I don't like where this show is headed. There is Too much unnecessary violence. Beheading? Showing a person's eye getting ripped out? What's wrong with the creators?

Star Trek has always been about telling a positive vision of the future. Episodes had a moral, they had a STORY to tell.

Episodes like the inner light, the first duty, even family reunion. They all told a story, each of them had a message.

This show is just a dark vision of the future.

And I must say: I don't enjoy watching this anymore.

Police officer tries to save his daughter in a foreign country and city - heard this story before?

This movie tries to imitate a professional blockbuster movie but the plot is so bad and acting of some actors / actresses is even worse, that one can barely watch it to the end.

One star for the scenery of Istanbul which is really nice.
