A Million Miles Away
(2023)

By far the Best movie I've seen in a while!
This movie quickly attracted my attention and didn't let go! An excellent combination of true to life characters! Michael Pena did an outstanding job as Jose, as did Rosa Salazar. Although Bobby Soto, Beto's, part was small, his contribution made the story flow smoothly. The writers also deserve a Lot of Credit, the emotion that I felt was at times was very moving. I also loved the comedy built in to it. Jose's perseverance and Love of his roots along with the plight of the Farm Works that comes to the forefront. I expect this movie to get world wide attention, as it is a large part of Americana!

Princess Ka'iulani
(2009)

This is a movie about the Real History of Hawaii
I have seen where there is a lot of bad reviews and I believe its mainly because the Americans and British were the villains' here. And it is quite true! The Americans using their military might to overthrow the Legitimate government and to take control of the Hawaiian islands. It was basically a repeat of what the Europeans did to the indigenous Native Americans, but at a smaller scale.

The scenery was awesome, Hawaii is such a beautiful state, even with volcanos! And the movie pretty much sticks to the History of the Islands! The young lady who played the Queen did it quite well. She made it very emotional for me. If learning history doesn't make you uncomfortable, you're doing it wrong.

The Harimaya Bridge
(2009)

What a wonderful movie!
It has a beautiful story which slowly captured my attention. I had never felt the Japanese were friendly towards Americans, especially after hearing stories form uncles who fought the Japanese in WWII. In this story Mickey a young American finds a world where he is accepted and loved as he teaches art to his students.

After Mickey's death his father, who acts rudely to the very accepting Japanese, arrives in Japan to acquire the belongings of his son only to find more than he was prepared to find.

The actors were exceptional, with a small part for Danny Glover! Hard to believe that this movie hasn't gotten more Awards/recognition!

Cinderella
(2021)

Loved it!
First of all I am a fan of Musicals! Yes the story line was a little different, but that's what made it very interesting. Billy Porter as the Godmother was hilarious as were the three mice, especially James Corden. Definitely something enjoyable for the whole family!

Losing in Love
(2016)

Just Awesome!
It has been a while sense I have seen such a beautiful movie! The movie clicks in all categories, story, actors and etc. It didn't take me long to fall in love with the movie and compelled to finish all in one night. To me this is Oscar grade!

Dunkirk
(2017)

Sorry this is not Oscar caliber!
The acting was good, noting against the actors. The scenes seemed to drag on for ever. I had to replay some of the scenes to understand what they were saying. It really needed subtitles! This is NOT of the caliber of "Saving Private Ryan" no where no way!

Perlasca: Un eroe italiano
(2002)

Totally Awesome
I am so totally in awe of the movie I would first like to start by thanking the people at NETFLIX for making this, and other similar, movies available to its viewers. The performance of the cast created a lot of emotion in me, I especially liked Luca Zingaretti and the Nazi officers. BRAVO! The power of the story by Enrico Deagilo kept my attention to the very end. How could have people been so cruel to their very own countrymen? No matter how dire the situation there is always compassionate people, like Perlasca, who are willing to step forward and attempt to correction the situation no matter what it will cost them. I am a big believer in the study of history and believe that those who don't are doomed to repeat it. The music by Ennio Morricone makes the movie even more appealing. This movie should be required viewing by all students in the world getting ready to graduate from high school.

The Hunger Games
(2012)

Excellent satire
This is an excellent satire in the style of Fahrenheit 451. I watched this movie keeping in mind what a friend, who recommended the movie, told me that this what can happen to the USA in the future if Romney and the Republicans get their way. Hell! We already have the Hunger games they are called the Iraq and Afghanistan War. The acting was well done and the cinematography could have been better. I didn't mind the wobbly camera action. The movie did hold my attention the hold time. Stanley Tucci was cool, sort of reminded me of The Fifth Element. Woody Harrelson and Donald Sutherland were quite believable a usual. I didn't read the book but definitely plan on checking it out.
