Man of Steel (2013)

After seven year of the last movie that unfortunately was not well taken we have another one about the most powerful and greatest superhero of all time SUPERMAN... This movie is good, entertaining but it's not as super as the name of the hero, but still works very great. They are telling the story from the beginning and they show us the world Krypton as we have never seen it before and i can tell it WAS AMAZING and is the moment where we can really appreciate flawless effects after that they are just good, I loved the intro of the film, they gave the opportunity to introduce people to the world in ruins that saw the man of steel born. Its a movie with a looooot of action, destruction and pain, it has more destruction than any other superhero film. The performances are great, specially from Russell Crowe and the kid that play the little clark, unfortunately the only weak performance was from Henry Cavill but I know that is not a problem because he is the hottest actor that has ever play superman. I'm big fan of superman and I know how hard can be to introduce him to our world because we don't have the same mentality that people used to have in the 70's and he is not the cool, milliner, playboy, sarcastic guy, like Tony Stark (Iron Man) or Bruce Wayne (Batman), he is the most humble, honest and the sweetest guy ever but they made a pretty good job making the film looks darker and making the character more human, more adaptable to our times and they make him even kill but only to save humans and at the same time they make him more sad but it mach with the story they are telling, there is more action than drama and is not a movie to get stimulated mentally but still works and you get everything at is finest. I didn't like the shaky effect that they gave to the film sometimes, that was totally unnecessary but the costume of him and the Kryptonians as well were "mind-blowing" and impossible to not love them. If you haven't seen this film you have to go NOW...

The Great Gatsby (2013) This is a drama and "romance" film base in the famous novel of Scott Fitzgerald from 1925 and is the 5th film adaptation. (BTW this is my first disappointment of the year when it comes to movies I was waiting). This is about the obsession of a millionaire man (Gatsby) with a married woman (Daisy) that he meet long time ago. The film is too long for nothing, it has a poor super poor screenplay, the conversations are so silly and repetitive that is boring, the only part I can say I still remember about the screenplay is when they said "big parties are more private than the small ones" but you don't see the growing love between characters at all, they just "feel" somehow. When you see the trailer you are expecting something flawless but unfortunately it's too much sometimes, I feel no sense of "class or style" in the direction because we lose so much in all this close ups and up and down shoots but at the same time it was full of beauty thanks to all the beautiful cloth and great fashion style, the music was PERFECT but you are in two different worlds almost every time a song was played. The first 25 minutes of performances was too melodramatic something is not that good because it doesn't feel real at all, but after Leonardo DiCaprio appear suddenly everyone start acting normal and really GOOD, when it comes to acting he was the great about "the great Gatsby", also I'm really please with Tobey Maguire because he did a pretty good job. The movie is average at least and that is because of the great cast and the great costumes but not more.

Beautiful Creatures (2013)

This is a "drama", romance and very fantasy movie about a girl with powers (like witch) that fall in love with a "mortal" and has to face the truth about her family and her own destiny. The film is entertaining, is definitely a "flick chick" not too much action scenes, nothing special in the drama, but with an average romance between this teenagers. The movie was compare to the "Twilight Saga" only with the rolls invert but this film has a little more quality and it reminds me more to the movie "the Covenant" just a female version. The story is promising somehow and if they do a second part it has hope to be great, and not just "OK" like this one, but I didn't get bored at any second and I enjoy the characters, not painful performances at least, the only thing that I can't describe really good is how I feel with the southern accent of the main characters if it was "cute" or "annoying" or maybe just a mix of both things.

Evil Dead (2013) I'm not a big fan of horror films this days because mostly of them are really bad, but I have to admit that this one is good and very entertaining. The effects are really good, the performances are OK, but what I like the most is the plot and the way they present it to us, because it has a purpose, is not only a group of kids doing nothing in a forest, is not scary but is defiantly DISGUSTING, if you don't have a strong stomach don't watch it, because this film is in another level of nasty and gross. Is not only ugly is also funny but not in a pathetic way it's in a sarcastic way, of course people that don't believe in this kind of "satanic" things are going to find some "silly" parts. I loved the end, I wasn't expecting that at all because is always the stupid girl crying but this time we have a "bitch" with attitude so I enjoyed the film. BTW the movie is about a group of friends that go to an old forest house (they own the place) to try to help one of the girls that is a drug addict but long time ago some people made a "ritual thing" there so they found a book and the curios one open it and set free a evil spirit. This movie is a remake of Evil Dead from 1981.

The Help (2011)

Definitely a great movie about a writer telling the point of view of the African-American maids who works for white people in the 1960. I think the only problem with this was the begging because it was a little bit slow, but this is an excellent drama with a twist of comedy sometimes, is brilliant and really good, the performances are beyond perfection, a clever screenplay and the plot will "touch" your heart (or maybe teach you something) after seeing a little bit of what people pass in the past just for be black but also the love others can show even when they don't have to.

Dos mas Dos (Two plus Two) (2012)

This is an Argentine comedy about 2 couples introducing to the swinger movement. The film is just "entertaining" they could do more with this topic but they didn't, the movie is predictable, always the same, nothing fresh, nothing new, with some "ok" performances and others just too trashy, for be a comedy is not that funny. If you enjoy "soup opera" you will enjoy this more than I did, it was just what I was expecting, nothing big, just something lame in the most of the aspect. But you will learn that you can NOT make any type of business with friends; that is always a bad idea, especially sex.

Tengo Ganas De ti (I Want You) (2012) This is the Sequel of Tres Metros Sobre el Cielo (Three Steps above Heaven), here you will find a different story because now they grow up and are living separate life , she has BF and hi a new girl, so this is about what happen after your first love. This is better than the first one because is more mature and the performances are more believable, but I have to say I didn't like the new girl too much. When I finished the film I start thinking that this movie is not exactly a love story about a couple, this is the love life of the male main character because here you have the new story of him with the new girl and he been hunting by the memories of his first love. This is definitely better than 3MSC and also very contemporary story.

Both movies have a real message at the end. 1- When something is broken it would never be the same. & 2- You need two committed people to make a relationship work.

Tres Metros Sobre el Cielo (Three Steps above Heaven) (2010)

This is a drama/romance movie about two teenagers that fall in love, the typical story with the cute good girl and the hot bad guy, they live different life but they still go out together and discover the "magic" of the first love. The movie is cute sometimes with a few action scenes mix with romance but is not more than that, is just average in all senses (performances, screenplay, direction etc) but it has a touch of reality about what is love this days (is a contemporary story); at the end it will show you the "real world" of "love". This movie can be sometimes a little bit annoying and childish but still entertaining.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010) OMG the best movie, say no one EVER -_- … Another awful movie about this "thing" at least this was a little entertaining and I didn't fell asleep like a almost did in "New Moon" but that doesn't make it a good film, is horrible, the direction, the effects are bad and PLEASE those hair style COME ON, are you kidding me? O.O is ridiculous. I know they are supposed to be dead but they don't need to look so bad -.- and I'm not going to talk about the performances because is the same thing we see in the last two movies… But like I said: I didn't fell asleep they show some action and that was "cool"…

I said I wasn't going to see this movie, but I did and I liked it (hahaha) I don't know if the category is comedy or crime, I think is more a bloody action movie with some funny s***t in it. Is not the funniest film I watched but it definitely have some good parts, it was entertaining. I didn't want to see this movie because when I first listen the plot about 7 crazy people that steal dogs and blah blah I was expecting a stupid film and it is (-_-) but it has a cool story, more than one but they mixed very well all of them and make something good here, the performances are really good and believable with a good screenplay.

Dredd (2012) This is a pure action movie, I'm not a big fan of this category but I have to say that this was really good, if you want to see bloody action this is a film you definitely need to watch, but is more than shooting scenes, while all this action is happening they explain everything (not too much but at least the necessary): Why? How? Who? Where? When? Etc… The effects are good and the details in the slow scenes are awesome, I have to say that Karl Urban (Dredd) did and amazing job, he never takes off his helmet but just with his voice and his body language he catch your attention, I like "rookie" the mutant that go with Dredd because she was a little scare and insecure first but in the end she wins attitude and that was cool, the actress do a nice job bringing her to live in this film. This is definitely an entertaining movie I enjoyed very much.

Another comedy trying to be "romantic" is an average film about a girl chasing her boyfriend to propose him in February 29th (leap year*the only original thing in the film*) and while doing that she magically falls in love with an asshole that is just damage because someone hurt him before (but of course she sees the cute side of him). Instead of trying to make us like more the story of these two they where focus too much in trying to be so funny that sometimes was a little bit stupid. I can say that the plot start to interesting me in the last 30 minutes, when they finally start to get along and the name of the movie must have been superstitions or something like that because they spend more time talking about bad luck and silly things than another thing in the whole film. At least the actress is really pretty, is a nice cast with good performances (not all of course), the main characters have a good chemistry together doing their stupid fights and they play really good love songs in the film.

What can I say about this biography and drama movie?

A lot of things maybe, but one word can described this: MASTERPIECE, Steven Spielberg is a genius as director but Tony Kushner made a perfect screenplay OMG. If you know something about American history you would know how this story will go, but the thing is that they present this in such a magnificent way that is impossible to not fell attracted to this piece of art. All the actors made an excellent job in their performances but if I could I will give to Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln) and Sally Field (Ms. Lincoln) a standing ovation.
