Ms. Marvel
(2022)

Started slow but got good
I wasn't that into the first couple of episodes but it definitely got less frenetic and more interesting. I just wish we could all see some genuine user reviews. I feel like the "anti-woke" crowd will just completely trash everything in a disingenuous way...best way to tell is if a review contains "I wanted to like this..." or "I loved---insert movie with non-white or female lead here" but continues to leave a rating under 4 for something that obviously isn't on that level. Audible sigh.

Enhanced
(2019)

Love the captain with general's rank.
Very confusing when the senior officer keeps getting called captain or major but is wearing general rank in random places on his uniform. Jeez, one Google search could've fixed that. A hallmark of a half-baked effort.

Ella Enchanted
(2004)

How can you not love it
If you don't get the snark disguised as cheesiness, I feel for you. A great soundtrack and fun performances with caricatures for all the parts makes it unique while still keeping the fairytale ending

Girls Just Want to Have Fun
(1985)

Cheesy fun
Cool kids, third rate songs, 80s teenage hijinks with funny characters and a great comeuppance wrapped in a dance finale. What more could a girl want?

Mulan
(2020)

Calm down incels
I love how all the reviews here are much Much like all reviews by incels. They lay out why they don't like the movie line by line, with great justifications, but when you get down to it, it's all about hating the concepts of girl power and a woman being the star. This was well scripted, acted, and had great action scenes. No there's no funny dragon side character, because this is a live action movie. It's a new take, and take it as such. Highly recommend.

Black Christmas
(2019)

Male snowflakes
This happens to any movie with a feminist message or that has the nerve to pur a female lead in a sci-fi or hero movie with a female lead. They end up getting swamped on the message boards and reviews by a bunch of precious little boys who are angry about losing a bit of their privilege. I love how they try to disguise it as a legitimate criticism by naming specific scenes or things they see as flaws, but we all know the truth. This movie was a nice change for a slasher film, and it would be nice if it was actually reviewed for its own merits.

Freaks
(2018)

Starts slow
Starts slow, but definitely worth the wait. Good acting and great action all the way up to the end.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
(2010)

Lightning up
This isn't Shakespeare, but it's fun and playful with likeable characters. It's what I call a "watcher over again." Not sure why all the vitriol from user reviewers, but I will say it's great for a YA movie.

Fear
(1990)

Totally underrated
I like this movie so much that I bought it. I get mad when I see fear on cable on the guide, and it turns out to be the one with Reese Witherspoon. All the psychic troops seem to come from here first. Great acting. Lots of drama with a really great ending. Highly recommend.
