Rome Express
(1932)

Disappointment
Couldn't MacBain have got his comeuppance - say by. Mills getting the directorship he deserved , being publicly exposed or at least falling off the train?

Grease
(1978)

Damn near perfect
Although some of the cast were overage . One of the greatest soundtracks . It showed life as it should have been.and should still be - to hell with the whinging PC! I wish I had been normal.

The Roads to Freedom
(1970)

Just watching it again
I remembered the original and am enjoying the remake. Now being rather amused by French soldiers talking about a United Europe, having been previously amused by that pompous officer! Can hardly blame the soldiers for being demoralised with the kind of leadership they'd had!

Blonde Crazy
(1931)

Just saw for first time
Really good - Cagney the dynamo , Blundell the beauty, Milland the real louse. Confirms the way the Hays Code tore the guts out of the movies- wish one could remake these old movies with today's technology and different endings.

The History of Mr. Polly
(1949)

Nice film.about a nice chap
He wasn't tough enough - hence his misery with Miriam. He was happy to sit back and watch the world go by and I'm glad he ended up basically doing that. I trust he didn't marry the landlady!

The Saint: The Latin Touch
(1962)
Episode 2, Season 1

Two thoughts
One - I'd have been inclined to grant the reprieve and trust to his being kept in jail.

Two - Suzan Farmer "dumpy"? I got her mixed up with Elizabeth Montgomery!

The Raven
(1963)

Hilarious horror comedy
Saw it for first time in decades - better than I remembered. I had a soft.spot for Bedlo - Craven should really have restored him. In fact, pity they couldn't do a sequel.

Get Back
(1992)

Wish it had gone on longer
Ended at the point when things were hotting up. Would Martin and Loretta have ever got back to the top? And what of Jojo in the future? Anyone have any idea what became of the actress who played her?

West Side Story
(2021)

Just saw it.
The original was better in every way. It even looked better. All changes were for the.worse. You can't improve on perfection so why try?

I admit to being glad that there doesn't seem to have been any dubbing this time.

On the Up
(1990)

Neither bad nor great
Curious as to how they get together in the first place. Sorry for Stephanie in that I don't approve of boarding schools but couldn't resist wondering - Tony once lost his temper and spanked his wife. How come he restrained himself with his daughter?

Ridley Road
(2021)

Not a bad series
Or really accurate historically. There was never any kind of political threat from the likes of Colin Jordan as his electoral performances later proved. Nor did the NSM ever have many members. And in no way could Rockwell have been described as a respected politician !

Nor did Jordan.have any children .

The Real Charlie Chaplin
(2021)

Just saw it
Excellent and revealing documentary with things I'd never come across before. Especially the FBI allegation that he was a homosexual!

He was a genius who brought pleasure to the world . That more than.makes up for any faults he may have had offscreen.

Little House on the Prairie: School Mom
(1974)
Episode 9, Season 1

Just one observation
If Mrs. Ingalls had washed any child of mine's mouth out, I'd have done something very drastic to her. Mrs Oleson as a teacher would have been - interesting!

Little House on the Prairie: Troublemaker
(1976)
Episode 17, Season 2

Remember it
Unfortunately there were all too many Applewoods around then - and will be whenever they're allowed to use corporal punishment at their own discretion.

Grange Hill: Episode #4.8
(1981)
Episode 8, Season 4

Nasty
Miss Lexington to Duane. Couldn't she have told Bullet to shoot himself or something?

Albion Market
(1985)

6Genuine query
Don't remember it very well.but didn't Malcolm Hebden play a character named Oliver Shawcross? I got £3 for a letter in the Daily Star suggesting Helen Shapiro's Viv as Den's new lover in East Enders.

Ships with Wings
(1941)

Escapist fun
I doubt the historical accuracy but it wasn't supposed to be a documentary! Just good action packed adventure movie .

I still say Dick shouldn't have let Celia turn his head!

Value for Money
(1955)

Just saw it
And enjoyed it. Would like to see films like it today - especially with the colour they used then. Looking at the blokes' wives I don't blame them for chasing showgirls!

Upstairs, Downstairs: The Sudden Storm
(1974)
Episode 13, Season 3

Excellent episode
Slightly unconvincing in that I believe that James would have supported the "Belfast crowd" in real life. Oh - in the first series it was said that Mrs. Bridges was a widow. In this episode that she'd never been married- Mrs was just a courtesy title.

Genevieve
(1953)

Deserves all the praise it's had
Immortal comedy almost impossible to fault. Britain not as it is, perhaps not as it was - but as it should be! Who knows - perhaps it may be some day? Beautiful pleasant friendly people devoid of spite or nastiness.

Passport to Pimlico
(1949)

Classic ealing comedy
As a libertarian Conservative, I was naturally on the rebels' side. The Whitehall spoilsports should have left one district of free enterprise in a sea of socialism; to me spivs were heroes of free enterprise.

Jitterbugs
(1943)

Past their best
They weren't as good as they'd been but still better than any other double act. This film was too plot heavy but held my attention for at least an hour and made me laugh. What more could one want from a comedy? They should definitely have been put into an MGM musical.

Robin Hood
(2018)

Stick to Errol.Flynn
Or Richard Greene Richard Todd Patrick Bergin Kevin Costner ..but avoid this PC rubbish best described as Edward D. Wood with CGI! As for the costumes and dialogue... Any connection between this film and.any kind of historical reality is purely coincidental !

Sons of the Desert
(1933)

Their absolute best
Couldn't have been better! Felt sorry for Ollie having a nagging shrew of a wife. One.thing I'd like to know - why were neither they or.any of their films ever.nominated for Oscars?

Would have liked to see a sequel with Charlie visiting his sister!

Man Alive: Six of the Best
(1967)
Episode 51, Season 2

Just saw clip on timeshift
Would rather like to know what became of that appalling Lavery family!
