The worst thing you can ever say about a sequel is that it would interest only those who watched the original; and, even then, only because of nostalgia. This production is a day late and a dollar short. O'Connor -- who did such a brilliant job with WARRIOR 2011 -- seems to have kept this script in his back pocket, waiting perhaps for a slow career day when pickings were slim. Combine that with a folksy vibe to the story that totally veers off course from the original, and you are left with a swing ... and a miss. ((Designated "IMDb Top Reviewer." 1. Series 01 was already on my list of all-time best movies and shows, series 02 exceeds that baseline. 2. When one person goes to the time and trouble of leaving an individual review for a single episode of anything, you know something is up. When dozens of people do that, you know something extraordinary has happened. Reminds me of the 2011 Bob Joyce Bentons/Dentons candid vid, with 2 million views -- unfortunately you have to be of a certain age to fully get that. 3. One of the most perfect pieces of entertainment I have ever seen. 4. Even the professor's song was unforgettable, I captured it for my car player. 5. Wow. ((Designated "IMDb Top Reviewer." They say that the art of a period reflects the mood of the people at that time. If this is true, we are as a civilization in very sorry shape. If you take all the western TV shows of the 1950s, and also all the western movies of that period, and feed the resulting stew to the AI of your choice, and then ask the AI to plot the baseline morality of the mixture, you will learn that your forebears of the last century had hope for a better tomorrow. If you do the same with the westerns of today, this show for example, or even Taylor Sheridan's 1923, your AI will tell you that such shows are created by a people, a civilization, without hope. Gilpin's character, in particular, starts the series as the Poster Gal for making bad choices. As good as this series is technically, watching it unfold may prove to be just another bad choice.
