Wes Craven's Scream from the 1990s that revitalised the horror genre is now given a reboot.

Well this is a part sequel to the earlier movies. Teenager Tara Carpenter (Jenny Ortega) gets menacing phone call where she talks about her favourite slasher movies as well as the Stab franchise.

Then Ghostface suddenly appears and Tara just about survives the ordeal.

Then her estranged sister Sam (Melissa Barrera) arrives in town with her new boyfriend Richie (Jack Quaid.) She explains to Tara why she departed the town some years earlier.

Her secret is that Sam's real father had some links to the original Ghostface killings.

It leads Sam to contact the people that earlier dealt with Ghostface many years earlier. Cop Dewey Riley (David Arquette), n Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and Gale Riley (Courteney Cox.)

The fun here is the meta angle of movie franchises and the mechanics of the horror genre.

The directors poke fun at sequels and reboots. Obsessive fans who are always disappointed with new spins on old movies they loved. It is noticeable that Scream does retread much of the earlier movies but this lacked some of the corny humour.

  • The Wrong Stuff

Some billionaires are training to be astronauts at a private space training facility.

There is some needle between paint billionaire Neal Dorsey (Rob Riggle) and green energy billionaire Gavin Morrissey (Jason Babinsky.) There is name calling and Randy one of the son's joins in with the mocking.

This causes Neal to slip a lithium battery when Gavin enters a training capsule known as the vomit bucket. The capsule explodes.

Elsbeth quickly realises that Neal gets annoyed when he is called 'Snoozer.' Something his own son Randy calls him in contempt.

There was a nice early switcheroo in the episode as Randy turns out to be Neal's son and not Gavin's. Randy is enthralled by the green energy initiative.

Rob Riggle is very subtle in hiding id dismay, but plenty of indication that when he talks about paints. He could bore the pants of anyone.

I did wonder how the inhaler battery could cause the explosion.

Kath and Randy's secret is out in the open. Not helped that Mrs Mepstead gossips about Kath liking both her sons to Mrs Mayall at the launderette.

While Kath tries to sneak a quick kiss from Randy. Shorty opens the door and accidentally slams it on her. She is knocked senseless.

Mrs Mepstead calls her boys for help. The machines in the launderette are playing up. As they pop down to see what is up, Mrs Mayall blurts out the truth about Kath and Randy kissing.

Under pressure from the launderette owner. Shorty loses his rag and water splurts out everywhere making everything into a soapy bubble as the water mixes with the detergent.

A funny episode with a lot of physical comedy. That is very much David Jason's forte. The dark undercurrent of the show is still there. Three of the four main characters pulling the wool over Lofty's eyes.

Although his mum did mention he could not see what was plain in front of his nose.
