Move over, we have a new hero. And we can feel his pain, running red in his veins. From the word 'Go', we are catapulted into an an revenge frenzy with heart. A smart action movie, about a man who almost considers himself dead, when his boy fatally gets caught in a cross fire. Between two warring scum gangs. For our hero getting involved, it costs his voice box. What I like in this awesome revenge film, we really feel what he's really feeling, and why he's doing what he's doing. Woo woos again in a plentitude of exciting action at breakneck pace. We also have really good dramatic performances. We really cheer on the good guy and highly await, the revenge he'll dish out. The next 24'th Dec angle I REALLY LIKE too. The day of execution, and a beautifully appreciative ode as to his wife. The action movie really works on a realistic and understanding plane. Some nice flashbacks of better times, with now, a man, crazily revenge obsessed, (the highest I've ever seen in film) severing everything around him. A one man plan of determined vengeance, well executed. Plan to see this one. Don't let it slip by.
Dorothy Stratten was a name I remembered vividly, not just for what she was, but more for the tragedy, that befell her: her demise, and it was a brutal one, topped off by her obsessive boyfriend ex manager biting the bullet. It was quite a bloody murder suicide. Like Lenny, this real life tale, goes back and forth, Roberts stealing every scene. Mariel is great too as Dorothy. Almost unrecognizable and perfect for the parts, she exudes beauty, charm, and innocence. We follow her humble beginning, to her quick rise to stardom. Roberts, a leech and slightly sleazy promoter/manager was an interesting character, and this film had some frank sleazy nudity I liked. His loser Paul Snider character really came through. Cliff Robertson was really good too as playboy Hugh Heffner. He definitely sold the part. The last gripping scene was beautiful as it horrific. Watch this, at least for Roberts. Engaging well told drama, of course, not as good as Lenny, but definitely good.
Bruce Boxleitner, remember him. He was a cool action hero in this 80's show called Bring Em' Back Alive. Well, he's another kind of hero here, in a not too bad action yarn, as a revenge seeking marine, out to take down a young sicko photographer boyfriend, of his beautiful daughter, responsible for her accidental murder. Boxleitner pretty much took a disliking to him, straight off the bat. Now seething, as the killer is granted diplomatic immunity, Boxleitner, must become someone else and enter Paraquay, where he bumps heads with an old work rival (Robert Forster) and why am I not surprised to see him in this, while also making him out for a bad guy. Intuition. Now with a fake id, and needing hard armour, who should be selling it, good guy Drago, who teams up to take down twisted loverboy, and twisted family. Not a bad action fare, a little patchy, and there is better out there, but give this one a view, with a different cast hero, who carries the film, so cool and deadly. Creepy smiling Drago is a another asset. Meg Foster as loverboy's twisted stepmother, is also a curiosity.
