Charlie Chan at the Circus
(1936)

I liked this movie
This was a fun movie. It was like most of Charlie Chan movies. I wish I could buy it. On VHS or DVD. It doesn't matter. Charlie takes the whole family to the circus and as usual there is a murder and Charlie & at least one of his children get involved. His children look like steps starting from the oldest to the youngest. They are all there. Even his wife is with them. It is a fun movie to watch like all of the Charlie Chan movies are. It is fun seeing all of the animals. and the acts. Charlie and Mrs. Chan have to try & keep all of the children in sight & safe. They are a hand full. Charlie has to figure out who the killer is while he is keeping his family safe. It's been a while since I have seen this movie. I wish TCM would have a Charlie Chan movie day.

A Death in Canaan
(1978)

He didn't do it
First of all I don't believe Peter killed his mother. She was alive when he left with his friend to play in the band. If I remember correctly in the movie his friend picked him up & either saw the mother or heard her say good by. Peter did not hate his mother. The police were just all over him. He had no one with him when they were questioning him. He had no lawyer, no friends or family member with him. They questioned him for hours. He was just a kid. They had no right talking to him with out a lawyer or some one with him. He was scared & upset. He had just found his mothers body. He had no father. In fact he didn't even know who his father was. He was lucky that he had people that cared for him & stood up for him.

Ebbie
(1995)

I liked this movie
I love this movie. I watch it every year at Christmas. I am a All My Children fan but I started watching this movie before I even started to watch AMC. Scrouge is a woman and the other people are all women. A Christmas Carol from a female view. Ebbie has a very mean father & her older sister tires to take care of here when life at home is really bad.

Ebbie goes to work for a couple who own their own dept. store & she works her way up until she gets to the point where this store is her whole life. She takes it away from the owners & she because Scrouge.

When the spirits come to visit her she can see everything she has done wrong & decides to do her best to fix everything.

This all takes place in modern America

Tiny Tim is there. Ebbie makes her assistant work on Christmas day.

Death Becomes Her
(1992)

funny movie
I think this is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Goldie Hawn is great in it. It starts out that Goldie is engaged to Bruce Willis. At this time she is sort of over weight. Then they run into Meryl Streep who is a old friend/enemy of Goldies who always wanted everything that Goldie had so of course she go after him. And of course she is thin. Street & Willis get married and Goldie eats to stop the pain of loosing the man she loves. One day they are invited to a party by Goldie & when they get there and see her, she is thin & very beautiful. So now of course Willis wants her back. So it is a fight to the finish to see who get's him. The only thing is that both of the women have taken something that keeps them young but after a while things start to go wrong. At one point Streep shots Goldie and she is left with this big hole in her body but she can't die. Streep falls down a flight of stairs, break's her neck & her head turns backwards. the make up in the movie in the best. Willis becomes a drunk because he is in such a mess. He use to be a very famous doctor but now he only works on dead bodies. And the women are starting to peel so he is trying to help both of them. But they both hate him. Nothing is going right for any of them.

The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex
(1939)

A Wonderful movie
I loved this movie. It is one of my favorite movies. I have even recorded it twice to be sure that I had a copy of it. Bette Davis is just fantastic. She is Queen Elizabeth. No one else has ever played her better. You can see how hard it was for Elizabeth to survive. She loved the man but no way could she give in to him. He would have taken over as King even thought he was not the king but he was so determined to run the country even tho he had no right. The costume's are beautiful. I can just see how heavy those dresses were & the men wearing tights & bloomers. puffy bloomers. Errol Flynn was great as her lover. Even though it is said that she never had a lover. He is a wonderful actor & works perfect with Bette Davis. This is a 10 point movie. It is going to be on TCM on April 26th. If you have never seen this movie & like this period & or love Bette Davis watch it.

Footsteps in the Fog
(1955)

I thought this was a great movie
Another wonderful Jean Simmons and Stewart Granger movie. It takes place in the early 1900 or late 1800. Granger is married to a very wealthy woman & Simmons is a lowly maid. Granger married this woman only for her money & decides to kill her, which he does. After the funeral he totally takes over the house & the money. But Simmons finds the bottle of rat poison he used to kill his wife. She decides to take advantage of this. She lets him know she found the poison & will keep quite if she can become the house keeper. He figures that this will keep her quite. She doesn't get along at all with the other help. She gets more demanding & he decides to kill her. But instead he killed another girl that he thought was her. She figures this out & now she is really in control.

Those Redheads from Seattle
(1953)

I liked this movie
I really like this movie. It is a good story & has a great cast.

Theresa Brewer has a wonderful voice and I have always liked Agnes Moorehead. All the girls & the mother have red hair except the youngest & she is a blond. The husband/father was killed & they went to Alaska to settle his affairs. He ran the local newspaper & he wrote an item about the local saloon. One of his men killed the father. They find that there is no money. They are in Alaska, totally broke so they all find ways to earn money. Even the youngest sells kittens to help. It is a wonderful musical.

There's the bad guys & the good guys. And each of the girls end up with someone. But Gene Barry plays a bad/good guy.
