Spider-Man: Far from Home
(2019)

Utter garbage
Everything that is wrong with the modern movie. I'm in my early 20s and this week, for the first time I have been watching Spider-Man movies - despite 'Into the Spider-Verse'. This movie was extremely cringe, annoying characters, bad writing, unnatural way of acting, nothing holds any weight to it. It's like a teen sitcom on Disney Channel, making it probably fine for kids and young teens. This is something I have noticed with all MCU movies. Also, I am not a fan of all the Avengers/Iron Man/high tech stuff.

I have also seen the first half of Raimi's Spider-Man and so far I have found it to be a true delight. It seems like much more of a Spider-Man story than Far From Home - and I'm saying this as someone who has never read the comics (only played the 2018 game).

I thought I wasn't a fan of superhero movies, but maybe I need to correct that: I'm not a fan of any MCU movies. They are so Disney - and I'm saying this as a huge Disney and animation fan. But with real life actors, it's just something else I am looking for, and MCU has never provided it.

F Is for Family
(2015)

A decent show at best
This is a decent show at best. There is nothing extraordinary about it. I do like the character progression and that they are not one dimensional, but I don't think it is a very fun family to follow. And the art style and animation is mediocre. It looks bland and uninspirational. The jokes are not that funny.

I do applaud the attempt for creating a more realistic animated sitcom, like Bob's Burgers and also the 70s setting really captures the vibe. It is not a bad show, by all means, and enjoyable to an extent, but it is also nothing outstanding.

Central Park
(2020)

Enjoyable, but not as great as Bob's Burgers
While I am a big fan of the type of humor and art style of Central Park, it is not as funny as Loren Bouchard's original creation Bob's Burgers. It doesn't make it a bad show. I still find it to be enjoyable, but the bar has been set and Central Park can definitely not live up to it.

My main issues are the constant singing. Even for someone who does enjoy it, I think the amount of songs is too high. I also think the characters are not as likeable as in Bob's. The family is not as fun and I am not a fan of the villain, as she really just is a mean woman and there is nothing more to it. I do like the struggle between the family/park ranger and her, however, and how it is weaved together with the background of the episodic story arcs - but the stories on their own are also not as memorable as in Bob's. While I can easily remember some situations the Belcher family got into, it is really hard to remember any fun situations the Tillermans got into. And that, I think, is a big problem for a sitcom.

The detailed background drawings and colour palletes are superb and a real pleasure to the eyes. As I am a fan of Bouchards style, I will be watching all seasons to come, but as Bouchards second creation, it dissapoints in the sense that it is not as great as Bob's Burgers.

Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel
(2021)

Typical Netflix crime documentary
Three points for the slick production and zero points for the content; as with every Netflix documentary, it contains little information spread out over several hours. My advice: go on YouTube and you can hear the whole story within fifteen minutes.

Hoops
(2020)

Boring and perverse show
I watched the first two episodes and almost every scene there is some type of perverse joke, often involving teenagers. None of the jokes are actually funny and the main character is very unlikeable and not to be sympathized with, due to his absurd behavior and lack of morality.

So it does not deserve any stars there, but to be fair the animation is done very well. There are nice colour schemes and very detailed background drawings, so the show is certainly really pretty to look at from an aesthetic point of view. For this I will give it three stars.

I am not going to continue watching it. This type of adult animated sitcom should not receive any praise nor views.
