The 100
(2014)

Changed my mind after a few episodes!
At first I thought such adolescence nonsense to the point of almost turning it off not even a quarter way through the first episode. But something about it kept me watching even though I KNEW it was more target marketed for kids in the 12-18 age group.

I ended up totally binging on it and have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it lol! Even towards the end when it got a super weird and seemingly off theme. It all made sense as it wrapped up. One annoyance is that there are a lot, I mean A LOT of repeating predictable scenes but somehow it added to the enjoyment.

Overall it was a fun series that kept me wanting more! Glad I kept watching as I almost turned it off after 10 minutes!

Thor: Love and Thunder
(2022)

I agree
Totally agree with all the 1, 2, and 3 stars reviews. I really enjoyed all the previous Thor movies... this one was, well lets just say, LAME.

I gave it a good 40 minutes before i walked out. Told my husband I'd go cruise around the art & crafts supply store next door instead. I was thinking to myself, "I must be a stick in the mud" however i realized when walking out the majority of the viewers were teenaged boys and young men so maybe not! I didn't "get" the comedy one bit. Ya... it was lame.

Don't Look Up
(2021)

Yes!
But I almost turned it off as I was underwhelmed for the first oh, 1/3 of the movie.

Glad I didn't! The sarcastic satire (but oh sooooo True!) just didn't feel comedic to me. The outstanding talent as leading roles was a clever way to get more people to pay attention to our climate crisis.

10's of thousands of scientists have been trying to wake us up for decades to no avail. The message here is perfect for whats happening to us now albeit in a slower motion than a big ol comet KA-BOOM. But a very similar outcome...

Most of Earth will be unrecognizable and unlivable In just a matter of a few generations. We've got to listen to the scientists and do what we can NOW. We are like a frog in the pot just before it boils. Must turn off that heat source NOW! Its already too late, change is happening but maybe, just maybe we can halt some of the major catastrophic damage???

Elect your leaders wisely!

The End of the F***ing World
(2017)

Engaged the whole ride!
So glad I didn't turn it off after 1st episode! I was creeped out at the set up and thought it was going to go in to a totally different direction than it did.

So many twists and turns! Romance, thriller, drama, suspense, AND adventure. I felt like I was taken on a ride...emotional and exciting

THANK YOU THANK YOU for giving it a proper ending! I hate it when you're fully engrossed in a great story and the producers decide to give you a BS "open for interpretation" ending.

Emily in Paris
(2020)

What's up with people?!
LOVE IT! I think many of the people who gave bad reviews (the ones saying patronizing) didn't give this show more time. I found it delightful and really enjoy how they are creating a bridge of understanding between French culture and thinking processes and American ways. Lol they too have their snobs.

Not too keen on the casual sex however they are young, it happens in real life. That said, great job on them for sparing us detailed sex scenes, I find them soooooo awkward when watching with other people.

I am not really a RomComDrom kind of gal but it's a really fun change. And of course all the Paris scenes are making me want to hop on a plane. Can't wait for next season!! Thank you Netflix!

Queen & Slim
(2019)

Artful & exquisite
I saw the previews a few weeks ago and thought, "Meh, looks like another political flick, I'll pass." BUT somehow this movie kept popping up on my radar. So glad I experienced it, outstanding film!!!

I felt as if I was a part of their unfair struggle the entire time. Highly recommend. Beautiful yet heart wrenching SAD. Cried hard. GO SEE IT ASAP.

Crown and Anchor
(2018)

FANTASTIC!
Sometimes when you take a chance on a movie with almost zero reviews it pays off in a big way! That's how I feel about Crown and Anchor. The trials and tribulations of this dysfunctional family had my full attention from the get go. Pop shows up near the end and what a flippn' winner this man is. No car chases, sexy women & shoot em ups throughout, rather a gripping experience into the lives and the ramifications of rough people with bad behavior. If you like thriller-suspense-dramas, you'll probably really enjoy this movie.

Desolate
(2018)

Wow! Way better than expected.
Really liked this movie! The epitome of both bad character & people with all the right stuff. Wanted more. It's got one of those endings where you kinda know what the future holds however you just wanna see and experience some of that future! Double thumbs up!!

Prisoners
(2013)

What a ride
Fantastic mystery thriller! Top notch acting. Some of the scenes were so intense they made me jump a few times AND turn my head a few times as well.

The only thing I did not like is they denied us the conclusion!! Hate hate hate that. I mean you pretty much know whats going to happen but they don't let us SEE it. Ugh! Why oh why do they do that? I just don't get "use your imagination" endings! I don't want to use my imagination! I don't go to the movies to use my imagination darn it! lol. I am sitting there yearning and anticipating the final 2 or 3 scenes and then... POOF its done, sigh.

Charlie Zone
(2011)

WOW, Soooo not what I thought!
Honestly, I thought this was going to be a peek at the day in the life of a drug addict whore. Let me tell you, it was far from that! The worst part about this movie was that it was over. Its funny, it did not end when I thought it would and when it finally did conclude, I wanted it to go on and on so that I could see the future lives of the main characters!! This movie has just about everything great films are made of minus humor... but there was really no place for laughs in this journey. It was suspenseful, mysterious and very well acted. It was also painful at times, but in a good way. Give this movie a view... I can't imagine ANYONE not thoroughly enjoying it!

The East
(2013)

Unexpected
After watching some of the trailers for this movie, I assumed it was going to be qua-say Fahrenheit 911 done in a dramatically acted story... I assumed is was a film only for the 99%'er liberal democrat.

Boy was I wrong! AND pleasantly surprised. This film is full of heart and ugly truths delivered brilliantly and beautifully. I particularly enjoyed the side characters as their roles were impact-full to the overall feel one cant help but take away. This film evoked feelings of remorse, gentleness, a sense of being cheated, love, anger and sorrow. Yet it was uplifting and gave me a sense of hopefulness as well.

The only reason I don't give it a full 10 is because I really wanted to see more and more at the end!! Don't get me wrong, its got a great ending... I just wanted MORE!!!
