Paura nella città dei morti viventi
(1980)

A horror classic
A priest hangs himself, opening the Gates of Hell. Can our protagonists close them in time? This taut zombie thriller has guts, which are proudly put on display. The music has a haunting, almost dreamlike quality, laying on a heavy atmosphere of dread. The gore effects are top-notch, as to be expected from Lucio Fulci. With Fulci stalwarts, such as David Warbeck and Catriona delli Colli (Katherine McColl), the acting is on par with other Fulci classics, such as Zombi. The suspense builds to a fiery climax, with an unexpected (and unexplained) twist at the end. If you are a fan of Fulci, or zombies and gore in general, this movie is a must-add to your collection.

A Nightmare on Elm Street
(1984)

Well Crafted
Blurring the line between sleeping and waking worlds, Freddy Kreuger terrorizes the teen offspring of the townspeople who took the law into their own hands. A sense of dread pervades the movie as characters are unsure if they are asleep or awake.

Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster
(2010)

Not bad for what it is
I disagree with the majority of the reviews on this one. I see it as a fitting tribute to Scooby and the gang. Yes, they changed a few things, but the spirit is still there. That being said, one of my sticking points is, yes, there is a shortage of our favorite Great Dane, but the scenes that feature are spot on to the characterization of him. The slapstick is great. I would recommend this if you go in with no expectations.
