Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas
(2021)

Brilliant addition to Shaun the sheep collection
This was really brilliant and we love all the Shaun the sheep films and shows and this one felt so Christmassy and special. Perfect to watch With young and old and will be a firm Xmas favourite in our house for years to come.

Superworm
(2021)

Superworm has a bit of an ego
We were looking forward to this having read the book to my kids a lot and loving most of the previous magic light ones. While the animation etc is still as good I just felt surprised at how superworm was portrayed. In the book he comes across as somewhat humble and just happy to help others while the others big him up. Well that's how we took it. But in this he was portrayed as starting his own chant and saying 'hip Hip hooray' to about himself and it just felt out of character. He's talking about himself in the first person too at times. Always a sign of a big ego. Just didn't quite land well.

Octonauts & the Great Barrier Reef
(2020)

Octonauts take a dive into the world of musicals
When me and my kids started watching and the first song started I was a bit reluctant, but there's some decent songs in here. My favourite being at thousand pies'. It's a good length of about 45 minutes. Nice little 'battle' style story with familiar and caring characters.

Why Women Kill
(2019)

A new and clever premise
I stumbled across this gem of a show. It's perfect for a binge watch. It's a tiny but like desperate housewives of you liked that but better and the premise of three time zones in one house was very clever. It worked so well intertwining all the episodes and themes. The finale was amazing. A great cast as well.

Snowpiercer
(2020)

The pay off was worth it
I love the original film and concept. So was excited for the show. It was a bit slow To start and I was constantly looking out for familiar people from the film. Once it gets going and you get to know people more it's really engaging and the final episodes of the first season were awesome. Great ending. Can't wait for season two which I just read was almost Ready pre lockdown so hopefully still due next year.

Freaks
(2018)

Hooked from start to finish
Best film I've seen in ages. The intrigue was there at first to hook me in. It gives you enough in small amounts so that you want to know this dystopia. The main family characters are well written with a good mix of humour at times. By the end I was so attached and involved I was on the edge of my seat. Well done to all involved. Brilliantly intriguing and wonderfully executed. Highly recommend if you like superhero / thriller type genres or dystopia in general.

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga
(2020)

The elf joke paid off. Honestly lovely if you like Eurovision
A love letter to Eurovision, Iceland and all that is love in Europe. We missed Eurovision this year due to the pandemic and honestly if you've missed it too watch this. I'm not a huge Will Ferrell fan I think sometimes he lingers on a joke for longer than it's funny but the film on the whole is actually made with love and the budget is there. If you know Eurovision you'll know how inclusive they are and how accurate this is.

The elf joke throughout paid off big time that was the biggest laugh I've had for ages. Just go with it people!!!

The Twilight Zone
(2019)

Great anthology show
I've never seen the original so I'm watching it as a new show entirely and I'm really enjoying it. I love black mirror and that style of dystopia different story each week style and if you do it's worth a watch. You might not like everyone as they are different but I've often found myself laughing too. It's a crazy escapism show and I'm enjoying it. I'm shocked at the low ratings but then saw republicans didn't like it so maybe an agenda there who knows. I'm British so I haven't worried just enjoyed the show.

Captain Marvel
(2019)

Loved this!!! Fierce, funny and full of subtle 90's nostalgia
I really liked this. Adored her look and determination. Loved fury. Loved goose. It was funny and had enough heart for me to care. Omg the 90's music was awesome. Was touching to see the Stan lee opener.

Extinction
(2018)

Much better than expected - original and thought provoking
I started watching this thinking I knew what to expect and I was very pleasantly surprised by how the plot turned. It was all there in the beginning but the story tellers did a job of subtly setting things up. I thought that the cast was talented and diverse and it was nice to see familiar faces getting the center stage they deserve. I'm not giving any spoilers but I just wanted to express that this really deserved d impress me and I enjoyed it and thought it was clever. I'll be thinking about it for a while.
