Road House
(1989)

When you understand the value of a classic...
.. because of crappy new version!

This movie was nowhere near cult classic for me - as growing up in 80s and having my youth in 90s - I know a lot of better classics. But back in the day, this was a fun movie with irreplaceable Jeff Healey and goofy characters.

But once the "new version" surfaced up, we had to run and rewatch this to understand what a classic it is - and also to mourn what life on this planet had turned into.... a show of imbeciles!

PS: Jake Gyllenhaal is better than I expected in the new version but still not the original Dalton. RIP Patrick!

PS II: This paragraph is solely written because of ridiculous character limit. Another post-modern imbecileness for you!

Ted
(2024)

when one single character ruins the whole show...
Unfortunately this show is one big disappointment compared to the movies - especially the first movie. Yes Ted is great as usual, yes their relationship with young John is great, yes Matty is a hilarious character, but...

... there is one character here that ruins everything, that is unbelieveably antipathetic & annoying - and also played by a very antipathetic actress. This "woke" character is so out of place for 1993 that it was like a torture to endure her. This show would be a hit if it wasnt for her, but now its an annoying preachy-nonsense. It's like somebody somewhere despised both Ted movies and decided to ruin it with woke-pc nonsense which Ted's original crude humor has nothing to do with...

12th Fail
(2023)

Really really good!
I am not an Indian. I have never been to India. But after the success of RRR, I wanted to learn more about Indian cinema. I watched... not exactly watched but began and left in the middle of many movies because I didnt like most.

But we really have a gem here! This is one of the most inspiring movies I've ever watched. And I feel this is the real soul of India we see here, not the over-exaggerated thug/gangster/corrupt politicians movies which are like carbon copies.

Vikrant Massey should be an international star and also I'll try to follow the future works of the director.

This is not only about India. This is about humanity. And this movie is one of the best about telling the story of average human beings. Thanks & kudos to all who worked on this gem..

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters
(2023)

A very big disappointment
To be honest, I have zero expectations & interest in todays movies. And there are only a few series that is interesting enough to endure. Monarch is... was a tv show that excited me after along time. I awaited for it to begin. Yes it began with... a little Godzilla and... very annoying woke characters. I tried to overlook them - especially Kate & May characters.

Then as of 5th episode the show has turned into a pile of garbage - one that even Godzilla cannot lift! Even Kurt Russell - who does his best - can't save this mess. Hopefully these first 5 episodes are veeeery unnecessary & long entrance and after this point we begin to see more exciting things - like Godzilla for Gods sake!!

Fast X
(2023)

What Happened?
I can write the exact same review for the last Transformers, last Indiana Jones, last Star Wars movies, last FF or last Marvel movies etc... What happaned people? Something has happened in movie industry in late 2010's - 2017 or 18. We cannot see any decent plot, any consistent story-telling or any sympathetic characters anymore. Day after day we have to endure more & more imbecilic movies with idiotic characters... new movies come out and this pattern never changes.

It's really not an easy job to be a movie-lover as of 2020's! :((

PS: .... and we see the above trend here in imdb too, as it insists on some "minimum character limit". Oh my!!

Evil
(2019)

one of the best
There are a few series which i place above all others. Like Farscape, Fringe & Legion.

After a long time i found another one to add this rare list. Evil begins slow, you try to understand what it says for some time. Then it sets a unique tone, semi-sceptic, semi-religious, full-conspiritual! And you understand you're watching a unique show which blended all of these perfectly.

Cast is really great but Michael Emerson is something else here. He really creeps & entertains at the same time in every scene he's in.

People complain about the girls - but interestingly they did not bother me. Yes they lower the general tempo of the show when they're on screen - but no big deal. Overall, this is really great show to ponder on.

Knock at the Cabin
(2023)

struck a nerve for some
I guess the negative reviews and hate that this movie gathered was not because of homophobia or any other woke-type nonsense.

There is a type of awareness/consciousness today. Not easy to describe - but the best i can say is Andrew is a good example of this awareness. This is a kind of blind - thinking only about himself or family (or party/group/nation etc) - scared to death about losing control - overlogical - and a bit soulless awareness. A bit reminds of AI. They know everything, they can explain everything with their tiny logic, they are basically the center of the universe. They can be charming, have good education, in good places in the society. But when you try to connect with them, you see something is misssing and no, this is NOT about any religious nonsense. It's more a spiritual void.

This movie struck a nerve on these types. This kind of awareness doesnt like whats told here.

Does it mean this movie is good? Far from it, as most reviews mentioned it is boring, too long, characters are easily forgettable and this feels like a episode of a series like black mirror or cabinet of curiosities etc.

Avatar: The Way of Water
(2022)

..and now we have another "matrix sequel"
In '99 we left the movie theatre awed and fascinated after watching the first Matrix movie. It was like nothing we have seen before. Then, after 4 years sequels came - the mediocre Reloaded and awful Revolutions. We left the movie theatre disappointed & feeling betrayed.

Then in '09 another movie that was nothing like we have seen before came (at least visually). Avatar was telling a non-original story, but it was telling it in a new & fascinating way. And finally.... after 14 years this idiotic teeange-y mess came out and left us in more disappointment & resentment even worse than matrix sequels did.

Where to begin to tell about this insult to original Avatar? Should we get frustrated to see the characters are stereotype American teenages? (Even "forest people" get bullied by so-called "sea people", oh dear, oh dear, oh dear...) Should we get surprised to see people of Pandora acting as mindless zealots? Didn't they have connection to the soul of the planet? What happened to their wisdom we witnessed in the first movie?

Or better, we should forget about it & feel sorry for our 3 hrs 10 minutes that we can never get back. Even the excellent scenery cannot save this idiotic insult to Avatar universe..

Thor: Love and Thunder
(2022)

joke of a movie...
.. but unfortunately not funny. This is not thor we know & love. This is some more disney garbage that seems like the new marvel normal. As some others mentioned i've lost all hope in marvel's new phase as it will go on like this.

By the way, although being a joke, this movie is much better than that horrendous doctor strange movie!

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
(2022)

very disappointing
For me, the first DS was one of the best marvel films and i had high expectations for this movie. But this was a real disaster! The characters, story, plot... everything was really annoying.

And i thought endgame was disappointing. It's shining like gold now compared to this.

The Matrix Resurrections
(2021)

Casting Disaster
As a fan of original movie & M. Reloaded, I had very low expectations for this movie. Because the third one -Revolutions - was horrible and I tried to forget it as soon as I've watched it back in '03. So I was expecting another Revolutions here.

Nevertheless, this one exceeded my expectations. I understand the lower ratings are from high expectations and higher ratings like mine are coming from low expectations.

Having said that, this movie has a very big problem as casting. I don't mean the actors are necessarily bad but especially Morpheus & Analyst are very bad choices - not remotely suitable. But the real disaster is Agent Smith. Ok, nobody can come close to Hugo, but this was a very pale, very uneffective and terrible Agent Smith.

Overall, this movie was better than I feared, but casting was unexpectedly horrible. Let's say Analyst's cat was better than most of the characters in the movie!

Cowboy Bebop
(2021)

bored of anime fans!
Do you not like animes? (Especially Japanese animes)

Do you think they are way too much overrated?

Are you seriously bored of rigid anime fans who hates everything that doesnt fit into their imagination?

Yeah, me too! So, having not watched the original anime, i really liked this show. The actors have good chemistry and the storytelling is really nice.

So do NOT listen to negative reviews and see this show. It's woth binge-watching!

Greenland
(2020)

surprisingly good - but not for snowflakes
I liked this movie. Didint expect anything before watching and pleasantly surprised at the intense atmosphere (pun intented!), characters & actors. Butler was better than many of his previous movies and Baccarin was good as usual. Also i was really glad to see a non-annoying symphatetic child actor - at last!

But.... this movie is not for snowflakes. I know there will be some imbecilic snowflakes that will.whine endlessly about some actions of our main character. But my fellow Gen X viewer, you and i know that if this was a 80's movie, our hero would kill half of the characters in the movie himself!

One last thing: Once more the producers reminded it's definitely not a good idea to be in US when apocalypse arrives..

The Great Escapists
(2021)

Not Bad
I have never watched Top Gear and I have no idea what Mythbusters is. So these guys are new for me. As I dont have any previous experiences which fills my head and creating bias in my view, I watched this with fresh mind... and liked it!

Yes it's not big deal, yes it's not very much creative but scenery is excellent and it's lighthearted fun for passing time.

Also I couldn't smile at the adorable cuteness of reviewers who complain that "this is scrpited" :D Guys, this is TV! When did you see anything NOT scripted here? Still this show is way more natural than any news broadcast that any mainstream channel shows these days!

The Midnight Gospel
(2020)

Excellent
I can understand why members of modern society doesnt like this show - or %95 of them are not even aware of this show - because it forces you to think hard.

And in these covid lockdown days it becomes clear that this is a very scarce & precious feature.

His Dark Materials
(2019)

a real disappointment
I really liked golden compass movie. the story was good and the actors were great in that movie.

so i waited for this show with great anticipation.... but the result is a big disappointment.

what happened to serial shows / tv series? it seems there was a golden era around lost/fringe (2006-2010) and after that everything's gone downhill. even if there comes a real gem once in a while, it gets cancelled or finishes too early (flashforward, forever, legion etc). most series nowadays have very boring and loooong stroy telling which can be finished in 1 or 2 epidoses but instead streches to 15-20 and have seriously annoying and bad characters.

we see the same pattern here, the story can be told in maximum 2 episodes and the casting shouldn't be anymore horrible (couldn't stand ruth wilson's character and to be honest wilson herself as she is unbelieveably antipathetic). no chemistry, no believability. just dry, boring & antipathetic acting. so this makes all the episodes dull & boring.

even james mcavoy couldn't save this mess, i feel sorry for him..

Into the Night
(2020)

Interesting story, horrible characters
Horrible, horrible show.

I have never seen such antipathetic & imbecile characters together in one place! Although the story has a potential to be interesting, the characters are soo annoying that in every scene you lose your attention and patience to their behaviour and decisions. I don't know if these are the normal behaviour patterns in Belgium. If so, this is a place to avoid at all costs!

Watchmen
(2019)

Really really REALLY bad!
Let's pretend this has nothing to do with Watchmen. Let's pretend we haven't seen 2009 movie or we dont know anything about the name "Alan Moore".

Still this is a really bad show. Really bad characters, unfortunately very bad actors (or it seems they have no clue what the director or screenwriter wants from them), very cliche & really banal plot.

Overall, a total failure. Hope people who are involved into thiss mess give it up early.

Ad Astra
(2019)

Love or Hate - depends on where you are in solar system
This is not your average sci-fi movie. This is not an action movie. There are no superheroes - or even heroes here.

This is a VERY subjective inner voyage of enlightement. A painful one. You have to go far as Neptune to understand yourself, untie the links from the past generations (a very family constellation-esque way). You have to be alone. You have to suffer. After all these - maybe you can have meaningful relationships with others.

By the way if the primat (primal brain) destroys your neocortex (captain) you are in grave danger of derailment & crash. You need an inner voice (soul connection) to warn and save you when the time comes. Otherwise you can live like %90 of world's population and say that this is a boring and bad movie.

This shows me you are on earth yet. Not on moon. Not on Mars. You have a long way to go.

Good luck.

Robin Hood
(2018)

This was a parody right?.... RIGHT?
Hilarious scenes, cartoon characters, semi sci-fi plot, sit-com like dialogues. What else do you want from a parody comedy.... wait, it was not comedy? What?

A Rainy Day in New York
(2019)

an oasis
This movie is an oasis in today's super-paced, zero-plotted, super-powered, highly cgi-ed cinematic desert. The dialogues are fun, characters are good, New York is always beautiful.

The only downside of the movie is Selena Gomez - destroying every scene she's in with a dry and plane acting. Woody Allen might naturally give her role to a log - and it wouldnt make any difference for the scenes she's in.

Overall a very nice experience, an oasis to breathe for sincere movie goers.

The Boys
(2019)

Urban-ite!
I always liked Karl Urban but he has overdone himself here. Butcher is one of the best characters ever.

And yes, he's not afraid of calling morons as morons, so that' why so many are p**ed off.

------ spoiler --------

Sorry you can get angry to Butcher all you want but that's the truth; all conservatives are moro... well, nevermind. Enjoy the show!

Hellboy
(2019)

shocking!
Why, why, W - H - Y would someone think a movie like this? How can any sane person allow this project to happen? Why did anyone in the studio/production company/whole movie industry warn these people about the result before it's released into masses?

And most importantly WHY did they use Hellboy's name for this ultra-ugly mess??

Avengers: Endgame
(2019)

Endgame, begin disappointment
Maybe my expectations were too high. Maybe I expected more elegant & complex solutions. But what this movie gave to me was huge disappointment - with a little fun here & there (mostly includes Thor). In the end, Infinity War remained as far more better movie.

Alita: Battle Angel
(2019)

seriously are you all kidding?
This movie's nowhere near Terminator I/II or Avatar or any other action/sci-fi films. It is even not anywhere near new Terminator movies. I seriously cannot understand some of the reviews here. People, have you not watched a decent movie? Every scene - but every scene - is filled with the most boring & annoying cliches here. No characters, no plot, no sub-plot.

Seriosly are you all kidding??
