Insidious: The Red Door
(2023)

Bellow average
We were quite excited about this movie. That much excited that we watched all the previous movies in the series to fully understand the story, which was the right decision, but this movie was disappointing.

The previous movies brought something new to the series. This one seems like they ran out of ideas. It felt rushed over. There were few jump scares but other than that there was nothing much.

So, if you are like us, who liked the previous movies, do yourself a favor and don't waste your money. If you want to complete the story watch it just at home when it will be released. You won't be missing much if you won't watch it in cinema.

Fatherhood
(2021)

Relatable to many
I watched this movie with my girlfriend, she and her twin sister's mother passed away while giving them birth. She related quite much to this movie. She was raised by her father, who refused to give them up to anyone and didn't marry for a long time.

It's a simple movie about single fathers to which many people won't relate but it's an important topic that needs to be discussed. I definitely recommend this movie.

Vikings: Valhalla
(2022)

Disappointed
I love history and I crave to see historical events and figures in a film or series. But I am convinced now that Hollywood will never be able to make any historically accurate motion picture. They simply don't care and they are just cashing in at the expense of historical accuracy. They think by showing the alternate version of history they are doing service to marginalized groups but they forget that if they add diversity to history, these groups won't remain marginalized. Remember, we consider them marginalized because they were underrepresented in the past. You can't have it both ways guys.

If, according to some reviewers here, this is just entertainment and we shouldn't take it seriously, then why claim it is as historically accurate? Like the makers of this series claimed. Why name it Vikings? Call it whatever else you want. Besides, it's one thing to add diversity to it then changing historically recognized people completely. I don't understand, don't we want gays to play gays and people of color to play people of colors characters? Will that be ok for these people if Marie Curie is played by a male character? I dare you guys to do it. If you can't do it, which I am sure you can't, then it is hypocrisy.

Some people are claiming that there were few black Vikings and we shouldn't mind seeing a black Viking but that's not the point. If we have evidence of it, then sure add black Vikings but why change people who we know for sure were not black?

You can have as much diversity as you want in fictional series but please leave the historical movies and series unaltered. Don't consider your viewers as dumb. There are enough history available for both people of colors and opposite sex that you guys can create a great film or series. And this is coming from a non white and non European person.

The Blacklist
(2013)

Watching it for Reddington
Having watched all episodes till season 8 so far, I found it pretty interesting but Agent Keen's mommy and daddy issues became a bit annoying afterwards. Also in season 8, I don't understand why she was trying to kill her already dying father and rob him of money which he was already leaving for her. That doesn't make any sense. Later seasons I watched mostly because of Reddington.

Welcome to Earth
(2021)

Pretty enjoyable
This series has good cinematography and episodes covers intresting topics. Will Smith is not an expert or adventurer which makes this series relatable. Definitely recommended.

Clickbait
(2021)

Quite Iintresting
We enjoyed it and finished the series in two days. There are so many ups and down and you will never feel bored while watching it. Everytime you think you have figured out the story, you will be proven wrong. Although we figured out few things but otherwise its not predictable.

Dune
(2021)

It was great
I have never read the book but I watched this movie in IMAX and I loved it. The cinematography was great. Especially the first 30 minutes. In fact I am planning to watch it again in the cinema and also read the book as well someday. For people who are saying that the movie is slow are probably fans of movies like Marvel or Fast & Furious. For me the pace was fine.

Free Guy
(2021)

Kind of stupid
This movie dosen't make much sense if you know how the computer code works. Plus as usual they added some stupid dialogues for no reason. Like the Guy telling the girl that you can do better and you don't need to be with men became most of the men are awefull anyway. Like really?

If you are gamer, you can't relate with it much. If you are programmer, you can't relate it with it as well. Not sure for whom this movie was made.

Lucifer
(2016)

Stupid
I have heard many good reviews of this series so I had high expectations, but it turned out to be disappointment. There is no sense whatsoever in the script. Some random guy start investigating with the cop and no one is bothered about it. Plus the Lucifer is really annoying. I mean not the actor but the character. Just to make it clear, I only watched 4 episodes before I gave up. It might became more Iintresting later but I don't have time or will to find out.

Mayans M.C.
(2018)

Getting better with every episode
Honestly, after watching SOA couple times, the first season of Mayans M. C seems slow to me. Probably the story was still building. But the second season is going really good so far. I am sure third will be even better.

Snowpiercer: A Great Odyssey
(2021)
Episode 3, Season 2

One of the best episode so far
This was one of the best episode of the series. I very much enjoyed it. This series is getting better with every episode. I hope they continue the momentum.

News of the World
(2020)

Very good
This is the kind of movies Netflix should release. Not the serial killers and murders crap that they are very fond of. Contrary to some reviews here, Tom hanks was good as usual. In short, I really enjoyed it.

Breaking Bad
(2008)

One of the greatest show
I have watched this series three times and every time I watched like four episodes in a day. Every episode leave you with some curiosity so you are forced to watch the next episode. Besides the great acting, the directors and writers did a great job.

Contagion
(2011)

They always knew
People are calling it a visionary movie but the scientists and epidemiologist always knew how the virus like this will spread. They had many examples of it. I have watched a few videos on this topic and they have been predicting possible pandemics, like COVID-19, for many years. Even the makers of this movie got inspired because of a TED talk by one epidemiologist, named Brilliant. They used his consultation for the movie. In one of the talks I watched, one guy even predicted the shortage of toilet papers in case of any pandemic. It is just normal people, who don't seem to understand, until they face the situation. It makes me wonder about other issues like climate change etc. Will people also understand them when it will be too late?

The Case Against Adnan Syed
(2019)

The story of a messed up system
Regardless of whether Adnan is guilty or not, it's proven many times that the justice system is broken. Many people consider it as sacred but in reality, it's just a man made system and doesn't always become successful in delivering justice. It works on the ability of people to present the truth in order to serve justice, but people can be biased, easily manipulated, and influenced. This includes everyone in the justice system. The many innocent people, who were put in jail and later exonerated, and the people who were let go freely even though they were guilty, are the biggest proof of it. The system prefers the rich and powerful. If you have the money, you can hire the biggest lawyer with the biggest mouth, whether you are guilty or not, and that lawyer will try to manipulate the system to prove your innocence.

Chernobyl
(2019)

Hollywood version of Chernobyl disaster
There is a history and there is a Hollywood version of history. In this series they opted for a Hollywood version. I will not complain about the British English, since it has already been criticized here in many reviews. I see people generally don't agree with the language criticism for some reason. Maybe because they don't care or the series has, as usually, created a fan's cult. It is mind boggling to see so many people praising the accuracy of this series while in reality they just barely touched it. I will try to articulate why I stated that.

I think the biggest idiotic mistake that the series did was to portray people, who are contaminated with radiation, as contagious. In reality, once a person's skin and clothing are washed, his or her ability to expose others to radiation is eliminated. The protective plastic screens around victims of ARS (Acute Radiation Syndrome), shown in the series, were not for the visitors but for the victims due to their weaker immune system. Portraying them as contagious was dangerous and irresponsible because In case of a similar accident in future, less knowledgeable people will be hesitant to help them. And it's not because of the general perception of people at that time that they portrayed it like that. Even the nurses and nuclear physicist Ulana Khomyuk presented similar views in the series.

Another issue with the series was that they added a fictional character of Ulana Khomyuk, who by the way was always right. Why did they add a fictional character when they did so much research for the authenticity of costumes and set design? According to the writer, he wanted to present the Soviet liberties of women. If he wanted to do that, why didn't he just add the character of Maria Protsenko, who was the Sino-Russian Chief architect of Pripyat. She helped vacate the town after the disaster and even stayed, one year after the accident, in the 30-kilometer Exclusion Zone. She also helped the liquidators by creating hand-drawn copies of the maps (It was restricted to get the copier in the USSR). Or Angelina Guskova, who was a surgeon and radiation expert. She established radiation protection standards and medical management guidelines after nuclear accidents. She was in charge of the Moscow hospital which took care of the 132 ARS patients after the disaster.

Let me explain to you why it is a bad thing to add fictional characters in a historical series. I watched the series when it was just released. Recently I got the chance to read a book about it. After reading many chapters I didn't find Ulana Khomyuk. When I did some research, I found out that she is a fictional character. I never imagined that a show, which is being praised for historical accuracy in the reviews, could add a totally fictional character. You can just imagine the knowledge of a person whose only research about Chernobyl is this series. For me it's a disservice to the men and women who actually faced that crisis bravely.

There is a long list of inaccuracies. The naked miners or the urban legend of helicopter crash over the Bridge of Death. People who are interested in it, can go check the Wikipedia page. I am giving it 6 stars for the actors, special effect and the research they did to present the environment of that era. If you are someone who doesn't care about historical accuracies, this might be the best series. But If you do, just watch it by keeping in mind that a lot of things in this series are fictional.

Westworld
(2016)

First season was really good
I really liked the first season. Second was fine but the third was quite over dramatic. So my rating is for the first season.

Barbarians
(2020)

Enjoyable but...
First, I must say this series was really good and I enjoyed it. I like the fact that they speak their own languages instead of just one. I would have enjoyed it more if they would have tried to create it as historically correct as possible but they decided to make it according to 21st century's standards. They converted Thusnelda, who by the way was a real noble women but there is no historical record of her as being a warrior and was not even present at the battle, into a Lagertha like character. In reality, she was abducted by Arminius, many years after the battle, because of her pro Roman father. Although, I understand why they made it the way the did. Apparently it's because they wanted to reclaim their history. But I was more hoping for authenticity.

The real events were fascinating enough to create a memorable series, so it's kind of a missed opportunity. If you keep in mind that it is mostly fictional, you will enjoy it more.

Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn
(2020)

Predictable
The only intresting thing about the movie was Harley Quinn. There were couple of catchy scenes otherwise, it was very predictable. Specifically the fighting scenes were ridiculous and unrealistic. Overall, It seems that this movie was made for 16 years old teenage girls.

Edit: I didn't read the reviews before watching this movie. It seems there is general impression that people who are giving bad ratings are giving it without watching it. I assure you I watched it completely and with open mind. Although I knew it will be a normal politicaly correct Hollywood movie but I wasn't expectIng all the protagonists to be women. Then I saw the director and the writer, I realized why they were all women. Both of them are women. The normal political correctness only applies to male directors and writers. Females are as usual exclusive of that.

Unsolved Mysteries: Berkshires UFO
(2020)
Episode 5, Season 1

It's time to believe!
I had always interest in UFOs. I believe out of billions of stars and planets revolving around them in Milky Way, there could be life somewhere. You can find many fake videos and UFO witnesses on the internet but there are many credible videos and witnesses too. For example, videos from space station, fighter jets etc and witnesses like astronauts, fighter pilots, presidents etc. There have been many investigations by governments on UFO phenomenon and there are still few government agencies working on UFO sightings. Despite, many people are still understandably skeptic. Now when Pentagon have openly accepted that the UFOs exist, I think it's time that we too start to have an open mind about it. About the episode, it was fascinating.

12 Years a Slave
(2013)

It's a summary of the book
I watched this movie right after reading the book and it felt like watching the summary of it. Events mentioned in the book are presented mostly accurately but some events are squeezed to save time. Plus, I didn't feel like emotions of the book portrayed as well as they are portrayed in the book. For example, Solomon's life before enslavement and Eliza's Separation with kids, which is very emotional and difficult part of the book, seems rushed over. Probably because of it, viewers of movie can't connect with this part of story as well as the readers of the book. They also skipped one important event mentioned in the book. Solomon had a fight again with Tibeats and he successfully escaped to save his life but after some time, he returned back to Ford. They also didn't mentioned that why he didn't escape, like there were guards, hired by planters, patrolling the roads and anyone can ask slaves for the travel paper and in the absence of it can hand them over to authorities. There are also some other events mentioned in the book skipped in the movie for time or some other reason . Anyway, it is still a good movie and people who haven't read a book probably will enjoy mor.

Snowpiercer
(2020)

Intresting
People are weird. Sometime really ridiculous TV series and movies gets very good reviews and sometime decent series gets bad. This TV series is the example of later. It's not an Emmy winning series but nevertheless quite interesting to watch. The actors are doing good job and the plot has some life to it. I am not sure, how come some science fiction movies and TV series, like Star Wars, gets high ratings, despite being quite away from reality but some get judged based on scientific laws.

Extraction
(2020)

Intresting
Some very good actions and cinematography. Not an Oscar winning movie but a good time pass.

1917
(2019)

One of the best war movie
This movie is genious. The way they present the environment and they way they picturized it, is a work of art. Even though there were not much gun fire going on like typical war movies, you will not realized how the time passed so quickly. This movie is about how the real war looks like and the emotions of it. And the only way you will not like this movie is if you watch Ramboo like movies.

The Devil Next Door
(2019)

Watched in two days.
One of the most interesting documentary I have ever watched. Probably due to the film like characters and the passion of people behind the whole thing. I hopped they would have explained on what basis they convict him second time, which they kinda skipped.
