Cidade de Deus
(2002)

A Mindblowing Masterpiece!
This movie is absolutely amazing! It is a cinematic tour de force. It is undoubtedly one of the top ten best movies ever made. Comparable to American masterpieces such as Goodfellas or Pulp Fiction. But it is its own unique film.

It is based on a true story of one boys desperate attempt to survive and escape the city of god (the slums of Rio de Janeiro) a truly brutal and violent place. A place where murders, holdups, drugs, and criminals are commonplace.

This film announces the presences of a truly talented filmmaker, Fernando Meirelles. He directs this film with a ferocious, frantic, intensity perfectly merging every aspect of the film. He uses many different filming tricks from split screen to freeze frame. Each one is used at exactly the right time for the exact right reasons.

All of this combines to make an unforgettably perfect cinematic masterpiece that i highly recommend. 10/10 A++

Pulp Fiction
(1994)

The Best Movie Ever!
This is the best movie of all time. Simply put it is perfect. Between having the best script ever perfect performances (especially Samuel L. Jackson) and the best directing ever this movie becomes a flawless cinematic masterpiece. Quentin Tarantino revolutionizes film-making with this masterpiece. And has one of the greatest collection of characters ever who feel almost as real as if you knew them thanks to the fantastic dialogue. One example of this is the 2 hit-man Vincent and Jules they don't feel like to coldblooded killers they feel like real people talking about such things as foot massages and McDonald's in Europe. Pulp Fiction has spawned a million ripoffs but none can even come close to the greatness and magnificence of Pulp Fiction. This is the best movie ever and my favorite and i don't think any movie will change that. If you haven't seen this movie you need to stop whatever your doing and go buy and watch this movie.

Shichinin no samurai
(1954)

One of the Best Movies ever!
This is Akira Kurosawa's (one of the greatest directors ever) greatest masterpiece. It is film-making at its best. With amazing performances across the board (my personal favorite was Toshiro Mifune) it has some of the most memorable characters of all times. However the best thing about the movie is the direction Kurosawa captures every moment of the film perfectly. There is not a single wasted frame in its entire 3 and a half hours. It jumps straight into its magnificent story with its opening shot of a villager witnessing a group of bandits decision to attack and rob the village. The villagers then proceed to hire 7 Samurai to protect the village. But that is not the only plot in the movie their are a number of subplots. Some of the most memorable scenes in the movie are the 3 battles which are some of the most amazingly filmed in history. I highly recommend this movie as it is unbelievably entertaining and should be required viewing for any film buff. If you haven't seen this movie yet go rent it and watch it as soon as you can!
