Dumb Money
(2023)

Good except...
Another good Wall Street movie. Most acting was very good but yet another movie where Seth Rogen ruined it for me. Not sure why Tinseltown loves this guy so much but he can't act and in other movies, the only way he can ad lib is by using the "F" bomb (not that he used it here). The sound track was awful. It was so bad that I almost turned the movie off in the first 5 to 10 minutes. Why is it that we have to make crude the new normal? - this is a Wall Street movie with serious content and we can't just bring it to life without people like the low intellect of Cardi B singing porn on scree? Is it just too hard for writers and producers to make creative content without such vile content mixed in? This shows how bad they are at their jobs when they have to rely on music like that. Definitely made for 21 to 30 year olds. Too bad because I liked the story and that part was fairly well represented but it was set to the back in order to bring the vulgarity to the front.

Best Canadian show
Billy Campbell and Karine Vanasse and Glen Gould are excellent. There are 1 or 2 actors that are not that great but the stories and the other actors help you get past that. I definitely have to say that kudos go out to the cast and crew for this show. We have two seasons that are in the dead middle of Canadian Winter - ouch. I'm sure that the cast has some nice warm trailers to jump into but even for them, while shooting, this was brutal. Then you have the whole season of The Black Fly, not fun....probably worse than the midges in Scotland. I saw someone write about the similarity with Hinterland, It didn't strike me that this was a copy cat of Hinterland - another excellent show. It is not very often that o give Kudos to a purely Canadian show but this is one of them. Watched The Bay, in NZ and the Canadian actors in that weee atrocious so I'm glad that this show is respectable.

Excellent score
Whoever did the score for season 1 did an excellent job. Every bit of it fits every scene perfectly. It really brings you into the mood of the story and brings life to every scene.

Penelope Keith's Hidden Villages

Love the scenery but..
Who mixed this? Did they listen to it? Every time Penelope has Voice Over, her voice drops about 6dB and the music over takes her voice. When she's on camera, it's fine. Did they listen or look at meters or were they just in a hurry and let it rip. Thank God for captions.

Color
Season 6 has great color. I want to hand it to the colorist for season 6. Beautiful looking. The Main Title music choice is another matter. I hope that it's supposed to be some sort of traditional sound because I have to fast forward through it.

Extremely disappointing
Acting was good. Have seen many of these actors in many other things and like most of them. Thought the story was leading to a great mystery and in the end fell flat like bread without yeast!

The Victim

So far...
Watched episode one. So far I like the show but hard to watch because everyone looks jaundiced. Do they have a colorist or do they just LUT the dailies and let it run? A lot of good actors from a lot of other shows that I've seen.

Season 8 color?
Love the show but am in season 8 and it looks atrocious. Looks like there wasn't a colorist and they just used a lut for overall color. Blown out and no saturation and lacks contrast and totally takes me out of the story. The first 7 seasons I got lost in the storyline and the characters and forgot I was watching a tv show, I felt like i was part of it but season 8 takes me out. Everything is super warm. Hate it.
