Average Joe
(2023)

I think it was a mistake to put this on BET
BET or black entertainment television although technically correct for this series is doing it a disservice as it's limiting its audience.

This is a complete blockbuster that does not miss a step.

Black white Asian Latino Martian whatever this needs to be simultaneously broadcast on additional networks.

Yes the preponderance of cast are black but that has nothing to do with this show.

Except to show that everyone faced with the similar circumstances can turn into a sociopath.

Love hate complete disbelief are all social aspects to everyday life and everyone experiences them regardless of race.

Born Yesterday
(1950)

A broad's a broad
Nothing says Ignorance is a choice More than Billy Dawn"s (Judy Holiday) portrayal of the bubble-headed bimbo that is happy in her ignorance is bliss life.

Knowledge doesn't mean you come from the right neighborhood or went to the right schools. It just means that you are aware of your limitations and wish the better your standing.

Harry Brock (Broderick Crawford) is a bellowing overbearing brute that loves Billie despite the fact that he knows deep down that she is smarter than he is and he resents her for it.

Judy Holliday's portrayal of a simple-minded infantilized grown woman is a study in character portrayal.

The gin game shows the complacency of the relationship at the cost of $55.60 Harry can't help himself that no matter what he loves Billie, he just doesn't know how to express himself with any eloquence to tell her genuinely that he cares. So he yells and screams and treats her poorly because he's a child that never had any proper upbringing.

Paul Verrall (William Holden) she's Right through Billies sheltered exterior and immediately falls to her innocent charms (who wouldn't)

She uses every ounce of her femininity and womanly wiles to woo Paul to her emotionally starved bedside.

Instead Paul feeds her mind and her emotions through the American revolutionary history.

Billie, standing next to a young child under the Capitol dome is obviously envious of the opportunities this young child is given that she was not privy to.

Eager to make the most of her situation she dons her horn room glasses and ventures out on her own to read the American Constitution

Armed with her education and her ever feminine presence William Holden's Paul Verrall has no chance and he falls madly head over heels.

The parallel between the growth of a country and its citizens after world war II and Billy Dawn's personal growth show the ideals and hopes of a country that may be yellowing now more than ever but there's nothing that can correct the complacency of an ignorant society more than education and an awareness of the uniqueness of our still very young country.

Ignorance is a choice and Born Yesterday refers to our country and our society and citizens poor education only goes to show that I limitations we have are our own.

Just like Billies father sacrificed, scrimped and saved but kept his ideals and wanted more for his daughter. You will feel the same I'm proud of Billie Dawn

We should all be so fortunate to have the same aspirations and dedication to bettering ourselves.

Because default does not lie anywhere except in ourselves.

The Lincoln Lawyer
(2022)

Meh
Something about this show is just off.

I do watch it but... Manuel Garcia-Rulfo is a questionable selection as the lead Mickey Haller. He's quite eloquent but He cannot shake the accent...it's not terrible it's just makes it difficult to to continue the suspension of disbelief.

Becki Newton as Lorna Crane is some low rent Elle Woods paralegal office manager / girlfriend of ne'er-do-well biker / P. I. Cisco. Played by Angus Samson with a gravelly whispering voice that is nothing short of infuriating A bright light in the show is Neve Campbell portraying Maggie McPherson As Mickey Haller's ex-wife and prosecuting attorney. She's believable and commands a presence on the screen.

Jazz Raycole as Izzy is Mickey's driver and recovering drug addict, seems very formulytic and stereotypical.

All in all 6.5 or 7 is all I can muster for this and I blame David e Kelly for all of the failures of the show because he tries to please everyone all the time with everything and you can't. I wish he would just stick to some gruff rigid characters that are true to the original books that have merit and can stand on their own. I don't think this show should go another season but I wouldn't be surprised if it does, which is another sad state of affairs on what we're all willing to accept.

So yeah, Meh.

Shrinking
(2023)

Had promised but failed
I watched the first couple of episodes and it was tolerable and then progressively got worse every episode was less and less interesting.

Harrison Ford is a fish out of water Jason segals good at the and everything is fine with him the neighbors have no character development and they're on for 30 seconds the colleague in the office is annoying and childish

Perhaps they should have saved the money they spent on the big name Harrison Ford and given the opportunity to somebody that was more credible in the position.

The final straw was all the whispering for effect to make somehow the conversation more intense or impressive.

It's just annoying stop doing it.

Godfather of Harlem Feat. Swizz Beatz, Rick Ross, DMX: Just in Case
(2019)

Season 3 is very boring
They've ruined the show.

I don't know if there are new writers but the departure of major characters and the development of prior peripheral characters with the lack of action except in the last 5 minutes has made me take it off my must-watch list

It's on my very boring list now I'll come back when the season's done and watch the last 5 minutes of each episode And that's all I'll need to know I hope the main actors can get out of this quicksand of a show like some others have already had the foresight to do

There's nothing to see here folks It's a soap opera now They're not even showing any decent vintage cars anymore.

Uncle
(2012)

I don't like this... I like, like this.
Every episode is emotionally a teeter totter.

Andy (Uncle) is just a lovable Nair do well that really gets in his own way so consistently that you begin to wonder if it's on purpose.

The familial bond grows throughout each episode and the musical interludes are extremely entertaining.

The show deals with real life as well and real adult problems even though the focus is not there 100%. It deals with personal growth, being a single parent, personal demons, recovery and dating in the 21st century.

Andy wears his heart on his sleeve and he's just such a lovable failure that you can't help but root for him no matter how convoluted his mind is

Nick Helm and the additional actors are mostly seasoned pros that you would recognize from other episodes....

I'm rewatching it after a few years and it's still one of the best things on.

A real pleasure.

Two Weeks to Live
(2020)

Black comedy only Brits can make
It must be a unique cultural circumstance that create the incubator for dark comedy that only the Brits can Do consistently and exceptionally well.

Two weeks to live is yet another example that this is fact.

Character development plot twists humor frustration all come in the package.

You meet What appears to be a stoic young woman in the first scene. As you progress you realize she is a complete fish out of water, everywhere.

I think many can relate to this so it makes her immediately likeable.

The other characters I find myself saying out loud What are you doing or talking to them calling them names like controlling or stupid.

So what I'm saying here is that the show is engaging and pulls the user from a passive watching position to an engaged viewer.

No spoilers here Just watch it and enjoy the one and only season.

Reboot
(2022)

It's not a sitcom, it's about a sitcom
It's a fun overview of Hollywood and the insights of making a TV show.

The details are not overwhelming it's cursory about who does what.

I'm writing this six episodes into a bing and it's becoming a little tired with the internal relationships of the sitcom Stars.

There has been no real activity of them as their characters doing the sitcom it's all behind the scenes.

Which I think is probably better than having to endure those horrible sitcom episodes.

The surprise for me is Paul Reiser.

I'm ashamed to admit it but it took me an episode to realize it was him.... Age will do that to him and me...

It's a nice little distraction in the show has good potential but it really hasn't done anything except for a couple of good laughs out loud It may be destined as a single season attempt Hulu to be creative without offending which is impossible.

So good luck to the cast I hope it continues I'd watch season 2 if it was better.

Man vs Bee
(2022)

A modern Bean
Classic Mr Bean situational comedy mishap comedy

Although in this case it goes just a little bit too far for me.

I mean it's hard not to rehash the old but it is always welcome from Rowan Atkinson Whether it be Johnny English or Mr Bean

Unfortunately it's not good enough to watch more than once

GS Rider X.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: How to Chew Quietly and Influence People
(2022)
Episode 5, Season 4

Something's different
I don't know if the writers are different but the show is.

The dialogue is all different.

It's more costumes and dancing then quality dialogue The characters as the parents are actually ridiculous and offensive to me even though I'm not Jewish you're bad stereotypes that Tony shalhoub and Kevin Pollock are better than

I don't know that I'll continue to watch it or not but episode 5 season 4 is a little better than the others.

The Harder They Fall
(2021)

A Solid Western
Would have given an eight except for the slight lull, for no particular reason that I can understand in the middle of the movie

There are plenty of reasons to like this movie. The cast the acting the script the tongue in cheek White Town ..

but I would say the number reason to like this movie without even having to watching is the soundtrack

Even if you don't like the flick the music is sound 😉👍💕

Tucker and Dale vs Evil
(2010)

Unexpectedly good
Don't overthink it Watch it enjoy it shamelessly And remember it because it's a classic Right up there with Hot fuzz and Sean of the Dead.

I swear everything Alan is in is really good I don't know why it surprises me. It shouldn't.

Resident Alien: Family Day
(2022)
Episode 5, Season 2

Like Homer Simpson would say... Borrring!!!
Oh my God it's so bad the show is excellent but this episode totally sucked.

The only redeeming quality is a daughter she's excellent. Liza (Taylor Blackwell)

Wolf Like Me
(2022)

The music is a doorway...
The very first scene really needs to be paid attention to...

Everywhere today people are shutting themselves off from their empathy.

The ability to really communicate about your happiness, your life, your direction, what's missing, what's needed, the glue, that all affects our psyche and our connection with ourselves and others as animals.

You don't need to be hit by a truck, just try to leave yourself open to life's chaos

Because you can't see the patterns and it shows itself as chaos.

This Way Up
(2019)

Second season is terrible
First season was okay maybe a 7 or 6.5 Definitely a chicky show But I do like the actors and I did have some occasional funny lines.

But clearly it's dead after season 2 and if it's not, it is to me.

Red Rocket
(2021)

30 minutes or less
27 minutes in and I'm still wondering why they called it a comedy

If I want to watch Joe dirt makes a porno it won't be this.

Don't waste your time.

Don't Look Up
(2021)

Ever looking ants from below
Clearly there needs to be a Purge Covid or an asteroid or when we were younger it was thermonuclear war but it doesn't matter nothing will change Educated rats that can't find their way out of a maze one told where the exit is.

Star Trek: Discovery
(2017)

Where no one has ever seen Star Trek before
I don't know what possessed anyone to write this junk.

But I can't watch it I can't pallet any of this dribble.

Everyone associated with this show should be put in Rura Penthe.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang Makes Lethal Weapon 7
(2021)
Episode 2, Season 15

The mirror lies, the camera tells the truth
Every scene, every sentence, every experience is reality and awareness of entitlement that transcends race gender and every stereotype on all levels.

This should be required viewing in every University, household, high School, and job.

There are no longer any sociably acceptable groups to demonize.

😬

Free Guy
(2021)

Good morning Goldie
What a pleasure. I pointed at the screen and said, oh my God that's hilarious!!!.

That's how good this movie is.

It doesn't preach, it doesn't make me feel bad about me, or my world, or my choices or anything...

It only reminds me, that I'm a free guy and my choices are my own and I can do whatever I want to do with my life and my friends.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌞

Grosse Pointe Blank
(1997)

A HomeTown hit
If you're from the region and you know the area you will enjoy the movie for the location.

If you know nothing about the area you will enjoy the movie for the plot lines and subtext and how well everything blends with the soundtrack. Sadly this is lacking in today's movies.

Cruella
(2021)

I was expecting something else
What a pleasant surprise

Very well done origin story Emma Stone and Emma Thompson.

I hope we will never see the end of them.

The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror IX
(1998)
Episode 4, Season 10

Remember the movie Pleasantville
Bart & Lisa enter the television a la the movie Pleasantville
