Bad over-dramatized one-dimensional movie Like the title of the film, the summary of my comment says it all. And like you don't really need to read my comment (there are better, more-detailed ones at the bottom), you don't need to see that movie.
It's a German movie trying to be as bad as a Hollywood flick. All the cheap ingredients are in. Moving facts, average acting, music swelling to tell you when to reach for a Kleenex, very one-dimensional or idealized characters, and a script that too- conveniently compacts events together to fit nicely into the time it takes to eat a bucket of popcorn. Sure, it'll move quite a few people and shake quite a few Germans, the ones who won't come out full of pride with the fact that there was a resistance. A nice little mix of sad events and feel-good conclusions. I.e., the usual Hollywood stuff that gets nominated for an Oscar year after year in recent times. Nothing new, nothing realistic, nothing really well-done.
More intelligent things about this time of German history and this particular occurrence could be packed in a 10-minute conversation between intelligent adults than in the run time of this movie. It's good that there are still movies about Nazi Germany, to make sure we never forget that time and its lessons, and it's good that young Germans question themselves about what they would have done in similar conditions. But please let the questions come from better movies as this.
