I had really high hopes for this series. I love Aldis Hodge, great actor, as are all the actors in this series. Unfortunately, the writing is something else altogether. They need to go. The writing is trite, highly predictable and frankly boring. I tried. But, from the first episode, it was obvious that it would get more and more predictable and just obvious.
The writers didn't disappoint. The overarching theme of his wives death, and how it keeps playing with his head, again, this is just the typical trope. The troubled detective that gets involved in a case because he is brilliant, but has demons. When will you get better writing?

This is an old idea but with a twist. Buddy cop show with individuals from 2 different worlds, one secular and one religious. Both characters very likeable and both are fun to watch in terms of their interactions (her sisters are quite fun as well). The monk is great, he is done well, intelligent, insightful and a bit naive about the world. She is intelligent, jaded and thinks the world is crap. Both are right.
Overall it's worth watching. It's not overly challenging, and not a lot of brainpower is needed, it's just a nice series. Pleasant. Some other reviews are overly negative about her character, I think that is just their personal bias about women in certain roles.

Seriously bad. Ten minutes into the movie and you think it smells. Thirty minutes in and you know it stinks. Not sure how much they paid for it, but it really wasn't worth it. The sets were horrible. The acting was forgettable (not the Mark Wahlberg is a good actor), but JK Simmons or Jackie Earle Hailey or Adewale Akinnuoye-Aqbaje are great, why are they in this?! It has to be for the money! The plot, the entire thing is like a kid trying to write James Bond, and not very well.
Honestly, you would think with this much talent that it would be better. But, with the dross that Netflix puts out it's not really that surprising. If you need to kill time and have brain cells you don't need, watch it. But, you probably have better things to do, like now the lawn.
