I love the Simpsons. Well, not all of the episodes are great, but all the early seasons more than make up for the new episodes, which have become rather stale. Pretty much everything started going downhill a couple of seasons ago, starting with the episode where Homer takes over the church. It was stupid, and very different to what the show used to be about, classic comical gags and witty lines and political satire in it's subtlest form.
But now we have obvious references to current events (though strangely, I never saw an episode where the whole Iraq war was even mentioned, strange considering the show used to point out and make fun of the political incorrectness.) and we have stories that jump all over the place, and it's hard to follow because the writing is so boring. It seems to me that as the animation became easier to do, more episodes were churned out quicker than before, without the care that went into the old episodes.
But, watching Krusty shooting Luke Perry out of a canon straight into a brick wall in 'Krusty gets Kancelled', along with all the many classic lines and episodes, more than makes up for these new episodes, which have prompted many people like me to wonder if it is finally time to let the series end and retain it's magic from the classics, before the writers end up making a huge mistake and breaking all the fans hearts by creating episodes so bad even the most hardcore Simpson's fan would cry.
