So much of what I love in film - the cinematography, writing, directing, acting, music - all are excellent. As well, I was so pleased to see Britt Lower, Tom Mercier and the rest of the cast showcased with such expertise and sensitivity. At times, while watching it, I felt as though I were in a dream.
The weaving together of the music, opera and "poems" was magical.
Since seeing it, I have learned that it was a novel titled "The Incident Report" and now I want to read it. This a movie that will stay with me for a long time. Thanks to everyone involved in its creation. I look forward to more from all of you.

What a great movie - such excellent casting, acting, writing, directing, cinematography - all of it. Heart-felt, funny and a great dog, to boot. I immediately recognized Desmon Borges - he is always great, as is Catherine Curtin. All in all, a total pleasure. And more movies need to be made in Maine, Portland especially - it is such an idyllic setting. I streamed it on Prime and it's available on Apple, too.
Independent movies are always worth a try, in my opinion, and I'm always willing to give one a try. I think I've always heard that actors try to avoid working with children and animals as they steal the show. The little pooch in this one, Tony, did a good job.

For the life of me, I will never understand why they put Hong Chau in that ridiculous gray wig. What were they thinking? In her every scene that was all I could focus on.
I have never read any of these author's books, so I am unable to compare the book with the movie.
The performances were fine, but the script...the script. All I can say is that as we watched it, I was predicting many of the lines to my husband before the characters even said them, that is how predictable it was. When certain new characters would appear, I would say to my husband, "oh, this one will be killed next." Every single time, I was correct. That is how predictable it was.
All in all, we actually did enjoy it simply because we were trying to figure out which roles would turn out to be the bad guys. I love being outsmarted by the creators. I just wish the scriptwriters were more talented.
And Gabriel Basso is fine, though he still looks like the handsome teenager he was in The Big C. I am glad he got this gig and wish him lots of success.
