Little gem makes you think
Don't you love it when you see something that takes your earlier assumption and turns it on your head? No, you don't. Nobody does.

I like this doc because it takes something we all saw and instantly thought we knew what we were looking at and takes a closer look to reveal a bit more.

Not saying this is totally going to change how you think about this case but it adds one more aspect to a menagerie of evidence.

It is well made, short and straight to the point. * I clicked spoilers but maybe there isn't :P

Great News
(2017)

Funny is funny
People are over thinking this show. I've watched the first 4 episodes and I get at least 1 good laugh out of each one. That's pretty good for a new show. I think this has potential to gel into a great show.

Yes, there is a touch of the 30 Rock feel but not too much. It has a great ensemble cast that has room to add more as time goes by.

I watch this show and get immersed in the story and people in it. It is good brainless fun. I highly recommend adding this to your list of watchables.

I hope enough people find this show to make the ratings where they should be.

The Untold History of the United States
(2012)

Well made but just too much opinion
This is well made. As an avid documentary watcher I saw TONS of footage i'd never seen before. Some time lines i've had a hard time grasping over the years this series straightened out for me. Very good stuff in that regard and my judgment of the series as a technical work is very good.

All that being said, Stone puts lots of opinion with no supporting proof. I understand that he's trying to show a different side of history. But if you just state your own fact over the current widely held facts without the smallest attempt at verifying it, it falls on its face.

I love a conspiracy theory. Getting behind the scene information about a piece of history is fascinating to me. This series is just a presentation of a laundry list of Oliver Stone's grievances on history. I guess if you want to sit and listen to a made up history, this is the show for you.

Is Will Arnet living out his failed alcoholic life on screen?
Are these supposed to be real people? If there are people in their 40s who are this self absorbed, I don't want to meet them. I don't see how these characters are supposed to exist in the real world.

If I look at Bojack Horseman and now this, I get the feeling that a lot of what Will Arnet is producing is about his life in alcoholic recovery. Only problem with that is trying to juxtapose the life of a millionaire actor onto a veritable bum living in a very expensive part of Los Angeles. It doesn't work. Yes, Will Arnet probably has 20something hotties engaging him on the regular. I just don't buy the relationship the way the series presents it. And about that. Really Will? You are gonna have a languid love scene with a girl 20 years your junior on camera? LOL, for what? Thanks for showing me Ruth's bare ass though!

You should journal or meditate Will. That way maybe we don't have to imagine what a useless, narcissistic life you may in fact be living.

Turn
(2014)

AMC has got an eye for making great shows!
I read an article that mentioned this show as watchable. My assumption was that it would rehash Revolutionary war content that I maybe already knew. I was wrong, this gives a view of what it was like to live with your enemies. All of the spy material is done in a way that I totally believe it could have happened that way. Lots of times I'll research and find out what's real and what's made up. This show is so good I haven't because I don't want to tinge the picture that's being painted.

Jamie Bell only seems to make great shows. Heather Lind is amazing, she makes me want to save her.

This is an original show that makes me want to watch the next episode as soon as possible.

Game of Silence
(2016)

Game of Silence, yes, this needs to be silenced
Take a pile of exposition, add some poor acting, idiotic predictable writing and then a touch more exposition and you've reached Game of Silence. Here's a hint to the creators; when you have such a pile of crap don't go the "we'll give it a name like a popular show' route. You only make yourself look that much worse for having tried to ride the coat tails of a great show.

I only could watch the first episode because I strained my optic nerve from rolling my eyes so hard at the ridiculous and transparent plot.

My only hope is someone will read this and decide not to watch this show. Just one person saved...

Pirate Treasure of the Knights Templar
(2015)

Look Ma! I Invented History!
You gotta love this new kind of pseudo science. And by love, I mean mock mercilessly. Basically, its Modus Operandi is; come up with a theory, go to basically any historical site and find anything(and i do mean anything), pick it up and state that it lends itself to your original theory. Anyone that knows anything about the science of discovery will tell you this is the exact way you don't want to do history.

Scott Wolter and his merry band of cohorts do seem to actually find an item or two.But when they find these seemingly unrelated pieces, they pronounce, on the spot, that this is exactly what they were looking for and let the glad handing begin. It really is silly.

All that aside, I do go as high as a 4 because there is some production value and the B roll is great. In the end I watch these kinds of shows to get information that is usually already been disseminated in show after show. I think that's where Wolter does his worst because he wants to add garbage to the narrative that just isn't there. Or if it is, he sure hasn't done any real work to show how it is.

America Unearthed
(2012)

Eye rolling factor
The series starts out showing evidence of before unseen(by me) archaeological sites in North America. The evidence is reviewed and a supposition given. Pretty straight forward documentary type stuff. By the end of the season and the culminating Templar Treasure episode, the amount of hype and pure unfounded speculation is off the charts.

So the shows start out with stuff that hasn't been hammered home in oh so many documentaries and movies, then ends up with Scott Wolter giving his opinion about all the stuff we've been seeing for the past couple decades. Templars, the Grail, Freemasons, you name it, this series hits all the high points in the end.

Scientists start with a hypothesis, do the research and then give a report on what they evidence shows. Scott Wolter has an opinion, and looks for only the evidence that supports it. By the end of the last show, with the drill that wouldn't start and the fist pumping and crack-pottering(is that a verb?), my eyes were rolling so much that I thought I would strain my optic nerve. This show is entertaining but I don't think there's a need for another season because they have shot through all the relevant topics a sensationalist show like this feeds on.

Prometheus
(2012)

Ridley Scott must be rusty
I don't see how this has gotten such a high rating. I guess people see that Ridley Scott decided to direct again and we all just give him a pass?

Aside from production value this movie is horribly made. One of the hallmarks of a great director is their ability to make a story that makes sense. Or at least makes sense 99% of the time and that 1% you just let go because 99% is pretty damn good. With this movie there are so many plot questions its not even funny. From characters who appear out of nowhere to people running around like middle schoolers at a museum, when in fact they should be trained scientists. Also, the android who wants to poison some of his own crew,... for what? To take them back to earth? That's stolen from Alien. I could go on and on. This thing is a hot mess.

Why write a review now? I made an IMDb account for the sole purpose of writing this review because it seems over the last two years since this movie came out few have had the balls to call this pig out for the stinker it is. Sorry Ridley that you are so much of an icon nobody is going to tell you the truth. I imagine for some having the ability to leave one on the kitchen table and everybody gather around it and tell you it's a peach would be a turn on. I think you need some truth in your life. Those aren't new clothes buddy, the king is in fact naked.
