I recorded season nine of The Virginian (renamed Men from Shiloh). It has no resemblance, no connection to the first eight episodes. Even Trampas would be almost unrecognizable in a scraggly mustache and long hair, if not for him wearing the same shirt and vest he's worn for eight seasons.

Season nine is set in the 1900s, about ten years after the previous seasons. So I guess that's why Trampas' appearance was changed. However, The Virginian still looks the same.

The acting is good. I am trying to get through episode three. So far, there has been top rated stars making guest appearances. But the mood, the tone, just isn't the same. There is more of a western feel to it to reflect the popularity of the spaghetti westerns in the 1970s. But watching it in this century, I liked that it was different. I liked that Shiloh was focused on the feeling of family. Even the ranch hands felt like part of the Shiloh family.

I can't seem to get interested in this new design, look and tone. None of the episodes have held my interest. I've fast forwarded through the stories. Whatever made me like the previous eight seasons is now lost to me.
